On the the Other side- A Vampire Love Story

“Addy baby, please stop running love, it's not good for the baby. If something happens to you, and trust me when I say this, Cian will have my head for it, and I’m really not ready to die a virgin sweetheart” I said, breathless trying to catch the little minx running around in front of me “Don’t worry I promise he won’t kill you, and I promise I’ll be careful, you don’t have to babysit me all the time Mia” that’s the only reply I got before Addy went paddling away towards the stream. Adeline, or addy as I liked to call her was this sweet, innocent looking blonde beauty, who also happened to be my Luna and sister-in-law. But never, I mean never go by the looks of it, she is the most mischievous person in our pack. The Edel's, the name for my pack members, loved our Luna and for some reason decided it would be a good idea to have me babysit her. Now I don't have any issues with Addy, but she had been hell-bent since the minute I met her this morning, about going out. Cian hadn't put her in house arrest but he insisted that he should accompany her whenever she left the premises of their home. Which to be honest is a pretty okay request, considering she's his mate and now the soon-to-be mother of his child. Unfortunately this meant that Addy suddenly started to have cravings for……. Rebellion. It wasn't that she wanted something specific or anything, just wanted to defy her Alpha, and since she was able to get away with it, literally always, she decided to get to it again. Cause why not? The only thoughts in my mind were that if Cian were to find out, I would actually be in a lot of trouble and there’s nothing Addy could do to help me out. Lord help me. Finally catching up to Addy I saw her picking out wild berries near the stream. Fortunately for me, she was well away from the said stream, the stream being our pack border, the only thing separating us from something or rather some beings, the only thing that ensured our safety. It was beautiful though, the stream. Very large too, in both length and breadth. And it's surroundings were equally breathtaking, with huge rocks around the area, large trees with the most ripe fruits hanging from them. The stream in itself was the continuation of a waterfall situated to the north of our pack, the Edel men pack. It was a no man's land, or water. No one went beyond the stream for it was strictly prohibited. Pack kids were even told stories about how were-men met a horrible end if they ever crossed the stream. We did occasionally have parties of pack warriors sent to the stream for fishing. The freshwater cod was something of a delicacy during the season. But never, I mean never would a common pack member be seen anywhere near it. Especially me. I am something of a special case….. no, not a runt. Not at all actually because being a runt meant having some were genes, but not me…. The only human in a pack full of werewolves. Why, how, what? I don't know and no one ever told me…. And even then, here we were, casually picking berries and just generally saying 'f**k you' to the packs most ancient rules. What's even more surprising is the fact that Addy happened to be from this pack itself. She knew just how dangerous it is but here we are….. “Addy honey how many times do I tell you? Please be more careful. You’re already five months along and quite frankly, sneaking you out like this was a task in itself. I need to get you back in one piece, just the way you were when we were back home. A little careful? For me please?” I requested when I saw her inching towards the water. “Urghhh okay fine. You and Cian and everyone are the same, don’t even let me have a little bit of fun” she said with a full blown pout on her face. I just laughed and squished her cheeks. Every time I look at her I feel so proud of her, the way she took control of her anxiety, came out of her shell, and the way she makes Cian a better person and an even better alpha, it's amazing. She was frequently bullied at school for not being good enough, considering the fact that she was indeed very small and petite as far as werewolf standards go. But her beauty was unmatched to anyone in the pack. When she was discovered as the Alpha's mate at her sixteenth birthday, all of it changed. No more bullying, no more picking on her. But as they say, emotional scars take ages to heal. An hour into Addy’s berry picking and sunbathing fun activities I started to feel a bit restless. I couldn’t explain what it was, but it was there. I just wanted to get her and get out of here, so that’s what I decided to do but Addy was suddenly not around the berries at all. Oh my god why do things like this happen to me? When I scanned the area, I could finally see Addy busy paddling around trying to catch a fish. A f*****g FISH. She stood there, right at the edge of land, near the stream. Forgetting every ancient rule and regulation and just generally putting me in a spot. 'Like yeah Mia, go f**k yourself. I'm gonna do what I want.' I loved her, I really did but, in that moment I wanted to strangle her. “Addy come back here right this moment, you know we’re to stay away from the stream. Back away right now “ I said in the most stern voice I could muster while being gentle at the same time. Being rude to her and upsetting her in any way wasn’t my intention but she needed to come back to me, back to safety. On top of this, the uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach was only growing by the minute. I couldn’t point out what was wrong, but something was. Addy was still being as stubborn as ever, her pregnancy hormones making her overly confident, so I decided to make my way towards her and get her back myself. As soon as I reached the stream my sudden unease and fear got a solid reason. The bushes on the other side moved and the figure of a man emerged from them. Tall, muscular and giving off dangerous vibes from the go…. The reason why the stream was present, the man the stream protected us from. The man who was one of the many beings the stream protected us from, a Vampire.
