I left my father where he was. Dead in a hallway in the pack house. Barely knowledgeable of my surroundings, I hobbled to my old house. Even in my state of shock and blurry vision, I knew where to go. The front steps were old, pale, and rickety as I staggered up them. I ended up falling at some point, and wheezed as I crawled up the stairs; rather than trying to stand back up. I would probably only collapse again. I crawled to the door, pressing my palms against the wood as I took a moment to breathe. Everything was fuzzy, occasionally blacking out, before it would refocus.
