Reaching the top of the Rise finally, both Parker and Lisa were pleasantly surprised when they came face to face with a small structure, it was seven feet in length, seven in width and seven feet high as well, it held no door and instead had just an opening, and there were no windows at the sides, it was a simple room at the very top of the mountain, and it was made of the same bricks they had been crawling over to get up there, above the entrance was an engraving from a language they did not understand, but that was barely of any consequence, the sun was setting on their second day and Parker was in the mind of getting ready to stop and find some kind of shelter, this was a literal godsend.
"Do you think this could be a trap?" Lisa asked and he looked at her almost susprised, his caution had been thwarted due to the promise of shelter and he had forgotten to even be wary of the structure, but here she had reminded him of why two heads were better than one.
"I don't know." He replied slowly, picking up a small stone and throwing it through the entrance, then grabbing her shoulder and ducking, nothing happened though as the rock simply bounced around inside of the structure before rolling out the entrance.
"Guess not then," Lisa chuckled and stood brushing off her self and walking directly into it while Parker cautiously stayed a body's length behind her, as she expected though again nothing happened, she did turn to him with a bright smile on her face when she saw that there was a rise on the inside which looked like a bed, devoid of anything comfortable though.
"Today was a good day then, right?" She asked him, and he sighed hard and sat at the entrance turning his back to her and staring as the last light vanished over the horizon made of reflective water and forestry, he didn't answer as she had expected, but his silence was enough of an answer, she was tired, and looking at him who had carried that large bag on his back all day she knew he was equally or even more exhausted than she was, so she slowly made her way over to him and slid the bag off his back, then took his shoulders beneath her palm and began gently massaging them.
"What are you doing?" Parker looked over his aching shoulders at the woman, but she remained silent for the entire duration of the massage while he himself appreciated that she even noticed and remained still and let it happen, both of them shared that awkward silence for the entire time until she released his shoulders and plopped on the dusty floor beside him then spun into a sitting position and leaned on his arm.
"Thank you." Lisa Smiled. "I know I'm a burden, and you really have no need to do all you have done for me, so I really thank you for all 6ou have done."
"Don't think much of it." Parker placed a palm against her cheek and pushed her off himself to sit up on her own. "I am doing what I'm doing because I know thereigut come a time down the line where you could just save my life, not out of trust or obligation but instead out of instinct, purely reaction, even if I say it to you now it won't change, by being a pillar of support I'm subconsciously imprinting myself onto you as an important, trustworthy, or beneficial person, unless you're scum to the bone you're going to react for the better of both of us." Parker went science on her and left her there speechless. "It's a psychological thing."
"That's... awful of you to say when I was considering being nice to you as gratitude." Lisa deadpanned and looked him straight in the eyes, but Parker looked her back without batting his own eyes and pat her on the head like a kid.
"It doesn't matter to me what you think, I'm keeping you around, not as a pet or anything that absurd, but rather as a big brother leaning over to keep his sister safe, my own sister never received the amount of attention from me as I'm giving you, and I plan to fix this once I win, which I definitely will, but until then I'll practice being a better brother on you Lisa... and my first rule of being a proper big brother is... don't touch me so much or ill punch you." He said with a straight face before looking away with a scoff as a smile crept across his smug mug.
"That seriously was big brotherly of you though." Lisa chuckled and then paused when both their watches lot up and beeped at the same time.
-Remaining contestants:70, all dead contestants were claimed by various dangerous elements of the wild, as well as other contestants on survival Island, at midnight there will be another supplies airdrop, good luck to you all on your second night to third day and may luck forever shine on you; the second event of the eclipse games will begin in one hour.- was the message that came across their watches, and while it happened Parker had an estranged look on his face, because normally there should only be four events, one per week, this was two in as many days.
"Something wrong?" Lisa asked after her watch as well as his own dimmed back to show a countdown of the next event in red.
"Everything's wrong." Parker replied seriously as he turned the light from the watch to the supplies he had and took out a canned meal for himself and one for her then the bottle of water from earlier. "Let's eat and get some rest before this new event starts, I don't know what it is but it's giving me a really bad feeling, can you hear it?" He asked at the end of his explanation and she paused to listen.
"No..?" She replied truthfully and Parker popped his meal open and stared at her.
"Exactly, all of survival Island went dead silent after the announcement just now."
