PATRICE’S PLAN FOR the afternoon, complicated by the presence of Claude and Christophe, was to make the general store the first stop. The boys would get their candy while Patrice introduced Abraham to the shopkeeper. Lunch at Madame Archambeau’s Café, the gens de couleur restaurant, would be the next and final stop for the boys.
