The Alpha's Rejected Luna

CHAPTER 3

“I didn't touch her, I swear. She was the one who threw herself down the stairs” Mia briefly explained when she spun around and saw Karl standing behind her with hardened eyes.

Instead of replying to her, Karl shoved her out of the way and raced down to where a now bleeding Lisa was. Mia stumbled from the force of his push and would have fallen to the found had it not been for Celine, who caught her.

Mia watched from the top of the stairs as Karl gathered Lisa into the arms he always used to hug her in the past.

“You better pray to God that nothing happens to both her and my child” Karl told her before rushing out of the pack house.

Mia froze, and her mouth dropped open in shock at Karl's words. When Lisa told her that she was pregnant with Karl's child, she thought it was a lie. Karl couldn't have cheated on her, but hearing it from his mouth now, she knew that it was true.

She collapsed to the ground as hot tears filled her eyes. She suddenly felt like she had been living a lie. How did everything suddenly take an U-turn? This wasn't how it was supposed to be.

Celine knelt down and grabbed her shoulders, “Mia I don't think you should be crying right now because he is with Lisa. I think you should be praying that Lisa doesn't lose her child”

Mia's eyes widened exasperatedly," I should be praying that she doesn't lose her child?” She asked incredulously," I will be the happiest woman alive if both she and her child dies”

Celine shook Mia with wide eyes, “you don't mean that, Mia. That's not just Lisa's child, but also the alpha's child and heir. The pack might not like Lisa, but they will turn against you if they were to find out that you killed the Alpha's child, and I think that's what Lisa wants. She purposely threw herself off the stairs because she knows that the people want you to be Luna and not her”

Mia's eyes popped open as the full impact of what Celine had just said hit her, knocking the breath out of her. Lisa truly planned everything. She must have seen Karl coming from behind her. If not, why had she suddenly pretended like Mia was going to attack her and throw herself off the stairs. Lisa was truly vicious. She didn't even consider her child before doing what she did. Lisa really wanted the position of Karl's Luna and the people's support so bad.

Mia scrambled to her feet, “we need to find Karl now. I need to make him understand that I did not push Lisa down. She fell by herself because she wanted to use it to rope me in"

Celine watched Mia rush out with sadness in her eyes. Mia was a good person, but Lisa was not. She was scheming and manipulative. For her to have done what she just did: throwing herself down the stairs, Celine would not be surprised if she also lost her and Karl's child.

She gathered herself together and ran after Mia. She knew that Mia must have gone to the pack's hospital. When she got to the hospital, she stopped at the door of the visitor's waiting room when her eyes fell on a crying Mia who was pressed to the wall by Karl who glaring down at her.

“You didn't touch her, yet she fell down the stairs, huh? Do I look stupid to you?”

“ I didn't touch her. This is all her plan to make me look bad. How many years have you known me, Karl? Do you think I will push anyone down the stairs? It's a f*****g stair we are talking about, Karl!” Mia cried furiously. She had run after Karl, hoping to explain everything to him, but before she could say a word, he grabbed her and shoved her against the wall with his hand curled around her throat in a tight grip.

She saw him deflect and his hold on her neck loosen for just a split second before it tightened again and his eyes hardened.

“You surely would, of course. You would do it because I chose her over you, Mia. It wasn't my fault that you couldn't get your wolf, nor was it the fault of my innocent child. You should have stayed in whatever hole you crawled into after I rejected you that night. You better pray that Lisa and my baby are alright” Karl spat the words before releasing her and walking away.

Mia slid down the wall to a heap on the floor as she watched him leave. She did not have more tears in her eyes to cry out. No matter what she said, Karl wouldn't believe her. It was almost like they had turned stranger's in the space of three days, and it was all because of her. All because she couldn't get her wolf. It was all the moon goddess's fault. If only the moon goddess gave her a wolf, all this wouldn't be happening. She and Karl would still be so much in love, and she would have been crowned as his Luna by now.

After some time, Mia stood up and began to walk home like a zombie. She could hear the pack members whispering as she walked past, but she couldn't hear what they were saying. Mia knew that the news must have spread around from the hospital nurses about how she tried to kill Lisa and the Alpha's child, as the looks she received were not the friendly one she was used to.

“Mia, what have you done?!” Gerald yelled when Mia got home.

“ I did nothing, father” Mia replied as she walked past him to her room

“What's going on, Celine? How did Mia push Lisa down the stairs?" Gerald turned to Celine when it looked as if he wouldn't be getting any response from Mia.

“She didn't touch Lisa. Lisa….” Celine went on to explain everything that happened and when she was done, Gerald's face was white with fear.

“Oh moon goddess, why is this happening to me?” Gerald cried as he collapsed on a sofa in his living room and Celine went to console him.

Approximately an hour later, there was a loud knock on the door and Gerald went to open it. Three men who worked as Karl's bodyguards were standing outside.

Gerald was surprised to see them. He forced a smile on his face, “Hello, gentle….” Gerald started, but was rudely interrupted.

“Where is Mia? The alpha needs her in his throne room now”

“ She is inside her room and…”

Gerald was rudely shoved aside by the men, who immediately rushed into the house to find Mia.

“What do you think you are doing?” Gerald yelled angrily as he turned and ran after them, but they had already found Mia's room.

“Leave me alone. Don't you dare lay your hands on me!!” Mia yelled. She had been crying in her room since she got back from the hospital. She was surprised when these three men she now recognized as Karl's men barged into her room and hurled her up from the bed.

“The alpha needs you in his throne room now” they ignored her protest and dragged her outside.

“I can walk by myself. Let me go!!”

They ignored her screams and continued to drag her with them. Even Gerald could not stop them. People from the pack came outside to watch as Mia was dragged to the pack house, and girls who also wanted to be Luna were glad to see her in this condition. Most of the pack members who wanted to see what was going on ran after them.

“What's going on, Alpha? What is the meaning of this?” Asked Karl when they got to his throne room and Mia was thrown at his feet. He had his back towards them and they could not see his face.
