I know it's still school hour, but I don't care, not about a reputation that has already gotten tarnished. It's not as if the missing school will change anything. The Deed has already been done.
The verdict has already been passed out. The wrong candidate has been chosen, the right one accused.
“Mesel wait up!”
I don't stop, I keep on walking to my car.
“Mesel!” She calls again, but I ignore her, my main Target being on getting to my car, and driving the hell out of this place.
Stopping to talk with her is like a waste of my time. I can't spare any time for an enemy in a friend's clothing.
“Mesel!” With her voice getting nearer, I decided to run to my car.
Should I walk, it won't take her long to catch up with me, and that's not someone I want.
“Mesel!” Her voice picks up in urgency. Her voice getting as loud as that of an insane person.
The few students outside all have their attention on us. Knowing this school, it's a possibility all of them have heard of the incident a few minutes ago.
Few minutes where I thought I have everything in my grasp; a good slot for a scholarship, a handsome boyfriend, the position of valediction and the best student in the entire school.
All it took was just a few minutes for all my dreams to come crashing down. Dreams that took me years to build all came to an end within a few minutes.
It's all I can do not to howl at the world and fate. I feel like shredding the world to innumerable pieces.
Unlocking my vehicle, I climb into it before she can catch up with me. Presently, my mind isn't in the right state of mind.
She might have done something bad to me, but that doesn't mean I've got to treat her as she did to me. An eye for an eye isn't something that I practice.
Growing up with a religious mother has taught me that. It's what makes people tramp over me like I don't matter.
She knocks on the window of my car, her face as teary as that of a crocodile. Knowing Herty she's trying to cry her way out of this, knowing I can't ignore her tears at all.
Should I stay here for a short time more, I might end up forgiving her.
This makes me hate her the more. She knows I can't stand her tears, that's why she makes use of that against me.
Putting the key in the ignition, I start my vehicle and drive off. Never did I turn to look at her as I drove off. Who knows, I might end up stopping the vehicle all for her sake.

I drove for a long time until I get to the cliff at the edge of the town.
I stop my vehicle and walk the rest of the way to the cliff. This is one of the places I normally go to whenever am sad. It's more like a place I can vent out my frustrations on the world. All these years, I've tried to be the best daughter, friend, student and sister, but have never tried to be the best for myself.
I solve problems for others, but no one has ever tried to solve mine for me. They all think am a person with no problems at all. Someone they can trample on whenever they feel like it.
Someone equivalent to a doormat.
Lying on the grass, I close my eyes, my mind drifting back to the incidents of a few hours ago.

Four Hours Earlier
“Good morning mom.” Smiling brightly, I peck my mother's cheek.
It's a morning in the Smith family, and every morning means having breakfast together as a family. Irrespective of what you're going to, it's more like compulsory stuff that you ought to have breakfast.
“Morning love.”
“Morning dad.” I wave at Father, who's currently reading a newspaper.
Father like all his friends prefers reading the newspaper to watching the news. He always says that reading makes him more learned than watching can ever do.
He believes that by reading, a person can be able to learn more than they can, should they watch the news being read.
“Morning.” He says without raising his face to look at me. It's more like he's too engrossed with what he's doing to pay any attention to me.
“Have a seat while we wait for the others.” Smiling, mom urges me to sit.
“Why must we always wait for him?” I frown at her. The more we do this, the more likely it is he'll continue being late.
“He's still a child.”
“ That's what you say every time. Continue spoiling him, all in the guise of him being a child.”
“ Are you jealous?”
“ As if.” Frowning, I fold my arm, waiting for the royalty we have in our house to make an appearance.
It didn't take long Before the king came down.
“And here comes his highness,” I say in a mocking tone.
“Mesel!” Mother frowns.
“What did I do? I am greeting our royal highness.” I give my brother a scorching look. “ Took you long to make an appearance.”
“ Good morning to you too, my loyal subject.” He says in a mocking tone.
“Loyal my foot!”

“When's the results of the scholarship essay going to be released?” Father asked the moment I came out of the kitchen.
Mom hates it whenever we pack the plates we ate with. She prefers we wash them whenever we eat.
“ Today.”
“Today!” Mother squeals. “Aren't you excited to know your results?”
“Why will she be excited? It's not as if she doesn't know it already,” Kel rolls his eyes.
“ Even though, she should be excited.”
“ We'll be expecting the good news, don't disappoint me.” Father stands from the chair.
“ Have she ever been disappointed?”
“ Am just trying to remind you of what's at stake.” Giving me a loamy my k, father walked towards their room, probably to get ready for work.
“Don't worry, you'll get the scholarship.” Mom lightly patted my shoulder. “You can go ahead to school before it gets late. “
“Are you coming with me?” I ask Kel who's currently leaning on the kitchen door.
“No way! I would rather not have anything to do with Nerds. I heard it's contagious. “ He says with an unpleasant expression.
It's as if he's already comprehending being infested with Nerds.
“Says the boy who can't write his name to save his life.” I stick my tongue out at him.
“ Mom,” He whines.
“Don't ever ask for help with your assignments.”
“ I won't do that.” Sticking out his tongue at me, he raced out of the Kitchen.
