CHAPTER 31

ASHTER STARR It was Tuesday morning, the sun has risen, the light coming from my window suddenly woke me up. After finishing my morning routine, I went downstairs and saw a note from the fridge saying that my mom left early because she went to the groceries and no breakfast had been served. I decided to get take out from Starbucks instead because breakfast in our cafeteria is lame. The Starbucks from my house is like 500 meters away. After getting some croissants and a hot chocolate I made my way to the school. As I walked into the school entrance I met the girls which is a relief because I don't have to eat in the cafeteria by myself. The girls and I sat comfortably in the cafeteria talking some random shits while waiting for the bell to ring. When the bell rang signaling us that we all should start moving towards our first period, I and the girls said goodbye to each other before proceeding to our classes. The math room was a bit far from the main doors so I have to walk longer than I usually do which made me annoyed. My first class this second semester was Math which sucks, it was painfully slow for me who sat alone none of my friends had been scheduled for this class. Of course, since the first semester has ended the professor will have to discuss the new syllabus and what topic we are having for the next few weeks before proceeding to the next topics. the topics are quite hard for me and especially for others, Precalculus, Trigonometry, Algebra II, Algebra I, Geometry and etc. It's only the first day of the second semester but the others are giving up already. Luckily our prof was quite nice and he didn't want to put much pressure on us so most of today's class is most concerned with seating arrangements, the introduction of the students all over again, and giving us our new textbooks. Finally, the bell rang signaling the end of the first period. It was honestly music to my ears. I collected my bag from the floor and filled it with my new textbooks. I flung my bag over my shoulder and made my way out to the door joining some students hurriedly moving throughout the hallway. Once I was outside I made my way to my next period which is Biology. I entered the classroom and made my way towards an empty seat located in the second row. I threw my bag under the desk and sat down, I rummage through my bag finding the textbook that our math professor gave to us this morning, and proceeded to read the contents, the solving problems, the formulas that my prof has given to us while waiting for my second period. Only five minutes left before my second-period start, I placed my book back in my bag again and sat up properly waiting for the next teacher. I stare outside the window and wondered how Damien and the boys are doing. I hope they are okay, and I hope Damien's sick are cured by now because if it didn't that would be hard for him. I try not to think about them too much nowadays because the more I am expecting them to come home the more the time and day go slower. I am actually doing pretty well because I haven't thought about them this morning until now. Man, I should really get myself busy every time so I can avoid thinking about Damien. "Good morning class" My thoughts were interrupted when an unfamiliar voice came from the doorway getting the attention of us students. he walked to his desk, He put his bag, laptop and a projector at his desk, I was surprised because he was pretty good-looking. Not to mention he was pale and his looks were like from centuries ago which made me think that he is definitely a vampire. Damn even our professors are vampires. Little did my classmate know we are living in a town full of supernatural shits. "Good Morning again Class, I'm Professor Vincent sparrow nice to meet you all" He introduced. I heard some girls whispering at the back 'Omg he's so handsome', 'that's is the hottest prof ever' I rolled my eyes at how blatant my classmate is. Wait... Vincent? Why does that sound familiar?... I just couldn't put a finger to it... I brushed the thought away and just focused on what are we going to do. "You can call me Prof. Vin for short, Anyways I bet you are all confused since you don't recognize my face from before. I'm just a substitute teacher here because your original professor from this subject got sick so here I am "So anyway I'm here to teach you biology......" He was cut off by the door flung open widely. I sighed in relief, seeing two familiar faces standing awkwardly at the door. "Late on the first day of the second semester are we?" Prof Vin smirked "Ummm sorry prof, We got stuck in the hallway and We're far from this classroom," Sophie nervously said. "I'm kidding, it's okay, take a seat girls" He smiled at them. The girls saw me waving at them and they immediately approached me and took the empty seat beside me. "Hi Ashter, we didn't expect to see you here" Sophie greeted warmly as she threw her bag under the desk and situated herself on the chair "We actually didn't know we are going to have the same second class" "I didn't expect it to" I chuckled lightly "Yeah we focused on talking about our first class yesterday and we have forgotten to check our other schedules but I'm glad we all are finally in the same class" Sophie smiled as she sat on the empty seat. I was now in between them. "So what did Aliana have in the second period?" "She has History I remember her telling me this morning" Sophie answered "Anyways how's your first period?" "Literature in the morning is lit," Jane said happily, which doesn't surprise me because she is fond of reading books "It's fun actually, We find out some fictional works of unknown writers" "I wish I have literature too! Ugh having math in the morning makes my day ugly" I groaned. "Hey, girls quiet please" Prof Vin scolded. "Sorry prof" I apologized as Sophie and Jane were just quietly laughing. They are such a dork. "Alright students, Here are your textbooks" He handed the new textbooks to the students in front. "Get one and pass" "Okay class, I'm going to let you watch a presentation, it includes organelles like the nucleus, nucleolus, DNA (chromosomes), and ribosomes, this will be our first topic before moving on to the new lessons," Prof Vin said as he started the presentation. "I want you to take down notes and do an advance reading at your house," He noted The girls watched the presentation intently while taking down notes, after the presentation, Prof Vin explained some functions of the organelles and our syllabus for this semester while the other girls at the back drooling over him not paying attention to what he is saying. Damn these girls really be thirsty for a 30 year old man. After explaining prof Vin told us to introduce ourselves in the front. "Why do we need to go in the front?" Jane muttered irritatingly "Because that is how you introduce yourself Jane" Sophie rolled her eyes playfully "Don't be so dramatic we have been doing this since we are little kids, just suck it up" "What is his name by the way?" Sophie asked me quietly "Vincent Sparrow, He was just a substitute teacher here since our original prof got sick" I informed them about the details. "Oh I hope that our original prof would always get sick so we can get this substitute teacher every day," Sophie said while eyeing our prof. "Please don't tell me you're into him too?" I shooked my head in disbelief. "He's not that interesting" Jane commented "Truth!" Jane and I high-fived each other. "Well to be honest to you he looks like an old man and I even bet that he already has kids so stop drolling and fantasizing about a married man" Jane teased which made Sophie glare at her. "Hey I never said I was fantasizing about him dude, that's weird" Sophie defended herself. Jane and I just let out a small giggle. "It's your turn miss" Prof Vin pointed at me which I didn't notice because I was busy chatting with my friends. "Hey, Ashter it's your turn!" nudged me. "Ohh sorry" I made a way to the front to introduce myself "Hi my name is Ashter Starr and I'm 17 years old" I introduced myself in front of my classmates. I turned my head to the professor and saw him looking weirdly at me. "Ashter?, I feel like I know you..." He said as he examine my whole face from afar. I gulped because I felt suddenly scared. Why the f**k I am getting goosebumps all over my body? "Ahh sorry never mind, I just thought you are someone I know, but you aren't, my bad miss Ashter" He smiled at me while brushing the topic of. I was totally confused but I made my way back to the seat. What the heck just happened?... Geez, I must have been out of my mind. I just need to relax a bit. After introducing themselves that weird prof announced that the rest of the class was free time the classroom immediately broke out into noisy chattering students, everyone was chatting enthusiastically with each other, talking about random things, and getting t know each other well. Until the bell rang students start deserting the room altogether. Something about that professor just freaks me out... And I don't even know why... I looked at him one last time before heading out of the room. "Jane, Sophie what's your next period?" I asked once we are in the hallway walking. "I have math" Sophie responded "Uhmm wait I forgot," Jane said as she took her phone and checked what is her next period. "I have Chemistry" Jane and I answered in unison. "Wait, what?" I asked surprised "Chemistry Ashter" Jane chuckled "I have Chemistry too," I said happily "Yeah I know I'm not deaf, I just heard what you said dumbass" I smack her in the arm playfully making her whine. "Man I'm getting tired of you, why do you have to be in my class every time" I jokingly said. "Shut up, you love me and you will miss me if I won't be in your class" Jane threw me a smirk and I just stuck my tongue out to her. Sophie just laugh at our small banter. "Awwe you guys are lucky you have each other, well I'll leave it to you guys, see you at lunch" Sophie winked as she walked away to her next class. "Come on now Ashter, we have 3 minutes to get in class," Jane said, taking my hand in hers as she dragged me to the hallway through the sea of hasty students. - After what like seemed an eternity, the bell rang ending my class today, 2 hours Literature is hell, which is a practically sleepy subject but it was fun for me because I love to read some new fictional works of famous writers. It was really a long freaking day for me damn, second semester is much harder than the first one. Now that the bell rang I practically jump out of my chair, eager to leave because I am going to be late for my training, after saying goodbye to my prof I head straight through the hallway and went to my locker to get my training stuff. Leo and I don't have practice today since we are all busy and we have a hard time practicing since the schedules have been changed, they have to postpone it for today so they can discuss the new time to practice. After getting all of my stuff from my locker I ran to the nearest restroom. I took off my ripped jeans and my oversized black sweater, changing to shorts and a simple t-shirt. Now that I am finally dressed, I looked at myself in the mirror tying my hair into a ponytail, and last thing I rummaged through my bag to find a pair of socks and my Nike rubber shoes. Once I was done fixing myself I threw my bag over my shoulder and ran outside the restroom to go to the gym for my long ass training again. I sighed as I opened the door of the gym. Nothing much interesting and unusual happened today except for that weird substitute teacher. I will definitely ask Damien about him and everything, I somehow feel like they have a connection or something. I just know it because my guts are telling me and my guts have never failed me in my entire life.
