CHAPTER 13
Maya paced around the small house. Raiden had told her not to contact him under any circumstances, but when she'd rang the café there was something unnerving in Lewis' voice. Alarm. He'd not heard from Raiden either. With nothing but a charger and the bag she had taken to work, there was little but her racing thoughts to keep her occupied.
Her e-reader was amazing, but worry gnawed at her gut, causing her to reread the same lines, unable to focus on the amazing fantasy plot of her favourite author from beyond the barrier. Every word lost its meaning until she could bare it no longer.
She picked up her device again, her fingers itching to send him a message, but the look on his face as she had left the car haunted her. He had been scared. He had done everything he had to keep
