A loud gasp escaped Krystal Bloodfang’s lips as her eyes shot open. A groan escaped her lips as she tried to sit. Her entire body ached and she couldn’t for the life of her figure out why.
Her eyes darted around the unfamiliar surroundings and her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Where the hell was she? She seemed to be in some kind of forest and there was no one in sight.
Her eyes widened in dismay as she realized that she was stark naked. What in the hell was going on? Why was she naked? Why couldn’t she remember anything from before she woke up?
She managed to get up from the ground, her cheeks red with embarrassment and her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She found some leaves and managed to make some makeshift clothes out of it, covering her body with.
She began wandering around the unfamiliar forest, stomach growling in hunger and mouth parched with thirst. After wandering around for a while, she came across a small stream.
Her heart leaped for joy as she raced toward the stream with every intention to drink but once she saw her reflection, she instantly stopped in her tracks, raising her confused eyebrow.
Someone else’s face was staring back at her. She slowly moved close to the water and her confusion grew. This was not the face she remembered having.
Her shoulder length black hair was now longer and she had no idea why she didn’t even notice it till now.
Her blue eyes now had flecks of gold in it and now she was clearly younger like she had aged backwards. Although there were a few similarities between this face and the one she had before, it was clear that they were not the same.
Krystal couldn’t figure out what was going on. She could remember her old features but she couldn’t remember what happened to her, why she was lying in an unfamiliar forest or why she looked different or younger.
“My child.” A beautiful voice she recognized said behind her and Krystal turned around with a start. Standing in front of her was an extremely beautiful and pale woman, dressed in white.
“Mother.” Krystal gasped, falling to her knees. This was Selene. The moon goddess. Her creator.
Selene moved closer to her, placing both hands on her cheeks. “My child. I know you are scared and confused, but you don’t need to be. I brought you back for a reason.”
Krystal’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion once again. “Brought me back? From where?”
Selene said nothing. Instead, she placed a warm hand on Krystal's head. Instantly, she regained some of her memories.
She remembered her siblings getting slaughtered by some masked men. She remembered how she died with several spears in her back and one in her back and the memories brought tears to her eyes.
“I heard your promise to get revenge and I brought you back in another body to do just that. Use your time wisely. You will not get another chance.” Selene said before drifting away.
Tears slithered down Krystal’s eyes. She has so many questions to ask. She wanted to know if her siblings had been brought back like she was. She wanted to know the ones behind the killings but it looked like she would have to find those answers herself.
Krystal wandered around the woods for a few days before she stumbled into a pack. She had no idea where she was and at that moment, she really didn’t care.
She just needed a place to sleep and some food to eat. She found herself in front of the gate and as a couple of guards approached her, she felt her strength fail her and instantly slumped to the ground as the world went black.
Krystal had no idea how long she had been unconscious for but after a while, her eyes slowly fluttered open.
They darted around the dimly lit room and she was unsurprised to see that she was once again in an unfamiliar place.
She gently sat up on the bed and was surprised to see that the leaves which she wore were now replaced by an old gray dress. Her eyes darted around in confusion as she had no idea where she was or who brought her here.
Her stomach rumbled loudly as she struggled to get out of bed. She might have gotten a place to stay but she was still hungry.
She managed to find the door out of the room and found herself on a long corridor.
The moment she stepped out of the room, the sweet aroma of freshly baked bread wafted its way into her nostrils and her stomach grumbled loudly in response.
Krystal couldn’t resist the aroma and she began to follow it instantly till she found herself in an extremely large kitchen.
Her stomach growled even louder as her eyes landed on a feast set up on the table. Bread, meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, potatoes and any kind of food you could name.
The feast was fit for a king. There was no one in sight and Krystal was incredibly hungry. She knew it was wrong but no one would know if she took just a small bite of the food.
She rushed toward the food and dug into it instantly. She began eating and she couldn’t help but let out a sigh at how delicious the food tasted.
She knew she only planned on taking a few bites but she couldn’t stop herself. She just kept eating and eating. Suddenly the door opened and a woman whom Krystal assumed was the chef stepped into the kitchen.
They both froze, eyes wide as Krystal’s heart began thumping loudly in her chest. She had been caught red-handed. She was in a lot of trouble.
“Thief!” The chef yelled as her face reddened in anger. “There is a thief in my kitchen!”
Krystal let out a gasp as her eyes grew wide instantly. She dropped the food and tried to escape but the chef caught her. The two women struggled but Krystal was stronger and she managed to scamper away.
The moment she stepped outside the door, she was caught by not one or two but three guards and one of them grabbed her roughly by the front of her clothes.
“So you’re a thief,” He growled aggressively. “Do you know what we do to thieves in Winter Claw?”
Krystal shook her head as her entire body trembled.
“We hang their heads on a spike.” Another guard answered.
