The Runaway Princess

Being a royalty is not the way they think it is. It's not easy like how other think we are. They thought that having a crown and high position is easy but the truth is not. It's hard and difficult to have this kind of responsibility. Wearing a crown means holding the whole nation. Taking in a high position means sacrifice. While looking in the veranda, I saw how my life was different to just a simple Aerisian. I don't need to wear formal gowns, brilliant tiaras and big responsibility. I'm thinking how nice being a simple homers in this town. Without thinking about the Royal Rules and etcetera. "Princess Cassandra everyone is already in the Royal Dining Hall, your parents are looking for you" said the handmaiden. I smile and nod. I walk through the hallway of the palace to Dining Hall. They are all complete so I quickly sit in my seat. "Don't be late again, Cassandra" My Mom whisper. I just sigh. I'm used to it anyway. My eyes laid on my cousin, Callista. She was playing her hand that means she's nervous. King Grandpa talk first. "So, I'll make a big announcement. The Aeris Crown Princess Callista Zaneerah Limson, will finally enter Adastra Academy. And tomorrow is the anniversary of your Queen Grandma and me,and all Aerisian are invited. And later on, Cassandra Felistine Limson will be crown as the next Crown Princess." Now I know, Callista will end up in the jail, I mean in Academy where she trained to be a Queen. While, I will be crown as the next Crown Princess. That means huge responsibility, that means no freedom. That means following of million of Royal Rules. I already lost my appetite after hearing the announcement. Don't get me wrong, but having a crown in your head means taking your freedom away. Means holding the whole Kingdom of Aeris. Means living your life to follow the rules. And one of that is marrying someone that they chose for me. And I don't want that kind of life. ---- We're all her in our favorite room in the palace. It was our secret place. Calli was silent all the time. I know that she also doesn't want to take it but she has no choice. We have no choice. I sigh and got up and went to the huge fridge to get some canned beers. I want to refresh my mind. "Hey, that's prohibited. We may be seen and rebuked us." Zenny scolded. "It's fine. What's the purpose of this secret room. We all need to be freshen." I wink at her before I get two canned beers. I threw one can to Callista. Everyone was busy because of a special occasion tomorrow. It's an important occasion for Grandma and Grandpa. I know that we need to show and act up. Well,that's what a Prince and Princess should be. "Why you're so chill, Cassy?" Zaffy stated and sat beside me. He's also holding a can of beer. I scoffed. "You have no idea, Zaff... We already knew about it, anyway. Just accepting it.." After a slight rest we came back to our own rooms. I just lay in my bed and let my tought away. It's been a tough day to us. I open my veranda and feel the cool breeze fresh air. Tomorrow will be a double celebration, so it will be a big night. I decided to go back inside and get my guitar. I started to strum the guitar and humming a song. The double door suddenly open and it shows my little sister. We're not so close but deep in my heart I love her so much. We have an age difference,maybe that's why. Farrah sat beside me. "What song are you playing? Can I sing along with you?" I laugh and nod. I started to strum and she started singing. I must say that Farrah's voice was so angelic. She has more talent that me, though. And I think more beautiful. "You haven't changed, you still have a good voice, I envy you.." "You don't have to envied me, Cass. We're all the same. But whatever you are facing right now, I'm always be with you." I replied her a hug. Life maybe hard to me but atleast I still have my sister and cousins. Farrah stayed for awhile before her handmaiden escort her to her room. A little while my handmaiden enter my room to deliver my evening gown for tomorrow. It was a sparkling and glamorous royal blue gown. It was actually beautiful. I just sigh and lay in my bed. ---- Another morning came, even if it's early I feel the different ambiance of the palace. What I like about occasion is we can freely roam around the whole town. We are free to go outside and the commoners are free to enter the palace. It was fun and exciting. I got up and took a bath. I just wear my casual gown and comb my hair. I put a color blue glitters in the strips of my hair. I smile on my reflection to in the mirror. I smile widely when I got out of my room. All the chamber maids was busy arranging all the curtains, lamps, carpets and design on the walls. I happily greeted all the chambermaids I pass by. "Good morning" "Good morning, Your Highness" They greeted and bow their head. While walking down the hallway I met my cousins. Kaliya and Zammy was pretty in their simple gowns. They also look simple. While Dale and Vince are teasing each other. "So, where are we going now? Uh, by the way, the others will just follow." Kaliya said. They immediately fell silent and bow. I looked behind me and immediately bowed when I saw my Mother. She was cold and feirce while walking towards us. We all greeted her. Beside her was my sister,Farrah. "Where are you all going?" She strictly said. They even looked at who would answer. "Ah, we're just going in the town center, Lady Cristine" Zammy utterly answer. "Okay you may go but you will be left, Cassandra. You still have assignment to do" No one can go against the decision of my Mom. I just stare at them and nod. Mom turned around so I just followed. Me and Farrah enter in the Main Library of the palace. This is where we spend our time to study about the Kingdom and the whole Country of Adastra. This where all the history, myths and book of rules placed. My sister was silent all the time as she's reading the thick book about management and proper etiquette. I was so board while reading the history books of Kingdom of Aeris and and the family line of Limson. Maybe in some of my time here I still don't understand what I read. There's no interesting here in this room. "I think they are all having fun" Farrah said in a bored tone. Yeah, they are enjoying while we are stuck in this not four corner room with plenty of books. I want to taste the Aerisian street food, I want to see the lanterns, crafts, design and anything. I want to feel the simplicity of the place, far from this books and any royalties. I smirk with the playful thoughts in my mind. I approached my sister and whisper. She smiles widely and agree to my plan. We plan to sneak out and enjoy ourselves also. We quietly opened the door and peeked side or side. The Main Library is located in the West Wing so there aren't many chambermaids here. We got out easily but it was difficult for us to get out of the gate because there were many guards and maids. Good thing they're all busy so somehow we finally got out. Farrah and I laugh as we pass all the guards and maids. We give a high five to the successful escape. I smile widely when I walk in the town center. There are many vendors in the sidewalk. "Cassandra, let's meet in the Selia Garden. I'll be back" Farrah said. I nod and remind her to be careful. I want Farrah to enjoy the freedom like this. I roam around the place and taste different kinds of foods. I barely eat delicious foods like this coz in the palace we follow the Royal Menu. They also sell hand maid bracelets, necklace out of shells and rocks. It was so beautiful. "Hi, Miss do you want to try our new chocolate slurpee? We have a promo. If you get one chocolate slurpee you can get our gift. A hand maid bracelet and personalized keychains" A young seller said. I happily nod and bought one of their chocolate slurpee. I actually not a fan of chocolate but I want to try it and I want to get their special gift. It's not bad anyway. "Ahm, Miss what is your name so we can personalized your keychain" the young lady asked. "Ah, just put... Ahm, Cassy, yeah, just write Cassy" I answered. I thank them when they finally done with the personalized and gave the gifts. It was so cute. I love the keychain. It's a blue cloud with my name inside it. I surely keep this thing. After I roam around I stop in the near lake of Aeris. It's called Lake of Mirela, that means peace. This lake gives peace to this Kingdom. Even I hated to be a royalty I can't change the fact that Aeris did a great job to run the whole Kingdom. I was startled when suddenly someone run towards me and I collided. I just closed my eyes and waited to fall in the lake. But I suddenly felt a hand grip my waist. I open my eyes and a pair of brown eyes met mine. That time, I froze and I just stare at his eyes. I came back to my mind and instantly stood up but I lost my balance but he caught me immediately. He supports me upright before he loosen his hold to my waist. "Thank you.." I left quickly. I touch my heart and I felt it beating so fast. I shook my head and erase the thoughts that lingering in my mind. It's just a mere accident. It's not rude if I immediately walk away right? I'm not used to say sorry to someone especially strangers. After I enjoyed myself in town center I came back to Selia Garden. I instantly saw Farrah waiting for me there. We still sneak inside and came back to Library as if nothing happens. I get a sketchbook and draw someone, they guy with brown eyes, particularly. I don't understand why he's keeping lingering in my mind. Maybe because I didn't gave him my gratitude. It's been an attitude to us to show gratitude to someone you owe. "Who's that guy?" Farrah get my sketchbook and put a fishy smile in his lips. "Farrah give it back. It's nothing. Give it back" i tried to snatch my sketchbook back. Good thing she gave it back to me but the smile in her face doesn't vanish. I just rolled my eyes on her. Aish! Why that guy keeps bugging me? I must be crazy. I just put away my sketchbook and continue reading even though I'm already bored. ---- I'm now in my room facing the hug mirror showing my whole reflection. My handmaidens help me to wear my gown, fix my hair and face. After a long boring hour in that place they finally get us out. The last thing they put in me is my emerald tiara. I was all prepared for this night's occasion. I'm sure my other cousins are all ready too. Any moment soon the grand night cdle will start. Handmaiden guided me to the Grand Hall where occasion and special events will be held. Even I'm still far I already hear the noise of glass of champagne and the solemn music around the place. I finally enter and seat beside my sister whose wearing a red gown. We are all complete. "Excuse us, ladies and gentlemen. I would like to raise a toast as thanks giving for coming here and celebrate our anniversary. Let's first enjoy the night" King Grandpa states. Some couple guest come in front to have a dance. All I did was to eat and drink a glass of champagne. Good thing they serve my favorite strawberry cheesecake. I love strawberries. "Don't eat too much sweets, Cassandra. Be formal and elegant" My Mom said. I just answer her a nod. They all seems enjoying but why can't I? Even though I want to do whatever I want to do,I just can't. I don't want to disappoint my parents and my grandparents. My other cousins stand and join in a dance. My eyes laid in front of the seat beside Queen Grandma, the beloved Crown Princess. She put a fake smile in her face. It's obvious that she's just acting up. Our eyes met and I just give her a genuine smile. King Grandpa stand again. "Can I have all your attention. Now I will announce the important event. The Crown Princess, our soon to be Queen, Callista Zaneerah Limson will finally enter Adastra Academia. And after her study she's ready to rule the Kingdom of Aeris." They all giving a round of applause. Mostly are happy but me and my cousins aren't for we know that Calli's doesn't want this. We are tied up by our so called calling for the whole Kingdom. But I know Calli was strong, she can overcome it all. The night continued. I decided to go to veranda to feel some fresh air. The whole city was so bright. Under me was a commoners enjoying the food, music and ambiance. Maybe if I'm also a commoners I will feel the same way. I remove my tiara and slightly stare at it. It's dazzling, sparkling emerald tiara. It's beautiful but hard to carry. I won't be chained by the rules. I won't be locked up with my responsibility. All I want is a true freedom. All I want is to decide on my own without thinking the Royal Law, without thinking of myself being a Princess.
