Chapter.2

Chapter 2: The most horrifying nightmare.

The sound got so close, and I couldn't help but scream. As the beast came chasing after me, I cried out so loudly.

" Alexa .. Alexa ... Oh my child, what's wrong with you?". Grandmother tapped me out of the most horrifying nightmare I've ever had.

" Why are you sweating and panting so much? " I quickly hugged her, my lips trembled, my body all covered with sweat, accompanied by goosebumps. I kept begging her never to let go of me.

" You're safe, my child. I'm here with you. I'll never let anything happen to you. You'll be fine". Hush, it's OK dear, everything is fine.

Grandmother, I saw a wild animal attacking Mom and Dad. I watched them die, and I couldn't save them. Grandmother, the beast came after me. I'm so scared”.

I could hear my grandmother whispering to herself about liberation. But I didn't understand either. It was so late at night and going back to sleep was something I didn't intend to do. But I didn't want my grandmother to be worried. So I hugged her tight and tried to get back to sleep even though I couldn't. She comforted me and gradually I dozed off.

The next day, my grandmother started preparing to leave as usual. But I stopped her and beckoned her to wait and meet Sam before she left.

“Good morning, grandmother,” I went over and gave her a warm hug.

"Good morning, my sweetest," she replied.

"Grandmother, please can you kindly wait for a while? I would love you to wait. I want you to meet my friend, Sam. I'm sure he'll be here any moment now.

“I'm worried he isn't punctual at all grandmother ... I mean, just look at the time. And he's not even here yet. "I hope I don't end up making you late, "I said, as I couldn't stop pacing around the house.

“My dear, come and eat. You must be famished, but by the time we're done eating, he's not there. I'm sorry, but I'll have to go”. Grandmother replied, smiling at me,

As soon as we were done eating, I heard a knock on the door.

“Grandmother, I think he's here”. I whispered.

“Then go open the door for him” she responded with a smile.

Alright then. As I rushed off to open the door, Grandmother quickly tidied up where we sat to eat.

“Hey!!” Sam said, raising his hands for a high five.

“Wait, what!! .... Hey!, too, I mean, is that how to greet, or if you don't want to greet me. Come on, tell me.

I said, folding my arms and giving a long face.

“Don't tell me you don't know how to welcome your visitor or your friend”. He said as I pretended to be searching for something.

“Tell me what you are searching for?” Sam asked.

“The visitor, of course”. I replied.

“But I'm right here!”. He retorted.

“No way, you are a total stranger, have you heard me? A total stranger”.

“Alright fine, then I agree with you, but at least I can get a warm welcome and can you kindly let me in?”. He requested with folded hands.

“No way. "There's no way I'm going to let you in”. I said to him.

“Oh, come on! "But why?” he asked.

"That's because you're late. "You said you were going to come early so you would meet my grandmother, but look at the time you're here. I quickly retorted.

While we were busy fighting at the door, my grandmother chipped in. She asked me to let him in and serve him some snacks. I went away after serving him and while I was out, she had a few questions for him, which he answered. And then he told her he would love it if I were permitted to follow him to his house. He said he had told his parents about me and that they wanted to meet me.

“You want Alexa to come over to your place?” Grandmother asked.

“Yes, grandmother, I promise she'll be fine. You can count on me for that”. Sam replied, trying to convince the grandmother.

“Alright then, let's ask Alexa if she'd love to come. If she agrees, I'm OK with it ". I'm sure she will. Thank you so much, grandmother.

“Alexa ... Alexa .. Where are you? I could hear Sam call out to me from the spot where I stood to eavesdrop on their conversation. I quickly ran out, pretending to come from the room. “So my dear, Sam wants you to join him at his place. "Are you fine with that? " Grandmother asked.
