Zanthus' office was just as I remembered it. Drab, dreary, and bringing on a fear of claustrophobia that I didn't even have in the first place. I gulped, opening the door all the way. Zanthus looked up at me as he sat at his desk, slaving over his paperwork, a tired expression on his face from his lack of sleep. "Did he touch you?" Was all he asked, his voice gruff with a twinge of possessiveness. Even though Beta Kenneth hadn't touched me, Zanthus made me feel as if he had. "No?" My voice came out sounding quizzical, and Zanthus raised a golden brow at me. I shook my head. "No, he didn't." My voice was positive and firm that time; unsuspicious.
