A Hand To Hold Onto! [Full House]

I was nervous. I was not sure why I was nervous. I had not saw everyone in such a long time. Would the girls still remember me? I felt bad. The last time I saw the girls was when Pamela had died in the car accident. Joey came to live with his best friend Danny Tanner. Joey Gladstone was my older brother. I had been living out in Michigan when I had a good job teaching. But there was a huge strike and now I was out of work. Joey and Danny convinced me to go move out here with the Tanners. Danny said he could use extra work here with the girls. Until I could find a teaching job somewhere here in the San Francisco, school systems. I enjoyed working at elementary schools. But if I had to work at a high school then I would have to work at one. Until something better came along. Danny needed help with the girls because Joey was now staring on a kid tv show here in town. It was called "Ranger Joe" and Jesse was also on it. Danny had a show he was busy on. It was a talk show called "Wake Up Sanfransico" So now here I was back home in California. Where I had once grown up. I ring the doorbell. Then wait. I hear voices behind the door. I wait then I ring the doorbell one more time. Joey did know today was the day I was coming right? I had called him the night before. I could hear someone was home. I wait awhile then ring it one more time. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • Finally, the door swings open. There stands Jesse. He had a towel wrapped around his head. He smirks. "You probably are wondering what I am doing" he chuckles as he lets me go on inside. I head inside as I carry my luggage. "Did you find a gray hair Jess?" I tease playfully. I knew how Jesse Katsopolis ran. He worried about his looks. His hair. Always the hair. "Kind of!" he mutters with a cute little grin. "Where is everyone?" I wonder as I set my luggage down on the floor. "Where are my girls?" I demand. "Aunt Clara!" I hear someone exclaim. "Aunt Clara is here!" I see DJ Tanner rushing down the stairs first. Then Stephanie and Michelle come running after her. They rush at me and greet me with a hug. Stephanie was looking more and more like her mother Pamela now that I got a good look at her. Besides the photos Danny had sent me. Stephanie looks up at me joyfully. I hug her back. I hug all the girls. They begin to all chat at once. I could not understand a word anyone was saying to me. I laugh feeling a warm welcome back home. I was glad to be here. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • "Danny is starting up a barbeque in the back yard. Joey is helping him. Hopefully they are not burning down the house" chuckles Jesse. "Jess what were you doing?" I ask him curiously. He looks slightly embarrassed. "I was dying my hair. I had a gray one. I am going to be on tv. I could not show up with a gray hair showing" he tells me. "They will sprout more if I do not get things under control" he tells me. I shake my head. "Somethings never change" I giggle. "Come to the back! Uncle Joey can't wait to see you!" DJ tells me. She takes me by the hand then leads me to the back yard where the guys were. There stood Joey my big brother hovering over a grill with Danny Tanner. Danny was still a super tall skinny string bean. Just as I remembered him to be. Somethings never did change. Danny was trying to get the grill going. Joey was getting the food all set up. And prepped. "So, I will watch over the hamburgers and hot dogs until Clara gets here. And you get to chopping those veggies for the burgers...." Danny was rambling on and on to Joey. "Hi guys" I speak up. "What can I do to help?" I wonder. "Oh, get the cheese, Clara for the burgers. In case anyone wants a cheeseburger. We better hurry Clara because Clara will be here soon!" warns Danny as he answers me without looking at me. I giggle. So do the girls. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • "CLARA!" exclaims Joey once he spots me. He rushes at me. We hug. He laughs and twirls me around like he used to when I was little. Then he sets me back down on the ground. "When did you get here? How long?" he asks me. I shake my head. "Jess let me in" I tell them. "Dippity do let you in?" jokes Danny. He hugs me. "Thanks for flying all this way. Welcome back home Clara" says Danny. I hug him back. "It is great to be back!" I say. "I brought the buns guys!" calls out someone else as they enter the back yard. I could not see who was hear past Danny as we hugged. Danny was too tall. Then I hear "CLARA!" squeals someone. Danny lets me go. Someone else is hugging me now. "Danica Jones!" I squeal. She was my childhood best friend. We had kept in touch over the years. Danica hugs me tightly. "I sure have missed you! I am so glad you are back! I tried to get here before you did but you beat me to it!" she laughs. "I had to go to the store for Danny and Joey!" she tells me. "I am so glad you are here" I tell her. "We have a lot of catching up to do" I say. Danica was going to be marrying Joey next year. They had been dating for a few years. Danny was now dating cohost Vicki Larson. She shows me her ring Joey gave her. "Wow my brother did swell" I tease as I wink over at him. "I can't believe I am marrying before you! I always thought you would be the one to be married and have kids by now" says Danica. "Me to" I say. I had dated back when I lived in Michigan. I had a boyfriend. We had talked about getting married. But he died. He had been a police officer in training. And he ended up getting shot one night on the job. After I lost my beloved Tristen, I had not dated anyone since then. It was hard losing someone you loved. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • "Have you saw Jesse? Since you got back?" she whispers where Joey and Danny were out of ear rang. I nod. "Yes, he was dying his hair" I giggle. "Are you going to go for it?" she asks me. "Go for what?" I wonder with a frown. "Jesse and Rebecca broke things off. They were going to get married. But they broke up. Jesse is a free man and so are you" teases Danica. My face turns a lovely shade of red. "No, I am not. Jesse is my brother's best friend" I remind her. "Yea that did not stop you from crushing on the man during high school" she teases. "I am here to help with the girls. Not help myself to Jesse" I whisper to her. "How are my best girls?" Joey asks as he joins us. He hands me a soda. And hands one to Danica. "Good big brother" I tell him. "Sorry, my hair is finished. How are you doing Clara? Welcome home" Jesse welcomes me properly as he joins us in the back yard. He comes over and hugs me. I felt warm and safe there in his arms. He always had the best hugs. My cheeks grow warm. I quickly pull back out of his embrace. "It is nice to be home" I tell Jesse. "Are you sure you can handle all this riff raff?" teases Jesse as he messes up little Michelle's hair. "Who you callin riff raff?" asks Michelle. We laugh. "First hot dog is done! Who wants it?" asks Danny. "Me!" Stephanie demands. "ME!" says DJ. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • The kids scramble over to Danny by the grill. Grabbing plates to place their food on. Jesse flashes a handsome smile my way. My heart skips a beat. He was as handsome as ever. If not more now that he was older. I could not allow my old feelings to resurface for Jesse. He never saw me as anything more than his friends kid sister. That was what I was always going to be to him. Nothing more. I had to focus on the girls. Getting a job around here. And then getting a place of my own. I could not live here with the Tanner's forever. I needed my own space. Everyone would get tired of me before long. That reminded me. Where was I going to be staying? In what room? Would I be sharing a room?? "I cleaned my room for you down in the basement sis. You can stay there. I will bunk with Jesse for a while" says Joey as though he read my mind. "Okay thanks big brother" I tell him. "Besides that, most nights he bunks with me" teases Danica as she hugs Joey. They kiss. "I am happy for you guys. You know all through school Danica had a big crush on Joey" I mention as I get my food on a plate. "Imagine that, a childhood crush working out?" she teases as she winks at me then glances over at Jesse. I give her a dirty look for that. It was good to be back home. Somethings did not change. And my heart still could not get over how good Jesse looked. My heart better finds a way to move on. Because I was not going on that path again. It hurt letting Jesse go once.
