HEART'S COMPLEXITIES.

INTRODUCTION... *** Leah,a masc in her early adulthood. She has an androgynous temperament which made her look all the more attractive with beautiful short hair styled like a boy's,perfectly constructed muscles that weren't particularly obvious or bulging but up close,they looked like they were sculpted into perfection,with eyes cold and distant. She was everything both a guy and a girl would dream of having. Eighteen years of age but had more experience than someone who's lived for over thirty years,quick witted,determined,cold,heartless in the eyes of many,smart and observant but underneath that perfect appearance and exterior,is a ruined individual,emotionally damaged. No,she didn't choose all of that,she was forced to be that way,forced by the people she loved deeply,forced to be in the dark side of the world with no one to confide in,no one to care. She knew she could handle it alone but she needed to know that if she could not,someone would be there to share it with her but that person was yet to come by. She lived in constant pain,anxiety,fear and darkness all caused by past trauma and experiences. Brittany,on the other hand, is nineteen years of age,with dark sides known by none but a sunny side known by all,she's the kind of feminine beauty that could attract admiration from both genders,she has black,long hair that compliments her fair skin,with eyes that carries innocence,purity and playfulness. She's carefree,playful,and absolutely lovable but she's never a pushover. She's seen more than her playful exterior shows,she has loved ones around her but she never felt confident or comfortable enough to confide in any of them,she needed to be comforted by that one person she felt she could never have. The person she'd tried so hard not to fall for,for years but all to no avail. She had fallen for someone she shouldn't have but she still didn't want to accept it. ******** CHAPTER 1:THE BLISS OF INNOCENCE. *It hurts to love,to relive that bittersweet feeling of being in love. Loving someone who is completely oblivious to the feelings i have and try to hide. These feelings....I try to convince myself that they do not exist but who am I kidding? My heart's completely swayed by this perfect existence.* Leah is deep in thought,sitting on the hallway stairs with dull eyes. "Umm Leah,why are you out so late?" A soft and gentle voice emerges from outside the hall *no reply is heard "Leah?" The voice calls out again,louder this time, immediately jolting Leah back to reality "Who's there?" Leah asks,guarded but not so much,considering the voice she'd heard,she presumed the person would be harmless but she still had to be wary "It's Brittany,are you okay,Leah?" She asks,tentatively as a way of showing that she meant no harm and that she was one who Leah was familiar with "Okay" Leah briefly responds and rests her head back on the railing with eyes closed Seeing that Leah was not going to take the initiative to ask her to have a sit,she permitted herself to sit next to Leah,in absolute silence,awkward silence. The one that didn't feel weird despite the fact that they were only acquainted and not all that close. A while later,Brittany was starting to feel bored and tired as she had just gotten back from class and had a long day,she needed to get some rest. Leah could sense that she was getting uncomfortable and said casually,"You should leave" "Huh?" Brittany asked,she had been a bit carried away by the fragrance Leah wore "What perfume do you wear?" Brittany asked as she was unable to stop herself from doing so,she really liked Leah's scent "Dark heart" she replied shortly "You scent really nice" Brittany commented "I know" Leah said as she got up and headed for the exist "Go..go.good night" Brittany stammered as she said to Leah who was already close to the door. Stopping in her tracks,she turned around and smiled lightly,leaving Brittany speechless. That was the very first time she'd seen Leah smile and though it looked a bit forced,she couldn't help but admire her. She stood rooted to the ground,dazed and had a faint smile on her face,she had no idea why but she felt oddly attracted to Leah but she labeled it as a mere feeling of admiration for a handsome/beautiful girl. It's a Monday morning and everyone's busy,the hallway's bustling with students wandering around the premises,noise from several corners of the building with each student trying to get to their respective classes. At least,some students. While some are just wandering around the premises,waiting for their classes to commence. Leah was part of them but as usual,she stood right under the staircase,eyes cold and focused on what she was doing on her phone,headphones on with music on,head bent as she's fully engrossed on her phone. "Leah!" Brittany calls out from a distance as she catches a glimpse of Leah *no reply* She gets a bit closer,"Leah!" she says in a relatively loud voice in order for Leah to take notice of her presence there. Leah casually looks up from her phone,revealing her usual cold eyes and then continues to look down at her phone,completely ignoring Brittany. "Umm" Brittany says awkwardly,"How..are you" She got no response,instead,Leah turned around and walked towards the exit,leaving Brittany speechless,she felt embarrassed because there were several people pressnt there,who witnessed what had happened. "Bri,why do you still waste your time trying to talk to that proud girl?" He asks,clearly disgusted by Leah's coldness towards his friend,Brittany " I don't know.." she sighs and looks at Luke,her best friend who shakes his head,saying, "Bri, please don't fall for her,she will hurt you" She smiles,self mockingly,saying," i know" "I'm glad you do,she's not worth it,I mean,who does she think she is? Being all arrogant and rude,because she's fine?" "Well she does have an advantage" she says helplessly "I mean,everyone literally wants her,even you do so I guess she could be rude if she wishes to be" she added Luke retorted,"Now that's you spouting nonsense,I don't want her and her being admired doesn't give her the leverage to act all high and mighty" "It kind of does"Brittany said "Why are you even siding with her?" Luke asks,annoyed "I really don't know" she replied with a forced smile "we should get to class" she added,changing the topic "Okay" Luke doesnt probe further On their way to class,they see a group of people gathered with three people at the center,one visibly taller than everyone present there,she could tell that it was Leah,that scent,even from a distance would leave an impression. *what's Leah doing in the middle of a crowd?* She thought to herself but could make no sense out of it because she knew that Leah hated crowds and avoided them like a plague. She was still thinking about what might have happened when she heard a low,cold and authorative voice that silenced the everyone gathered there,"I remember asking just two people to apologize,why then is everyone here?" Leah's cold voice rang out in the crowd,it wasn't loud,just enough to force the people around to silence. "Good. No reason,now scram" she said in the same cold and authorative manner "Except you two" she added,looking towards two girls who looked very embarrassed "You can as well apologize now that she's here" Leah said,gesturing towards the confused Brittany "Bri,we're sorry,we should not go around speaking Ill about you" the girls said through gritted teeth,clearly annoyed Everyone was speechless and shocked that the Leah,who's voice most people had never heard was now actively defending someone. They were more jealous than anything. *Why should Brittany be an exception?* They thought to themselves. Leah looked in the direction of Brittany,as if waiting for a sign of acceptance or something,it made Brittany more confused than ever. *Why the h*ll were those girls apologizing to her? What exactly was going on?* she thought to herself. "So..?" Leah asked,as she was starting to feel really uncomfortable causing a scene on the hallway "Umm i guess I forgive them" Brittany said,still confused and without any explanation,Leah turned to leave,leaving the open mouthed Brittany,rooted to the ground in complete shock. Luke who was standing at the side had a rough understanding of what might have transpired. He felt annoyed at once "So she acts all rude in your presence only to come and make a lousy gesture later?" He turns to Brittany and asks,indignant "She sure is hard to read" Brittany says with a faint smile that reaches her eyes,something luke hadn't seen in so long He felt jealous. He had always been there for her and never rude to her but he had never made her smile this way nor had she ever been truly moved by any act of his but just one act of care from Leah and she was already swayed? "Hmm" he scoffs Brittany ignores his odd expression and drags him along with her to class. Brittany was a year older than leah so naturally,she was a class ahead of Leah but Luke was in the same class as her. That,coupled with their closeness made leah keep her distance as she assumed Brittany was interested in Luke so she did not want to get close to her in order not to get hurt. But little did she know that Brittany had been in denial of her love for her since they were in high school and now,they were in the same college,both oblivious to each other's feelings. Both trying to fall out of love for the other by not getting close to each other but Brittany decides to make a move this year....
