"What's it like being a werewolf?" I asked across the table in a whisper.
"Be quiet"
"Do you guys actually lose control on full moons?" I asked again, tapping my nails on the table.
"Stop talking"
"What happens if you bite me, would it actually turn me like the books say?" I shot another question and Justin finally looked over his book and dead eyed at me.
"Shouldn't you already know all this being a member of the hunts?" He asked, and I sat back with a pout, it was clear he didn't like me, especially after Anna had shot him, but I was in a situation where I needed to know more.
"Are werewolves actually hurt by silver?" I leaned forward again. "Anna told me that was a myth hunters made up centuries agon to calm scared people down and give them a little bit of a sense of security."
He didn't answer, instead Justin snapped his book shut loudly and stood with a huff, placing it back on the shelf and taking another, I hadn't even realized but he had gone through more than half of it in just the half an hour we had been there.
"I heard that Alphas decide who mates with whom in their pack, is that true?" I asked another question as soon as he sat again and I saw visible frustration rise as he furrowed his eyebrows and tried to focus, opening the book and holding it up so he couldn't see my face.
"How fast can you guys really move, I mean I saw you cover at lest twenty feet in the literal blink of an eye, but what's the fastest you've ever gone, and on top of that I wonder, can you take a bullet to the head and live, like how fast can you heal?" I fired relentless question after question wanting some kind of answer, but Justin was like a rock, he stopped trying and simy ignored everything I said, even as I saw him become angry and calm down several times, and then the second classes ended and he stood.
"Let's go." He closed the book and placed it in front of me.
"Ah, no, I don't trust you to take me anywhere."
"It's not anywhere, I'm taking you to the diner across the street, how much longer can you hold out before you start getting sick?" He asked and I realized what he meant and sat back with a raised eyebrow. "Come on, stop starving yourself." He reached out his hand to me.
Then as soon as I reached out to take his hand he drew back his hand and walked away. "Hurry up."
This bastard was just as much of a pain in the ass as I was, that much was clear, but I couldn't ignore the hunger, I hadn't eaten since the day before, even ignoring dinner and staying locked in my room, I really was starving if I kept this up.
He didn't actually seem interested in anything at the diner, he simply went in and took a seat in the back and watched, at this time of day it was more crowded because the students that didn't have classes frequented the small diner like ants to crumbs, and I could tell by the way he looked at them that he thought less of humans, and I couldn't even blame him, even I as a human thought less of us, I'd be just like them if I was not a part of the Hunt family, ignorant, brain dead zombies following whatever they see and hear, barely thinking for themselves at all, it truly is pathetic how little people know about the world they live in-
"Here's your order miss." The waitress called me out of my mental rant and I spun around taking the dish from her grasp and pulling the coffee off the table. "You don't often come in here do you?" She asked, and I stopped as I was about to walk away and looked at her.
"There are literally hundreds of faces in here every day how could you possibly remember me?"
To my question she smiled and pointed with a chin gesture to the roads outside. "Your girl leaves a new skid mark every time she comes by, so of course I'd remember the one she's always dropping off." She reminded me and I sighed, of course everyone was thinking Anna was my girl, made sense, but with the amount of time I was about to spend with the twins my reputation was about to change again.
"Yeah, she's a wildcard huh?" I chucked closed-eyed, not even bothering to deny it."
"Ah, so I was right then?" She smiled at me then looked over the many tables at Justin. "I thought you were gonna say you have a boyfriend."
"OH him, nah, that's... he's new to Hollow University." I said then smirked and leaned in closer to her. "He told me he saw you yesterday and thought you were cute, I bet he's looking at us right now." I whispered and sure enough when we both looked across the diner he was staring at us, not cause he liked her of course, but because he was hearing the conversation.
"He's pretty cute too, but I'm much more interested in you." The waitress leaned closer to me and whispered back.
"M-me?" I stepped back almost dropping my cake.
"Yeah, I see you strutting to and fro every day, and wearing all that baggy clothes but we both know there's a killer bod under all that fluff huh?" She smirked at me reaching forward and poking at my sweater, sure enough the space she poked at was nothing but empty air meant to deceive everyone, it had always been a part of my attempt to remain unseen.
"Ah, sorry, I'm already taken." I quickly backed away and turned toward Justin.
I could see his taunting smile from across the room, pissed me off.
Approaching him I saw a girl sit next to him and place a hand on his, he was more shocked than I'd expected as he turned and looked at her, I didn't know where it was going but it seemed like a fun little break to have between classes, that's until I realized she had taken the last seat and the entire diner was full now.
"Seat's taken." Justin gave her a deadpan shutting her introduction off and looking at me as I approached.
"What, by her?" she asked looking up at me as I came to a stop in front of them.
"Yeah," He replied with a smirk at me, "I don't like the drama, but if you don't leave Kay's gonna kick your ass, and im not gonna stop her." He hyped me up causing me to cringe as I silently stood before them.
"She has a girlfriend." The girl turned back to him with a smile, seriously, did everyone think Anna was my girlfriend, what the hell? "Don't pretend, I know you're new."
"Seriously just shut the hell up and get the f**k out of my seat you horny bitch." I leaned to the side and kicked the table under her hand causing her to jolt and turn at me ready to snap, but Justin grabbed her by her hand before she could do anything and pushed her out of the way, and without missing a beat I placed the dish and cup down then turn back to her expecting her to throw hands, but she instead stood straight and grunted before stomping off and out of the diner.
"Aren't you a fun puppy to have around." I snickered and slapped his shoulder playfully as i sat, but Justin's demeanor completely changed on the contact and I felt the pendant pulsing as he looked at me with his jaws clenched and his fusts balled on top of the table.
"Don't ever do that again." He growled, and I saw the brown of his eyes become lighter, almost Hazel as the pendant went crazy vibrating against my skin.
"Or what?" I asked back pushing my boundaries to see what would come of it. "You gonna kill me, here in front of all these people tough guy?" I poked his chest with a taunting chuckle, and he grabbed my hand, it was at this moment I felt the fear I'd felt before, because it hurt, it felt like my hand was between a door as his grip kept increasing until I let out a hiss and started trying to pull away from it.
"Do you think you're invincible?" He asked staring me dead in my eyes as his own eyes flickered between a dim gold and a tamed red. "Do you really think I don't have the urge to snap your little neck, I'm dreaming about it right now, it's only because of the respect of my brother than you're not dead, but keep pushing me Kay, keep poking and prodding me until i snap, I'm begging you little girl, keep messing around and give me a reason." He threatened me and I felt a shiver from the pain travel across my entire body, leaving goosebumps even on my face.
"Let go." I whispered, I didn't mean to, but my voice was suddenly so tamed and behaved that I couldn't even speak any louder than that whisper.
"What was that?" He asked squeezing my hand tighter and I closed my eyes trying to dismiss the pain as I tried pulling away from his grasp.
"I'm sorry, please let go." I grit my teeth as tears formed when it was becoming more unbearable.
"Is everything okay here miss?" A voice came right next to me and I looked around to see the waitress from before staring down at us, it was only then that he released my hand, and I was pretty sure it bruised beneath the sweater, because it was pulsing as if I'd been hit by a fallen branch. "You forgot to take a napkin with your order." She placed the napkin in my hand and folded my fingers around it.
I know what it looked like, I hadn't even realized how many people were staring at us until I looked around, I know she meant well but there was an unspoken rule about supernatural, we should never expose them to the public eye, if this happened and they were driven in a corner, they'd lash out, and it would be complete m******e, so even though I really wanted to not be there I had no choice but to endure and hope something happened to free me or help me get out.
"It's okay," I paused and looked at her name tag. "Diane, everything's fine." I replied back, even though my face was clearly that of someone who was in distress, and my eyes were on the verge of tears I sucked it up and remained silent. "Thanks for asking."
"Hm..." Diane, furrowed her brows and then forced a smile. "Okay then, call me if you need anything else." She spun on her heels and left to another table close by.
"You f*****g bastard you almost broke my arm." I turned to Justin, but found his gaze remained one of wrath and I sucked in a breath and calmed down. "...just, don't do that again." I turned to my cake and started eating it silently.
He didn't care how people saw him or what he did in public, and I couldn't get any normal person involved, that atop the fact that there was nobody aside from his brother strong enough to stand up to him in Hollow Valley meant I was really in a bad situation when it came to him, I had to be careful of what I did and said around this crazy son of a b***h.
