#musicvibe - Mockingbird, Tiësto * Kayden POV The doctors that had been watching the scene rushed in to help, and someone had gotten a gurney from the infirmary. They immediately started working on Valeria, and I put my hand on Tyson’s shoulder. “You need to let her go.” I said softly. “Let them help her.” Tyson let out a growl, but reluctantly let go of Valeria. The doctors whisked her away on the gurney, and I walked up to Alex. “I don’t know how to thank you.” I whispered. Alex shook his head. “No need.” He replied. “You would do the same for me.” I nodded. Violet rushed up to Tyson and hugged him. I glanced over at them and saw the hollow look in Tyson’s eyes. “Hey Vi.” I called out. “Get Tyson to the infirmary too.” Violet nodded and they started walking. Alex and I walked over to Evy and Garrett. “Are you okay?” I asked them. Evy nodded while Garrett shook his head. “I can’t even begin to describe what is going on inside of me right now.” He whispered. “It’s okay.” I replied. “Let’s go check on Valeria.” Evy nodded and helped Garrett to his feet. “Stay close to him.” I whispered. Evy nodded with a small smile. “Always.” She whispered back. We walked to the infirmary, and I saw Violet and Tyson come out of one of the rooms with a doctor. Tyson stared at the ground and sank down into one of the armchairs in the waiting room, staring blankly into nothing. “He’s still a little shocked.” The doctor whispered. “Any news on the Luna?” I asked. “They’re still working on her.” She replied. “But from what I’ve heard, she’s in really bad shape. Third degree burns on her legs and torso, along with some unhealed fractures and wolfsbane poisoning. She hasn’t been healing as she should, so it will take some time to get her back to normal.” Her voice sounded calm, like wasn’t too worried about it. But when I looked at her face, I didn’t believe her. I raised an eyebrow and she glanced at Tyson. “And how is she, like really?” I asked over mindlink. “It’s bad, Beta.” She replied. I nodded. “Thank you, doctor.” I smiled and sat down next to Tyson while the doctor walked away. I put my hand on his shoulder. “She’s going to be fine.” I said. I looked up at Alex, Violet, Garrett and Evy, and I gestured to Garrett. “Are you hurt, like physically?” I asked. “Just bumps and bruises.” Garrett replied. “As soon as the silver cuffs came off, I started healing again. I’ll be okay in a few hours.” I nodded, and they all sat down, anxiously waiting for news on Valeria. Tyson was cradling his head in his hands, not making a single sound. I wanted to ask him how he was doing. I desperately wanted to hear him say that he was going to be okay. But none of this was okay. The image of the torch landing on the pyre where I dropped it was etched in my mind, and I shook my head trying to clear my head. I couldn’t think about that right now. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind swept through the hallway, and we all stood up in alarm. “What was that?” Alex asked. “Valeria.” Tyson whispered and took off down the hallway. I immediately ran after him, just as another gust of wind blasted me in the face. I held up my hand to shield my face and felt the whole building shaking. Tyson sprinted through the infirmary until he stopped outside an open door. I caught up with him and saw Valeria in a hospital bed, convulsing, her eyes rolled up in her head. Four nurses were trying to hold her still while putting an IV in her arm. The wind picked up again and I had to brace myself against the wall. “It’s her powers.” Tyson shouted. “Did you take off her cuffs?” I asked the doctor in the room. He nodded. “Put them back on.” I screamed. “Or she will tear the whole building down.” One of the nurses scrambled to put the cuffs back on, and the room immediately stilled. “How much wolfsbane did you give her?” I asked Tyson. He shook his head. “I-I don’t know.” He whispered, his eyes filling with tears when he watched his battered mate in the hospital bed. He took a few steps inside, but I stopped him. Tyson tensed and he let out a growl. “Think about this, Tyson.” I said. “They need every space in that room to give her the best treatment. They know what they’re doing, okay?” Tyson nodded before storming off down the hallway and through the door. I rushed up to the window and saw him shift and run off into the forest. “Warren.” I mindlinked. “Let the patrols know that our Alpha is out in the woods now. Don’t approach him, but keep an eye on him. I don’t want him to do anything stupid. Let me know if there’s any trouble.” “Right away, Beta.” Warren replied. “How’s the Luna?” “It’s bad.” I said. “We’re staying in the infirmary and awaiting news right now.” “I’m sorry I didn’t do more.” Warren whispered through the mindlink. “Yeah, me too.” I mumbled. I walked back to the waiting room, where Violet immediately got up. “How is she?” She asked. “She was having seizures.” I replied. “I don’t know why, but it caused her powers to go haywire. They had to put the dampening cuffs back on.” “And Tyson?” Garrett asked. “He took off into the forest.” I shrugged. “I think he needs to process all this by himself. I told Warren to keep an eye on him though.” Violet nodded, seemingly satisfied with my answer. “How are you doing?” Evy asked. I was taken aback by her question. “Yeah, you took quite a hit too.” Garrett added. “That Alpha command must have hurt you.” “I’ll be fine.” I mumbled. I sat down in a chair, trying to ignore the glances everyone exchanged before settling once again. While we waited, I went through every situation in my head, making a mental note to helicopter Valeria to the Maxwell Building in case her condition didn’t improve. But all we could do was wait. But every second was excruciating, and I didn’t know how much more I could take. * Thetford, United Kingdom. October 18th, 2146 * Abigail POV I stared at the small pillar of smoke rising from the candle once tied to Celeste’s soul. We all had one on the wall, showing which one of us was still alive. Once a witch became part of the coven, she got her own candle on the wall, symbolising the unity of our coven. Since Celeste left for her mission, I had watched her candle every day to make sure that she was okay. But when I saw the candle burn out, my hope for Celeste and her mission died. I turned around and saw three sisters standing behind me with worried expressions on their faces. “My daughter has failed. ” I announced. “Get the sisters ready. We’re going to war.”
