ALIONA'S POV
“Go Falcons! Go Falcons! Go Falcons!” Loud chants filled the entire rink, as students cheered for the Falcons, our school's hockey team.
It was a heated match against the Glaciers. But the Falcons were leading by one point. I watched with intense attention, oblivious of the cheerleaders chanting and cheering the players on.
My gaze darted to the scoreboard. Three minutes until the final whistle goes off. I waited with a hitched breath. The atmosphere in the rink was intense.
The Falcons had to win. I clamped my eyes shut, and counted to three. When the final whistle went off, the entire school went into a frenzy.
We won again!
“To the Faron brothers!” One student screamed and the rest answered with a loud cheer.
The Faron triplets. Next in line to be Alphas of my pack— Mooncrest pack and the most sought after werewolves in the pack.
They not only had the best physique at the tip of their fingers, they also had the charisma. I stared dreamily at Zane Faron, flanked by his brothers, Noah and Logan as they sauntered with raw charisma to the other side of the rink.
They were my first loves. I've had a crush on them since I was thirteen. And on the night of my seventeenth birthday, they asked me to be their girlfriend.
It was a secret relationship.
One that should be kept away from the pack members until I clocked eighteen, and had my wolf. They made it a secret to protect me from the pack members. I couldn't wait to have them all to myself.
The Faron brothers were every she-wolves dream, mine inclusive. They were mine already. All that was left was for them to claim me in public.
A groan of pain escaped the corner of my lips, as a hard object hit my face, jolting me out of my reverie.
A loud hiss reached my ears from behind me,“What the hell are you staring at, you jag?” Sophia, captain of the school's cheerleading team, and the hottest girl in school spat. “How many times do I need to tell you that they are not in your class,”
Sophia Clark.
Every male wolf in the Mooncrest pack would give anything to have Sophia look their way. Being the daughter of a respected Gamma in the pack, added more feathers to her cap.
She hissed. “Finish cleaning up the rink, and go and bury yourself in books, nerd,” Her tone was spiteful.
I shook my head. “Sophia, I'm still a member of this pack and I also attend the same school. I deserve to watch the match,” I said in a weak attempt to protest.
Sophia advanced towards me, and quaked my shoulders hard. My chest rattled with a growl. “What was—”
Suddenly, Sophia fell to the ground, clutching her cheeks. “Argh! What did I do? Why'd you hit me!” She screamed at the top of her voice, drawing the attention of curious students around us.
I shook my head. “Sophia, what are you doing?” I muttered, my tone laced with confusion.
Her two minions, Maya and Olivia, snickered. “You hit her, Aliona, everyone saw it,”
Noah's throat rattled with a deep growl, as he brushed past me, and sauntered over to where Sophia was. He pulled her up, combing his hand through her hair, passionately.
My chest tightened, as I watched the scene unfold before me. They were mere inches away. Their wolf senses were sharp— they knew I didn't hit her.
Why didn't Noah defend me instead?
“Are you okay?” His tone was gentle, as he spoke to Sophia who splayed her hands over his chest.
Sophia let out another fake groan. “Oh! I have a headache! My face hurts!” She collapsed into his strong hands.
How could they not see through the glaring schemes Sophia was pulling?
Logan scowled. “See me in the locker room now!” He said, his eyes cold.
I quickly nodded, and trailed after him like a lost puppy. “What the hell was that for?” His tone seethed with anger.
I shook my head, as tears stung at the corner of my eyes. “I-I-I–”
“We saw you hit her,” Zane's baritone voice reached my ears from behind, followed by the sound of his footsteps.
I sniffled. “I swear on my life, I didn't touch her. She's lying,”
Zane rolled his eyes, and didn't utter a single word. He was the coldest of the triplets, and never uttered a word till he deemed it necessary.
A deep frown rested on Logan's face. “Are you kidding me right now?” He breathed down on me, his gaze intense. “Maya and Olivia saw you hit,”
“Baby—”
Zane growled, and walked away.
Logan held gazes with me, his Golden eyes staring deeply into mine. “You should do better,” He was about to saunter off when I called out.
“Logan!”
He stopped in his tracks, and spun around to face me. Logan arched his eyebrows at me, but remained silent.
I swallowed past the lump that gathered in my throat. “Why didn't any of you defend me in front of the other students?”
His nose flared, as he let out a frustrated sigh. “Are we doing this right now?” He asked, his tone thick with an emotion I couldn't point out. “Aliona, we can't claim you, until you're eighteen,” Logan huffed, his tone casual. “And Sophia is the captain of the cheerleading team, we need to protect her at all cost,”
Over me, their girlfriend? Even though they were yet to make me a woman, I still loved them. I wanted to feel the emotions while they claimed me on the day of my eighteenth birthday as their mate in the presence of the entire pack.
Tears stung at the corner of my eyes, and it took every bit of courage to hold it back.
I sniffled. “I should just go for my shift at the pack house,” My tone was thick with unshed tears, as I walked out of the locker room in ungraceful steps.
A loud hiss reached my ears from behind me. “Huh, so pathetic aren't you?” Sophia snickered in a mocking tone.
I blinked rapidly, and wiped my eyes with the back of my hand. “What do you want this time?” I said in a weak retort.
Sophia edged closer to me, flanked by her minions who looked eager to throw their fists.
She shook her head, “What would I possibly want from an Omega?” Sophia scoffed. “Aliona, you make me laugh, you should be a clown you know,” She added. Maya and Olivia bursted into a round of mocking laughter.
Sophia's lips thinned with resentment. “Aliona, for some reason I can't stand you. You make me sick to my stomach,” She sneered. “It's already enough that I had to endure attending the same school with you. You're also working right in the pack house!”
“Horrific!” Maya chipped.
I sighed.
Sophia tugged her wavy hair behind her ears. “It's just a matter of time. The mating ritual is two days away, and then I'll be mated to the Triplets and become the next Luna,” Her hands curled into a tight fist, I feared the veins were going to pop. “I swear by the moon goddess, I'm going to make you regret your entire existence,”
My veins howled with anger. I was this close to losing it all. But I held back. I couldn't counter Sophia. It would mean selling myself out, right before it was time.
In a few days, the Faron triplets would definitely claim me, and mark me as their mate. For now, I just had to put up with the subtle sidelining I was getting from them.
Her eyes hovered over my shoulders, and it glistened with want. “In the meantime, scamper off to the library, or get busy cleaning the rink, nerd,” She combed her fingers through her hair, “Hey, Noah!”
My chest tightened. I quickly stalked off holding back tears.
