Chapter 45: Elena’s Fantasy

1297 Words
Death wasn’t worth occupying the thoughts of the living these days. This had become a well-known fact. Elena and her companions understood this rule not long after doomsday. Because of this, none of them chose to discuss their most recent loss. Of course, losing Frank left them depressed to an extent. Maybe it was because of the exclusive nature of the fifth floor, but there weren’t any zombies to fight on their way upstairs, so there must not have been any people here on doomsday. All of the private rooms on the fifth floor were luxuriously furnished. The thick security doors were closed. Luther tried to pry a door open with his sword to no avail. Fortunately, they found a security door that was left open after they searched the hall for a few moments. Luther performed a quick perimeter sweep. He found blood stains behind the door, but there was no corpse. He didn’t feel like they would be in danger. He waved at the others to go inside behind him. Elena and the other two companions walked inside, closing the door behind them. The room was quite spacious, with a large bathroom on the side. Inside they found two bedrooms. Oliver opened the curtains, and the room brightened up a little from the natural light. He asked, “Luther, what kind of zombie was that monster with the long hair? “It was a Hair Hime. It’s a kind of mutant zombie with the power to control and manipulate their hair.” Luther told him. “That one you killed looked like she was pretty, at some point,” Oliver said. Luther looked at Oliver curiously and teased, “Oliver, do you have a crush on the mutant girl?” Oliver pretended to vomit and said, “Of course not, I was just wondering.” “Well, it’s natural for you to be curious. Actually, there were once rumors of some perverted men that would keep a Hair Hime locked up for their own pleasure,” Luther muttered. “Ugh, that’s horrible.” Oliver shuddered. The image of the creature suddenly becoming a rotten carcass after she died came back to his mind and he shook his head to try and forget it. Luther recognized that shudder and smirked to himself. He felt the exact same way when he learned about those men. Luther changed the topic because he didn’t want to disgust Oliver any further, “We’re going to rest here for two hours.” Two hours was enough time for them to recharge their batteries. Oliver lay down on a large sofa and said, “Then I’ll take the sofa. You guys can sleep wherever you want.” They all knew that Luther had earned the master bedroom to himself after the fight he put up in the arcade room. Without him, none of them would be alive right now. And of course, the other room was going to be for the only woman in the group: Elena. Eric, who wished deep down to have a bedroom all to himself, kept silent. He felt jealous of the attention Luther had earned himself and he wanted to have the same reverence from the group as him. Although Luther saved his life yet again, Eric was not grateful. Instead, he felt that Luther's power was a gift from God, and it was Luther’s job to protect him anyway. Eric thought that the medicine Luther had was the cause of this power. He thought, Luther just didn’t want to share it with us. He knew it would make us stronger than he is. Eric lay on the sofa and continued to think the same greedy thoughts. And Elena, who hadn’t bathed in a while, was already headed to the bathroom. She hoped water might still be running in this building so she could wipe herself down at the very least. However, she was quickly disappointed. She got to the bathroom and found that there was no water. The faucet only made a long dry squeal when she turned it. Elena stomped out frustrated. She ran into Luther as she rounded the corner. Elena apologized quickly, “Sorry, Luther.” Luther glanced at the bathroom and her dirty clothes. “You want to take a shower?” Luther asked. Elena didn’t expect him to ask her that She stood there with red cheeks and ears and wasn’t sure how to respond. But she really wanted to take a bath. She wanted to ask Luther for some water more than anything. Now that Luther mentioned it, she really wanted to say yes. However, she didn't want to trouble Luther after everything he had just done for them. Seeing her hesitate to answer, Luther smiled and said, "It's okay. It’d be very easy for me to make enough water for you to bathe in.” There was a big bathtub in the bathroom. Luther used his power to make water to clean it. Then, he filled the bathtub with clean water. The tub was now full. Elena stood behind him restlessly. She folded her hands together and admired Luther's profile. Luther was not especially handsome, but he was a strong, smart man. She could read the serious attitude he carried on his sleeve from the look in his eyes. The man who saved Elena’s life twice made her feel surprisingly at ease. Elena couldn't help but ponder. Maybe doomsday brought out the best in Luther. Hold on. Is he going to suggest they do something…intimate? Is he going to ask to bathe with me? Elena thought. At this point, it’s only natural for him to want a close, personal bond with someone. Should I say no if he asks me? He had saved her life a few times and she knew she’d want to repay him in some way. “Elena, the water is ready.” She snapped back to reality when she heard his voice. Elena had gotten lost in her daydream. She was still almost frozen where she stood before he patted her shoulder to regain her full attention. Elena panicked and didn't know how to answer him. Her shameful thoughts just flashed through her mind, and she wasn’t sure what to say. “The water is ready. Just take a bath.” Luther repeated himself. “Ah... Okay, then I’ll go take a bath.” Fearing that Luther could tell what she had been thinking, Elena approached the bathtub anxiously. She took two steps before slipping and falling backward. Elena grabbed Luther on her way down. Luther should have left already. But he didn’t expect this to happen. He was dragged down by Elena before he could react. They fell into the bathtub, their bodies pressed together. It was summertime and they wore as little clothing as they could these days. Elena, who had been training as an officer and exercising daily, had a very slim and attractive figure. Her body was even more noticeable in her soaking wet clothing. Luther was very close to her body. He was still a man after all. He felt an erection grow from the physical touch of this woman and he did his best to hide it. It was even more embarrassing for Elena. She lay underneath him. Her sensitive body was very hot even in the cold water, and it felt like the water was almost boiling for her. In fact, Elena liked Luther very much. And the feeling of being under him made her blush. And for a moment, her fear of doomsday disappeared. She just wanted to rely on him so she could rest easy. ----- Time seemed to stop for a few seconds. “Sorry,” Luther spoke first to break the tension. He got up and said, "You should take a bath first. Let me know when you’re finished, and I’m going to shower after you. I don’t want to smell like zombie corpses any longer than I have to.” Luther stepped away after he said this, patiently waiting for her to shower. Elena nodded and nervously bit her lip. She already felt much more relaxed, but an empty feeling tugged at her heart. What she really wanted was to ask Luther if he would like to join her.
