CHAPTER 21

ASHTER STARR

"Hey don't act surprised I know you suspected me the first time I got here" Maxima raised her eyebrows at me "and also don't worry I won't tell coach about you ditching training again"

Right, of course, she read my mind in just a blink. These vampires, I hate their abilities damn it, I thought only one vampire is supposed to have that kind of ability but I guess the movies are wrong.

"Oh don't blame us, it's just your thoughts are too loud" She shrugged then she walk towards me and started to run her fingers in my chin. "So this is the famous human who knows about us and stole Damien's heart"

"Damn you do smell good," She said as she bent down to sniff my neck. Which is weird of course.

"Uhh... Thanks?" I really don't know what to say so I just thanked her.

"Your funny" She winked and I just put up my fake smile because I felt so awkward around her, Then she went beside Zachary again and they started talking.

"So where is it?" I heard Zachary asked

"It's in my house, but I am warning you I am not going home anymore because wolves are going to attack the second we step in my house" Maxima informed him.

I didn't mean to eavesdrop but they are talking loud enough for me to hear.

"How did they find you?"

"I don't really know but then one day they started attacking my house, I barely escaped since the whole place was already surrounded by wolves" Maxima went on "I don't even know we did they find me, so yeah what we are about to do right now is very risky, we might not make it out"

"Anyways how they didn't find your house yet?" Maxima asked Zachary.

"We are good at hiding and sometimes use our powers to manipulate then you know" He shrugged.

"Well, that sucks because the skill that I only have is reading minds and super strength which sucks" Maxima sighed. "So what are we going to do now?"

"Well, maybe we could use her? You know? they wouldn't attack us because she has a human scent?" Zachary suggested which made me shocked.

"Well, that's up to her if she agrees," She said then both of them looked in my direction.

"What?..." I pretended not to know what they are talking about but my body tells different.

"Don't act like a fool we know you heard it all" Zachary rolled his eyes "So are you willing to do something?"

"I don't know... If it involves me dying I am 100% out" I told them honestly.

"No, you won't die okay? As long as you are human wolfs are not going to attack" They both said in unison which made me creep out a bit.

"Tell me what is it for first before I agree" I demanded

"We will tell you on the way because it's going to be a long journey to her house," Zachary said

"Fine," I agreed "but if you are going to give me a bullcrap answer I will just go home"

"Yeah yeah we will give you answers," Zachary told me as they started walking towards my car and Zachary went to the driver's seat "I'm going to drive if you don't mind?"

"Yeah sure," I said as I entered the car, as soon as we drive I immediately fell asleep.

"Where are we?" I asked as I woke up. I literally fell asleep the whole ride which sucks because I didn't see where we headed, but right now we are in the middle of the road covered with huge trees which made me creep out a little bit. I look behind me and saw that we are the only car driving around. "Guys where are we?"

"We are almost there just relax," Zachary told me without removing his eyes on the road.

Relax? How can I relax when I am in the same car with two vampires and in the middle of nowhere how can I relax? they might throw me out of the car and leave me on this creepy road.

"Gosh you are so dramatic, we are not going to kill you if that's what you are worried about," Zachary said, I can hear the annoyance in his tone

"And if we kill you the wolves are going to hunt us down" He muttered quietly to himself but I heard it.

"Okay," I simply said. Then I remembered that I didn't exactly know what I am going to do and what am I going to get. "So are you going to tell me what are we doing in here and what am I gonna do?"

"Oh yeah right I didn't tell you because you fell asleep" Zachary said as he cleared his throat "So Damien is badly injured right? So we need to get the antidote for him to make him feel okay for a while before we left the town to find some new medicine or even a doctor. So as you heard earlier that antidote, Maxima is the only one who holds the medicine and she is also the one creating for us but then again as you heard earlier, the wolves tracked her house down and started to hunt her and then blah blah the fighting, Maxima barely got out of that mess and she left all her things in her house so that's we are going to, and we need you to go and retrieve that antidote for us because you are the only one who doesn't smell like a vampire and of course you are human. They wouldn't notice it."

"But I am warning you some of them are still wandering around and hoping that Maxima will come back so be careful and be attentive in your surrounding okay? Don't worry we will be watching you at the top of the trees and the first we heard you scream we are going to get you out immediately" Zachary added and I gulped. I don't know if I have the guts to do that, in just his warnings my whole body is already shaking.

"Don't worry you won't be defenseless, I'm going to give you a shotgun that I have in my trunk so you can have something to defend you somehow"

"What?! I don't even know how to hold a gun" I told him incredulously "I might kill myself by holding that gun"

"Fine maybe a shotgun is a bad idea because it's too heavy, I will give you a pistol instead," He told me

"Well that's a relief, I have held a pistol before so I think I got this," I told him confidently.

"Well then prepare yourself Ashter," Zachary said, as the car slow down in the middle of the highway.

"What are you doing?" I asked him and he immediately shushed me.

"Someone is here I can smell it," Zachary said as he cautiously looked around.

"Yeah they are definitely here, I can smell different scents, maybe this is a bad idea Zach" Maxima commented quietly.

"No, we are already here so we should finish what we plan to do" Zachary mumbled and then turned around to face me "Once we got out of this car I am going to need you to jump into my back okay?"

"Why?" I asked which made him groan

"Just do as I say no more questions" I raised my hand up in defense as I use one hand to pretend to zip my mouth.

We all unbuckled our seats and placed our hands on the door handle before looking at each other "On the count of three we open outdoors at the same time okay?"

"3... 2... 1... now" We all opened the door and once I got outside I swiftly jump to Zachary's back and he immediately climbs up the tree as fast as he could. In my peripheral view, I saw a big white wolf it's like waiting for us to come out of the car. And gaze to the other side and I saw Maxima climbing up a tree next to us. As soon as we got up in the tree Zachary dropped me gently. I felt nauseous from how fast Zachary carried me.

"Did you guys see the white wolf?" I asked them as I forced myself not to vomit.

"Yeah I know that's why I run as fast as I could" Zachary breathed out as he tried to catch his breath "I wondered why it didn't attack us"

Then our tree suddenly shook we thought it was a wolf but it was only Maxima who jumped to our tree.

"Did you see the black wolf?" Maxima asked she was also still panting from the running they did.

"No, we only saw the white one" I answered her.

"s**t, how did they know that we are coming" Zachary cursed as he ran his hand through his curls stressfully

"Maybe it's because they picked up our scents from far away?" Maxima said as she sat down to rest for a while.

"So what now?" I asked, obviously this means that we are doomed because it's clear that the wolves are already surrounding us.

"We will come with you but we need to move as fast as we can" Zachary had a new idea again because the situation got worse. But I am thankful because they are coming with me. "Sima do you know exactly where your antidotes are?"

"I don't clearly remember but I know I put it in a small vault, we will see that easily because we all know what does vault look like," Maxima told him as she finally caught her breath and stood up

"Damn it, okay so we will split up once we get to the house" Zachary instructed

"See that? That's my house right there we are so close"

We all looked in the direction where a large red chimney is sticking out.

"That's nice we are already close, so we are going to jump around the trees because we can't risk going back down okay? Ashter you can ride my back again so you wouldn't fall" I nodded and started to jump into his back again.

"Well let's all stick to the plan so nothing could go wrong okay?" Zachary demanded and we both nodded.

"Okay let's go"

We finally reached Maxima's house after a few tree jumping. I honestly feel like I was going to be sick because of the fast motion.

"Wait I need to rest for a bit," I told them as I sat on the tree branch while covering my mouth.

"Fine but we need to hurry we don't have much time," Zachary said before he looked around to check if it's clear.

After a few minutes, I recovered myself and I stood up.

"I'm ready" I informed them.

"Okay let's go" I climbed to Zachary's back again before we jumped to the roof of Maxima's house. "Okay, now we will split up, remember we need to find the antidote okay? No more other things."

"As for you Ashter just yell for us if you saw something or if you are in danger okay" Zachary softly told me and I nodded.

"Okay be careful guys" In just a second both of them split up and they are already inside the house when here I am on the roof still trying to find a way inside.

I walked around the roof and saw my entrance which is an open window. I jumped down carefully not to break my bones.

When I successfully jumped down I noticed that I was in the attic, it was a bit dark so I took out my phone from my pocket and turn the flashlight on.

Surprisingly there are only a few boxes around, like five boxes and to be honest, this is the cleanest attic I have ever seen.

I tried to search from the boxes but I got no luck because it's mostly junks of Maxima and some photo albums that look so old, so I decided to go down the hatch and finally got inside her house. I saw the two other rooms were already occupied by Zachary and Maxima so I went downstairs to search for the 'antidote'

As I walk around the living room I gotta say this house was pretty decent, I thought it's going to be messy and filled with weird stuff and blood mostly, but I guess you shouldn't immediately judge someone just because they are different.

After a few minutes of searching, I still don't have any luck of finding that stupid antidote and I was already getting impatient.

Then suddenly a loud thump made me jump in surprise but got back in my searching because I figured that it was only Zachary.

"So did you have any luck finding it?" I asked him as I kept searching on the cabinet.

I waited for him to answer but when I got no response I frowned.

"Hey, Zachary I asked you If you---" I turned around and my body froze from what I saw.

A big wolf with two large yellow orange eyes staring right at me.

Shit...
