"I made it, gosh that was the scariest th-" Parker slapped his hand over Lisa's mouth and then pulled her I to the shade of the rocks he'd been hiding against, then pulled her chute in and helped her out of it.
Only a few seconds later a woman with the number 25 came running by screaming and frantically looking around, Parker pulled Lisa closer to himself and gestured they make no sound at all as the woman went to the other side of the rocks before a smashing sound came from that direction, they waited silently for what felt like a minute before another woman passed by, the moon wasn't bright, but because of the uniformed appearance of their clothes the blood on her hands and front were pretty easy to spot, and she was chuckling too, as if she'd done something good, reaching I to the water and washing the blood off her hands as best she could before moving on.
"This is why we need to get off the beach." Parker looked down at a terrified Lisa who was basically shaking as she held on to him.
"Don't move yet, and keep hold of your parachute as well." He said before sneaking out from the shades after making sure the rocks weren't being observed, not that it would be clear to do so at night either way.
Instead of using the sandy side Parker went and dived around the rocks, emerging on the other side facing the sea and then climbing up and getting into the midst of them, making sure nobody would see as he did it with this action, there were plenty of rocks but he had a good memory, so tracing back to what he'd seen months prior he followed the stones and rocks he recognised as they stuck from the ground until he came across a particularly dark section.
He paused though and bit his lip then looked away.
The woman was killed basically above the spot where the knife was supposed to be, her head was smashed in with a jagged rock from the sandy reef side, she wasn't even recognisable anymore, he hadn't paid any attention to her inside of the plane so he didn't remember what she even looked like to begin with, but there simply was no face to recall. "I'm sorry." He reached down and took her shoulder as if he was about to pay respects to the dead, but instead he reached into her pockets and searched, finding nothing at all then yanked her off the rocks and began searching for the knife.
He was right about where the knife was, but it took him almost ten minutes to find it after waves had moved it around in the sands, he was lucky to find it at all.
"Perfect." He stared down at it as the moon reflected above him through the clear water. The knife was still in good shape, but from soending months under water it was probably not gonna last long, he needed to use it wisely, slowly and carefully making his way back to Lisa's location he paused when he saw her there curled with her chin on her knees staring at him with the chutes behind her.
"I thought you had run off and left me to fend for myself." She smiled seeing him, but then frowned right after, giving him a look of concern. "What happened to the lady from before?" She asked, and Parker have her a distant gaze as if he was looking at a talking parrot.
"What do you think happened?" He asked, and she looked down at her hands and sighed. "This is a game of survival where there are no rules at all, you're gonna find that any crime at all that can be committed will be committed on eclipse island, people are going to die, and mostly people are going to be responsible, and I really should have left you to fend for yourself, in the end I'm only here for the grand prize, my aim is the first place and I won't let you or anyone or anything else hinder me from that goal." Parker stated and then turned his back to her.
"For the record though, I'm not gonna kill anyone, and I'm not partial to standing by and seeing others die either, that said I'm not going out of my way to be a long kind of hero, so come on, we have to get to high ground before sunrise, somewhere with proper cover." He pointed out.
"I'm still tired from that plane ride and the jump." She said to him standing up.
"That's not my concern, I'm not gonna wait around, we need to get off the beach before those who jumped and left return, people are stupid and predictable, they're gonna stay near the beach because they don't know the island and don't trust it, while we still have the cover of night we should use that to our advantage and get the hell out of here." He came in and picked up his folded parachute, using the cords to knot it like a sleeping bag and slinging it across his back, and watching him Lisa was able to do the same with her own, itmade a little noise, but as long as nobody attacked them he would keep the knife hidden until he absolutely needed to use it.
Being as sneaky as they possibly could, the two of them made their way inland, and immediately someone came rushing toward them with a piece of log in his hand, this man was one of the thirty that had already tried killing other players, and by the way he looked it looked that he had actually succeeded this time, that was one of the things about the eclipse games, no matter what you did on the eclipse islands, you would not be charged, since WIP had sway in the government and had the island become a sanctuary where laws did not exist, not only that, but nobody could press charges either, their being there was proff of their contract being signed. "Get back!" Parker pushed Lisa behind him and rushed forward at the man, at first it seemed like he was going to be hit, but Parker slid in last second pulling the knife he had hidden in his pants out and delivering a fast stab to the back of the man's two legs then rolled to his feet and grabbed the log before it fell, spinning and slamming it in the back of his neck knocking him out right there.
"Before anyone else comes let's go!" He called to Lisa who immediately took off after him as he began pacing toward the dark of the forest. "I never imagined my life would lead me to take part in these games." Parker spoke to himself as he ducked beneath a vine and then stopped and turned only to see it hook Lisa's chin and flip her onto her back.
"Don't linger." He took her hand and pulled her to her feet then paused and looked at her. "Your chin's bleeding, he reached up and took her face the looked back at the vine again, seeing it covered on all sides with thorns dripping with a translucent liquid that almost looked like honey. "Don't you feel it?"
"I don't feel anything at all in my face actually." She responded to him and he got a sinister look on his face as he got to work immediately.
"We should follow this tree Lisa, it's gonna be super useful in the future." Parker said as he began walking, this was an absolute steal, finding a tree that numbed pain like this after just starting out, using this right the possibility of survival seemed less like a fleeting dream and more of just a dream.
