Chapter 19

1967 Words
His eyes flaunt open when he heard her talk to him and he found it difficult to believe that with all the anger that she was feeling inside, she still gave him such calm words. He had arrived at the conclusion that Yvonne was truly an angel in human form. She was already on her way to her car when she suddenly gave attention to his voice calling out her name from behind and when she turned around, he muttered slowly, "Can I at least drop you home if you do not mind?". His worry was based on her injury and knowing that she was not going to be able to drive on her own, he had asked that and before Yvonne could give him an answer, his mother's scolded the hell out of him, instructing him to drive her safely back to her house and to ensure that she gets some rest. She passed her car key to Gael and walked to the car waiting for him to unlock the doors of her car. Her eyes flashed on Mrs. Cruz and with a smile, she looked at her before finally opening the door to get inside. Gael stared at his mother and told her that he was coming back soon, he entered the car too and started the engine of the car. There was silence between them as he put on his seat belt. Yvonne was still mad with rage but she could not bear the idea that Gael saw her as a weakling just like how her mother saw her. Yes, that was how she saw things because her mother had not said it openly to her but she felt that her efforts were never enough to her and that was the reason why she preferred having that man she calls her husband run over her share of the wealth her late dad had left. Lisa, was still in the bush looking at Gael driving out of the lot with Yvonne and wondering where they were going, she decided to follow them. It was as though she had nothing to do with her life other than following him around despite the fact that she still has men with whom she loves to frolic around. The silence grew wider as Yvonne's head was leaned on her car door and her gaze counts all the trees in the neighborhood without missing out on any. To her, it was better that way than to face Gael with his ill words. Yvonne's eyes were filled with tears as she could not explain why she was feeling that way, but all she was aware of was the fact that she did not have to be weak for anything in the world. Her nightmare was going to be over as soon as she reaches her house for that was all she wished for at that particular point where she was. Her silence had made Gael feel that she was in deep pain and wanting to hold her hand, he noticed that Yvonne's hand was bleeding. " You are bleeding Yvonne," Gael painted out after seeing that, and only then did he remember that she had actually sustained a cut and they had not yet covered it. She remained indifferent even after listening to him and seeing that she was not responding, he extended his hand to her shoulder in an attempt to find out whether she was okay, but Yvonne without moving an inch from the position where she was sitting, led, "Don't you even think about it?" Gaels countenance had changed after knowing how serious she was and how deep his words had hurt her. Not wanting to be tacky, he still recognized that he was wrong so he tendered his apology to her without sounding like he was forcing her to accept it right away. "I am very sorry that I hurt you with my words, I tend to be very careless with them sometimes as I find it difficult to put myself together when faced with situations like this," his lips moved but to Yvonne, his apologies were as useless as a rotten vegetables at that moment and wishing that he could just accelerate the pedal so that she could reach home, she kept her stare on the natural environment that she was enjoying. The journey still seemed to be far and she wondered how she had gotten herself involved with a country boy in the first place, thinking to herself, she wondered if she was going to be able to trace her way back to his house if she ever wanted to see his mom again someday. Lisa was still tailing them and she did not care about the amount of money she was going to spend on transportation as she intended to deal with Yvonne in the best possible way and that was going to be her payback. The taxi that she had taken became worried after driving for some time and insisting to know where they were heading, Lisa only kept telling him to drive some more and not to lose the vehicle that was in front of them. Worried about what she had seen between her son and Crystal, Mrs. Cruz was reminded of her husband and how they had met some years ago when they were still young adults. He detested her with a passion and so did she because he was a flirt and his arrogance was not of this world. He always loved to flee with girls and to him, it was a fun fact as he and his friends always set up bets on the ladies that were going to accept to spend the night with them. Mr. Cruz was a bad girl but it was surprising how many of her age mates and even close friends, preferred to be with someone like him rather than to be with decent people or better still have their lives on track. She always gave him a piece of her mind, whenever she happened to run into him but as usual, it looked like the more she ran away from him, the more he pursued her. Her life was more peaceful whenever she did not have to catch sight of him but as days passed by without her catching a glimpse of him, it felt like something was not alright with her. With her thoughts running back in the, she smiled like a little girl as she saw the same thing happening to her son with the rich lady that he was trying to avoid his feelings for, but what Gael failed to understand was that, no matter how rich or beautiful a lady is, she was always going to need a man because the shoulder that she needs to cry on in difficulty, hits different depending the person who is there with her. She continued with her cooking while waiting for her son to return and hoping that they just have found a way to get to an understanding, her hands returned to their busy nature as they always are. Gael had driven throughout the natural atmosphere where he lived and he brought into the city their princess whole was in captive with him all through the night but unconsciously, Gael had enjoyed every time he spent with her and not wanting anything more than to redo it again, he had to be fair to himself as it was never going to happen again. Following the description that Yvonne had pressed on her car to serve as a localization pattern for Gael, he followed it while keeping his gaze on the road, and just when he had noticed that the line was getting finished on the dashboard, Gael saw a big building in the middle of the city and he was wowed by how beautiful the structure was. Feeling the edges of his lips getting heavier to even ask Yvonne whether she was living in such a building, his common sense tools home to just follow what he was seeing on the dashboard of the car as it was customized to give the location that was activated on it. Going down through the underpass, he saw that the parking lot was underground and that was something he had always been listening to but had never seen. "This lady must be living in luxury," his words spread all over his head but for fear of getting on Yvonne's nerves, he preferred not to say anything and to keep his mouth shut. Driving through and opening and stationing nicely in order not to disturb anyone that was coming in, Gael cut the contact by stopping the engine of the car. "Thank you," he gave attention to a sad voice that made his ears tremble in guilt. Yes, it was Yvonne who had just appreciated his effort to bring her back home and remove the seat belt that was on her, she felt Gael touch as his hard voice followed, "Let me help you." Eating to prove herself as been tough like she normally did, he told her to stop and informed her that he was not asking for her permission, Gael unlocked the door and stepped out of the car, taking her bag from behind the car and going in front to get her into his arms but Yvonne yelled out at him saying that she could manage. "Are you sure that you can manage?" he asked wanting to hold up to her but Yvonne getting irritated by everything he tried to do, shouted at him saying that she could manage. Reminding him of the fact that she was not a baby, Gael backed off not waiting to forget her madder than she was already. Walking slowly as he had to follow her rhythm, it was visible on her face that she was in deep pain but wanting to demonstrate to him that she could do well without anybody's help, she continued to limp. For some reasons that were unknown to him, Yvonne's pain was disturbing his innermost being but still not waiting to get her upset, he made an effort not to intervene but her swollen ankle as well as her cut finger, brought in a feeling of pity in him and without thinking of the consequences, Gael inclined himself on inside and before Yvonne could know what was going on, she was already in Gael's arms. Struggling with all the strength in her, she fought him but it was needless because her strength summed up together did not make up one-third of Gaels so she just had to deal with the issue like that. Trying to fight harder, some guys were driving in a range rover and seeing the whole scenario, one of the wine down their glass saying, "Bro if she is giving you so much trouble, just take her inside and make sure that you give it to her like never before, and then you will see her thanking you after the display." His words sank deep inside her ears and just with the way she had made her expression, Gael could tell that Yvonne was not happy with what the guy had said, and not letting it sly, she treated him as being a pervert. Her manner of saying it, made Gael laugh out loud not being able to control himself but that only made matters worst as Yvonne could not stand him anymore and she yelled out for him to put her down. Teasing her and standing in the same position with her in his hands, Yvonne turned her head and looking at the distance that was between her and the ground, she wondered how someone will carry up a lady like her without any form of respect.
