#musicvibe - Tell me why, Within Temptation
*
Valeria POV
Welcome to my new reality.
One where only pain exists.
Images of Tyson hitting me replayed in my mind, making me whimper.
Had he hit me again?
Did I lose consciousness?
Why is everything so dark?
I struggled to open my eyes, feeling like my eyelids were made of lead. I tried to move my hand and a piercing sharp pain shot through my body. I whimpered again.
“It’s okay, Valeria.”
The voice sounded muffled. I tried to open my eyes again and light burned my eyes, making me shut them tightly.
“Take your time. You’ve been out for a while.”
I recognized Kayden’s voice, and I frowned.
What was going on?
I finally managed to open my eyes and looked around, trying to figure out where I was.
Kayden was sitting next to me, and I realized that I was in the pack infirmary. I turned my head to look at Kayden, and saw the relief written all over his face.
“Hey.” He said softly. “How are you feeling?”
“Terrible.” I croaked out.
I looked around the room and stiffened when I realized that the power dampening cuffs were still on me.
Wait.
I eyed Kayden suspiciously, getting a sinking feeling that I was missing something.
Everything that had happened came rushing back to me, and I gulped down a sob.
“Wh-Where is Tyson?” I asked.
“He went for a run.” Kayden replied. “I think he needed to clear his head and get that witch out of his system.”
I frowned.
It still didn’t explain why Garrett and Evy weren’t here.
Or why I had the cuffs on.
I nodded, as if I accepted that answer, while I started wondering if there was a possibility that the witch got to Kayden too.
That would explain why he was the only one here.
“Are you in pain?” Kayden asked. “Do you want me to call for a doctor?”
I shook my head, even though my body was screaming in pain. I couldn’t have any drugs in my system.
I had to get out of here.
“Tyson.” I whispered. “Can I see him?”
“Of course.” Kayden replied, and his eyes fogged over to mindlink him.
He frowned, then tried again.
“He’s not answering the mindlink.” He said.
That was weird.
“I’ll go see if I can find him.” Kayden added. “Should I call someone in here?”
I shook my head.
“No.” I replied. “I just need a minute to myself, if that’s okay.”
I held my breath, waiting for Kayden’s reply.
“Are you sure?” Kayden asked.
I nodded.
Kayden gave me a once over, and probably realized that I wasn’t going anywhere in my state.
“I’ll be right back.” He said and held up a red button. “Just press this if you need anything.”
I nodded quietly and watched him leave.
As soon as the door closed, I pulled the covers off and furiously pulled on the cuffs. I didn’t have any additional chains on me, so this was my chance to get them off.
Fortunately, the cuffs slipped over my hands after a few tries, activating my powers.
I looked over and saw bandages covering my legs up to my waist. I was only wearing a hospital gown, but I started feeling suffocated and decided that it was better to get out first and get proper clothes later.
So I soared out of bed, and with a large blast, the window exploded. Shattered glass rained over the floor and I quickly used my arms to climb out the window, flying into the night.

Tyson POV
It felt like I had a rock weighing down my chest. The guilt almost made me suffocate and even though I had been running for hours, I couldn’t let it go.
I closed off everything, drowning in the horrible feelings swirling inside me while Dax ran until he couldn’t even stand on his legs anymore.
I shifted back to human form and fell to the ground on my knees, the exhaustion taking over.
All I wanted to do was lie down and sleep, but I decided to get myself back to the infirmary to check on Valeria.
Everyone seemed as if it was fine, and Valeria was going to be okay.
I wasn’t all that convinced though.
The thought of everything I put her through almost made me sick, and I promised myself that I would do whatever it took to make sure that she was going to be okay.
Even if that meant that she probably would never want to see me again.
I staggered to my feet and limped back to the infirmary.
Just when I was walking inside towards Valeria’s room, Kayden came rushing down the hallway.
“Valeria is awake.” He said excitedly. “She wants to see you.”
“Why didn’t you mindlink me?” I asked.
“I did.” He replied. “You blocked me.”
“Oh.” I said, realizing that I had my block up and no one hadn’t been able to reach me for hours. “Where are the others?”
“They went to get some rest.” Kayden replied. “It’s 2AM.”
I had been out running for eight hours?
My thoughts were interrupted by a loud crash.
“What the hell?” Kayden muttered.
People were running towards Valeria’s room. With Kayden hot on my heels, I sprinted after them. When I reached Valeria’s room. I saw her back as she flew through the window, taking off into the night.
“No!” I screamed.
I shifted again and jumped out the window. We were on the second floor, so it wasn’t that high from the ground. I sprinted after her while Dax almost passed out from running so much.
But I had to get to her.
I tried to reach for our bond to sense what she was feeling, trying to make sense of why she was running, but I couldn’t get through.
When she disappeared out of sight, I shifted back, staring at the spot where I last saw her.
“Valeria!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, in a last effort hoping that she could hear me.
But she couldn’t.
She was gone.
“Come back.” I whispered hoarsely while I leaned against a tree, a sudden vertigo hitting me with full force.
“Come back.” I whispered again before everything went black.
