They Are Not Ordinary

CHAPTER 22

ASHTER STARR

I don't know why but I feel like I know this wolf.

I stared at its eyes for a while it's like saying something to me but I couldn't seem to know. Then suddenly it lowly growled at me my body immediately shuddered in fear, and it was walking towards me slowly.

I gulped and closed my eyes as I waited for the impact to come but it didn't so I opened my eyes to see that the wolf is just smelling me. I looked at it confused. and it starts walking backward.

"Wait" I called for it and it stopped, then I walked towards it slowly and cautiously then when I was near it I raised my right arm gently, it growled at me again and I flinched back but I still held my arm up firmly.

I don't even know what am I doing, I could lose my arm from what I am doing, or worse it could swallow me wholely, and then a part of me also wanted to touch it because it seem different from the other wolves that I encountered.

I just closed my eyes and waited for it to come at me, then in a few seconds I felt a warm and ticklish feeling in my palm, I opened my eyes to see the wolf placed its head on my palm. I smiled softly and gently rubbed it up and down like I was petting it.

Damien was definitely right, not all of them were bad. There are still good ones out there like this one here. I wonder who it is and why did it treat me differently.

Then suddenly a loud howl comes from outside making the wolf howl back which made me frighten a bit because the howl is so loud and scary.

It looked at me one last time like it was begging at me before it vanished in just a blink. I tried to search for it but I guess it had already gone out of the house and went to its group.

"Ashter?! Are you alright?" I jumped up in surprise when I heard someone call for me. I turned around to see Zachary and relief washed all over my body. "Damn you I had a hard time finding you"

"Uhhh... Yeah, I'm alright... Sorry..." I told him casually not being obvious that I got an interaction with a wolf. I tried not to think about it because Zachary will immediately know.

I cleared my throat and spoke again "So did you find it?"

"Yeah we already did, I was about to tell you that" Zachary informed me as he showed me the small vault from his backpack.

"Geez I didn't know it's gonna be super small" I commented, I was expecting a bit big vault but I guess I am wrong.

"Yep me too," He said as we walked upstairs, I am walking alongside him. "Let's get the hell out of here, the wolves already signal their other group to come at here to attack us"

"You heard their minds?" I asked as we went inside the room where Maxima is impatiently waiting for us.

"Yeah it wasn't hard though because their thoughts are too loud, to be honest"

"So like you can hear anything? Even though it's far away?" I asked again.

"No, we can't hear that far. We can only hear if they are near enough, like for example this whole forest, I can hear some of them but the others I can't anymore because they are too far and not to mention our ability is limited" He explained to me

"Ohh okay" I mumbled, hoping that he doesn't read mine.

"Let's go! what took you so long?! we are gonna get killed if we don't get out now," Maxima said, she had this furious expression on her face, and also I can see that she was scared too.

"I just got lost I am sorry" I apologized because I am the reason why we got too long.

"Whatever let's just get out of here" Maxima rolled her eyes before she jumped out of the window.

"Don't mind Sima there, she is just scared fighting with wolves again because she knows that it will end badly for her and for us also if we don't get out" Zachary softly told me as he bent down both of his knees so I could easily ride his back again.

"Yeah sorry though for making you both wait for too long, I shouldn't have wandered around" I apologized again.

"It's alright, let's just hope we can get out of here," Zachary said before jumping out of the window and swiftly climbing up to the tree.

I wondered who was that wolf...

Maybe I will find out soon...

"Why are we here?" I asked confused when Zachary stopped at the school parking lot "It's a little bit late I think no one is around here?"

"I need to talk to someone" Zachary simply said before unbuckling his seatbelt and going out of the car. I just shrugged then proceeds to follow him. I didn't ask any more questions because I don't want him to think I am annoying.

So it's just only the two of us. We dropped Maxima in the middle of nowhere.

I swear vampires live in weird places, but I guess I understand because they need to hide their identity.

She told us she is going to run some errands and when she is free she is going to visit Damien before he left.

I don't know what they are but I felt kinda jealous because I felt like their something between them and it's obvious that Maxima likes Damien. But I shrugged it off because Damien is just a close friend to me...

"Hey, where are we going?" I asked as I tried to catch up with him.

"Don't you ever get tired of asking?" He asked obviously annoyed.

"What? This is the first time I asked again?" I defended myself.

He is so moody. Earlier he was just sweet and soft but then now he turned into being an asshole again.

"Whatever" He grumbled "We are going to see the principal"

"Principal? At this time of night? I don't think she's here though" I furrowed my eyes at him. I was totally confused. Why would he need to see the principal now?

"Where is it again? I forgot" He asked as he scratched the back of his neck. I instantly lead the way until we got into the main office which is closed.

It was so obvious because there is a huge 'CLOSED' sign posted at the entrance.

"s**t" I cursed,

"I told you already they are closed" I turn to Zachary who ignores me and opens the door like it was his own house.

"What the heck are you doing Zachary!? we can get in trouble!" I whispered yelled he but kept walking not listening to the words I am saying.

"Will you just relax for a moment? she is expecting us, so just be quiet and behave like a good girl" he said before making his way around the secretaries desk and into the room all the way in the back where the principal's main desk is.

I sighed as I looked around nervously before following him. Who the f**k is expecting us? And also who the heck lives in the school?

We entered and the room was dimly lit and there are candles laying around. Honestly, it looks creepy as f**k.

"Zach are you sure we are in the right place because it seems lik-"

"Miss Judy come out now we are already here" Zachary cut me off as his voice boomed around the room a flinched a little at the harshness in his tone he had a very dominant voice.

"Hey it's not nice to yell at women," the silky smooth voice said it finally appeared out of the darkest side of the room.

I have never really seen the principal before in person, so I guess this will be the first time meeting her.

A very tall and pale woman stood in a dark red dress as she walked closer to us.

As she walked closer I noticed that she have this red lips and glimmering yellow eyes.

So I guess everyone is a vampire in this town? Geez, now I wouldn't be surprised if Jane and my other friends are Vampires too...

"We need to talk about Damien's attendance"

"Right yes, he missed what? More than a month? that boy really needs to get that under control. There's only so much I could do for that fighter maniac"

"Don't call him names I thought we are already done with this?" Zachary growled. "Look Damien is sick and he really needs to see an expert doctor to check on him"

"Oh Zach, when are you going to learn that in the end there won't be anything that you could do for him. He always getting in fights, trouble, and honestly getting his nose in places where it doesn't belong it was his fault he's sick right now" She pursed her lips mockingly.

"We can always handle that" Zachary muttered

"Whatever helps you guys sleep at night" she's shrugged not even caring as she walked back to her desk.

"We will be gone for a month possibly more" Zachary continued as he seemed to ignore the remark of the taller woman.

"Wow! You sure are cracking me up today is Mr. Zach" she laughed almost taking him as a joke.

"Do you see me joking?" Zachary pointed at his face indicating that he wasn't joking and had been serious this whole time. "I'm dead serious, his in a very bad condition he's ... dying"

I can see how hard Zachary swallowed at the word.

"I will only give you a week or two weeks tops" she responded not even glancing up as she read the papers on her desk.

"No that's not-"

"Enough this s**t" her voice boomed loudly causing the whole room to shake. I flinch back as chills went down my spine. I went back behind Zachary. I looked at him and so that he was clenching his fist...

The Judy girl hadn't even noticed I was here or maybe she just doesn't really care about anything.

I note to myself that never get myself in trouble so I wouldn't have an encounter with this scary woman.

"Two weeks. That's all I'm giving you the council is already up to my ass about his constant disappearance. I will not put in my job and life at risk for that boy"

In an instant, Zachary was right in front of her desk as he slammed his hands down. Glaring at her with pure anger.

"Hmm, feisty are we?" She mocked clearly amused with Zachary's annoyance and aggressiveness.

"How dare you say that! you agreed to be in our squad and now you're treating us this way, how bullshit? I don't even know why our father let you in"

"Oh please, the only thing I care about is Vincent not his little pest" She laughed without humor "He let me in because we have known each other for a while before he met you, troublemakers. Also if it wasn't for me you guys would survive until this day"

Zachary didn't say anything but I could hear his heavy breathing of anger as he glared at her intensely.

"Two weeks" She repeated, clearly it was a final decision for her.

"Anyways I have an antidote here you can take it, that boy might need it since he is almost dying" She shrugged as she tossed Zachary a vial filled with color red fluid.

Zachary caught it with ease without even looking at it. He was too busy glaring at the tall woman.

"Thanks but we already have many medicines for him to recover" Zachary bitterly spat and the woman just shrugged, not really caring about the whole situation about Damien.

Zachary glared at her for a little longer before he gently grabbed my wrist and dragged me to the exit.

"Let's go" he mumbled, I can still hear the anger in his voice and it made me scared, to be honest.

I just wish he doesn't take his anger out on me.

"Oh, I forgot Zachary" the tall woman called making Zachary stop and his track, his hand was grabbing the doorknob so tightly his knuckles were even more white than his skin.

"You always protect him at everything and always have his ass saved by you, but you can't always protect him and you won't be always there. You can try all you want but it won't be long soon you'll find yourself in danger too because of that boy" She stated. Zachary didn't say anything as he opened the door and stormed out with me beside him.
