Chapter 8
RothWhen the warning bell rang, Jheg went into the tunnels with the other Walchin, hoping the young men charged with leading the brandin astray succeeded. They had failed miserably last time, and now five brandin lived in their midst. He had failed to sway the Council to his way of thinking and now five strangers lived amongst them. What was worse, one of them was a long-lived elf and she would be with them for many centuries.
Eventually he and the other Walchin gradually made their way back to the City. What greeted him there shocked him to his core. Signs of a fight lay around as he approached. The five brandin all had weapons drawn and bodies lay in the ground, some still and some moving and groaning.
