#musicvibe - The Spectre, Alan Walker * As soon as the woman saw Tyson, she broke into a huge smile. “Tyson!” She called out. “It’s so nice to see you again.” Tyson stiffened beside me and I frowned when he put his mental block up and pulled his hand out of my grip. He stared at the woman as she made her way over to us. She reached out her hand to me with the same big smile plastered on her face, but I immediately noticed a hostile glint in her eyes. Another one of Tyson’s ex-girlfriends? He never mentioned anyone other than Lizette. “It’s so nice to finally meet you.” The woman said and I shook her hand. “I’m Celeste. Tyson and I went to school together.” “Oh.” I said hesitantly. “I’m his…” “Please, let me show you inside.” Tyson interrupted me and took a step forward. “Oh great.” Celeste replied. “We have a lot of things to discuss.” He grabbed a gentle hold of Celeste’s elbow and led her inside the castle while I stared at their retreating backs completely dumbfounded. What the hell? I hated to admit it, but I felt the jealousy making my blood boil and I considered going after them. It felt wrong leaving Tyson alone with that woman. Kayden came up beside me and frowned at me in confusion. “Who’s that?” He asked. “I don’t know.” I replied honestly. “She said that her name was Celeste, and she went to school with Tyson. Is she an old girlfriend or something? Because after everything that has happened with Lizette, I just can’t handle another one.” Kayden shook his head. “I’ve been Tyson’s best friend since kindergarten.” He replied. “If he had met her in school, I would have known about her.” “Well, Tyson seemed to know her.” I shrugged. “So I guess we’ll have to wait and see whatever it is that they are discussing. I’m sure they’ll share it with us soon.” * Celeste POV King Tyson led me to his office and I quickly closed the door behind us, feeling satisfied with how well the initial plan had worked. My mother had cast a secondary spell that made Tyson think that we actually went to school together. I needed him to lay eyes on me for the Confession spell to kick in, and there was no way I could do that if I was a stranger to him. So when I reached the gate and they let me through, I knew that the plan had succeeded. Once I felt the spell hook onto the king, I started giving him commands telepathically and he immediately got us alone. “We have work to do.” I said curtly. “Yes mistress.” Tyson replied, his tone void of emotion. “First, we need to get rid of your queen.” I said. “I want to take my time with this. My mother told me to get rid of her quickly and come straight back, but I have the most powerful being in the supernatural world as my prey and she is completely unaware of what’s awaiting her, so I’m gonna enjoy that.” Tyson nodded. “Now.” I grinned. “Tell me what would be the most painful way for her to die.” * Valeria POV For the rest of the afternoon, Tyson kept his mental block up and stayed with Celeste in his office. I went on about my day, pretending as if it didn’t bother me, but I had a weird feeling that something was wrong. She smelled like a human, so I knew that Tyson could definitely take her down if she tried anything, but it was all so weird that I didn’t really know what to believe. “Are you okay?” Evy asked and pulled me out of my thoughts. I forced a smile and nodded. “I think I’m a little crazy.” I shrugged. Evy held out an envelope for me. “They sent this over from Maxwell building.” She said. “It’s the test results from the extractions.” My heart skipped a beat. Last week, we finally had a chance to go to Maxwell building to have the doctors check what remained of my ovaries and see if the shift was enough for my lycan regeneration abilities to salvage any eggs. I jumped out of my chair and pulled out the paper from the envelope. When I read the result, my heart sank. “What does it say?” Evy asked and peered over my shoulder. My face drained of all color and I sat down. “One.” I said flatly. “And there’s no guarantee that it will be viable. They’ve frozen it for now because we don’t even have a surrogate, but I don’t even think we need one, because it would take a miracle to make that work.” Evy sat down on the desk next to me. “I’m sorry.” She whispered. I sighed. “I guess it wasn’t meant to be after all.” I muttered and threw the paper in the trash can next to my desk. “Should we pull Tyson out of his meeting?” Evy asked, but I shook my head dejectedly. “No.” I replied. “I’ll talk to him later tonight.” My chest felt heavy for the rest of the night, and when Tyson didn’t show up for dinner, it only made me feel worse. For a moment when I was getting back to the bedroom, I wasn’t sure that he would show up. I didn’t really know how to tell him that our dream to have a child of our own would most likely never happen. I looked up when the bedroom door opened and Tyson walked in with a tray, balancing a bottle of wine and two glasses on top of it. “I’m sorry I have been so distant today.” Tyson said and put the tray down on the coffee table. “Celeste is an old friend and she has been going through a really tough time.” He poured me a glass of wine and held it out to me. I smiled and took it. “You’re forgiven.” I replied and sat down on the sofa next to him. “I’m just happy that you were able to help her.” I knew that I had to tell him about the results, so I gulped down some wine to steady my nerves and immediately frowned. “This isn’t wine.” I stated and stared at the glass. I looked up to see Tyson stare at me with a blank expression before my vision started to blur. I tried pushing out my powers to stop whatever he drugged me with from continuing through my bloodstream, but it was like I wasn’t in control anymore. I staggered off the sofa and fell to my knees, the glass shattering as it fell to the floor. The sound of the bedroom door opening was the last thing I heard before everything went black.
