"That is my guy right there," he mumbled.
Mrs. Caloy told Gael to pass later at her house so as to settle with her and he nodded in agreement, thanking him with all of his heart and wishing her a nice day.
"Take care soft and pretty damsel, and do not be sick again okay?" she told Yvonne but lost in Gael's actions, her tongue had disappeared into her mouth leaving her in a state of dissolved shock and tears running down her eyes, she had just had her first kiss but in a very rushed manner and with no iota of seriousness from the other person.
Yvonne wanted to yell out at Gael but knowing that Marco was still there, she kept her calm not wanting to create a fuss. Things were not straight in her head and she could not understand why he had done that, but trusting that he was just wanting to play with her feelings, she turned her head and looked at him again with her heart beating in her chest.
His mom had left the pot on the stove to come to check on Yvonne who was still on the mat. Her smile was brightened when she saw her a little bit better. Approaching her, she asked how she was feeling at that moment, and Yvonne said that she was feeling better, turned her head to Gael, and gave him a bitter look. Not knowing how to say it, she told Yvonne that she wanted to know whether she has any family members that could come and pick her up or take care of her since she could not stay with them for long.
Marco and Gael's eyes were flaunted openly when they heard Mrs. Cru, say that and Yvonne thinking that she was a burden as well, lowered her head in pain as she felt like a burden to them. Keeping her calm, she rolled her tongue in her mouth while thinking of what to say, and lifting her head, she told Mrs. Cruz that she was very sorry for being a burden to her and her family.
Her response was very clear as it stated that she was feeling sad but Gael's mom understanding that she had not gotten her question right, walked up to her and told her not to be mad as her question was harmless. Gael seeing that his friend was still around, asked Marco to accompany him to Mrs. Caloys house so that he could settle the bill he is having with her before she goes to her shift at the hospital.
Resisting his friend's sign, Marco behaved like he had not given attention to Gael but he rose to his feet and walked to him, pulling him by the arm and they left Yvonne and his mother alone to have a conversation. Looking at Gael going out, she felt the pressing need to ask him not to leave her alone but she could not as she needed to keep her dignity intact.
"Are you with my dear, or do you prefer to go with Gael?" his mother asked with a smile noticing how serious her gaze was on her son but Yvonne feeling embarrassed about the situation, told her that she could not understand what she was talking about.
Gael's mother was still a young woman though she decided not to get married again. Her life was not that sorrowful and when she was much younger, she was a bad girl with plenty of men trying their luck to have her in their lives but she chose Gael's dad amongst them all.
Asking Yvonne whether she wanted to have a woman-to-woman conversation with her, she felt her blood boiling in her body as sweat formed on her forehead leaving her with bright eyes and trembling lips.
"You do not need to feel shy with me Yvonne, I am a woman as well and I can tell when one is in love and you my dear are in love with my son and I think it is okay to be," she muttered but her words were not finished from her mouth when Yvonne cut in saying,
"Yes, I love him and I know it I Crazy because it has just been two days since we met but here I am in his house," she growled. Wanting to speak further, she heard her boiling pot letting out water and throwing on the flames, she was attracted by the sound.
Excusing herself, she went outside to check on the pot. It was giving just the consistency that she wanted and taking out a bowl to make some vegetable salad, she saw Yvonne struggling to come out as she held the door, Mrs. Cruz went closer to her to help before she falls.
"You should have asked for help dear, you are still not strong you know," she spoke out holding Yvonne to the bench that was outside but Yvonne not understanding why she was doing that, settled down slowly on the bench while she thanked her for her kindness.
"I am very sorry that things had turned out this way ma'am and I will place dome few calls now so that someone can come and pick me up from here in no time," Yvonne's words made out their way from her mouth but she looked weird and unhappy while saying so.
Apologizing for making her feel that way, Mrs. Cruz told her that it was not her intention to make her feel as though she was not welcomed in her house and all she was trying to do was to help her out because she noticed that she was not like them.
Yes, it was true that Yvonne was not familiar with their mode of life but being either with Gael made her not be scared of anything else but her mind was quickly brought back to earth when Mrs. Cruz on her chopping table, reminded her of the question that she had asked her inside the house but she had not answered her.
Yvonne's eyes had betrayed her before she could even open her mouth to answer her question. Lowering her head, she nodded reluctantly before asking her question. Clearing her throat, she asked Mrs. Cruz why she was so good to her even though she was someone she knew nothing about and her kindness towards her was shocking and her answer was,
"My son had never brought home any girl and I have never seen him let anyone talk to him like you did.
Gael is a quiet and reserved young man and not even his ex-girlfriend could understand him most of the time but you my dear, you bring out the smile on his face that I, his mother had never seen." Yvonne did not know what to say so staying mute was an option that she had so as not to get too excited about his mother's words.
"Bro, who is that lady that I saw in your house this morning and don't tell me that she is your new cash?" Marco asked having an angelic smile on his face but Gael brushed off his smile with a slack answer saying,
" She is not my girlfriend you dude," he responded keeping a straight face. Marco was not convinced about what he was saying so he asked him to pass Yvonne to her but the speed in which Gael used to say no was alarming.
"Common bro doesn't be like this, why are you so defensive all of a sudden?" he asked teasing Gael but he did not find it funny. Marco telling his friend that he was not interested in Yvonne because she was a girl of high class, told his friend to go for her because it was written all over him that he was madly in love with her.
Gael knew what he was feeling already for her though he did not want to show it. Passing by a shop, he saw some little gowns that were going to fit Yvonne very well so he remembered that his dresses were dirty and he went inside to get them. All through their walk, Lisa had been following them without making any sound.
She was on her way to Gaels home when he saw him and Marco walk past and she divided to follow them thinking that they were going somewhere to see another lady. She was not ready to give up on him despite the humiliation that she had been given at the beach the previous day.
Gael had not met Mrs. Caloy at home when he had gone there and Marco bent on making his life a living hell, told his friend that they had to discuss that but for the moment, he had to retire home to meet with his girlfriend who was to leave by evening.
Gael shook his hand and told him to have fun while he continued to look for a better dress for Yvonne.
