Chapter 10

672 Words
I had been walking north through the forest expecting an ambush to strike at any moment. My eyes dotted from tree to tree and every sound. I had cast a few spells that would last me a while as I had regained my magic. See Invisibility. Protection from Arrow. Brave. “So you were bold enough to come alone,” I heard a voice replied from above. Posted on the tree looking down at me was the Whistling Wolf, others came out the forest, some ones I saw I had met before. “I believed you wanted to talk to me.” Reno, the bandits said as they whispered to themselves. The man I had met on the road earlier baring the dagger stepped forward towards me. “So we meet again.” “What did you want to meet me for and who are you?” I asked.  “My name is Luna, and it was not me but Oliver that wanted to.” She pointed to the man with the dagger. “To inform you that the town is corrupt and bleeding the villagers around it dry. They probably intend to kill you right after us fighting. If you join with us, that won’t be the case.” “To be a bandit?” I looked around at all the people around as a smile came to my face. “I actually have a far better idea.”                                                                            * “Fire ball,” I watched the forest burned as I made my way back to the town. My robes were almost in tatters as I walked slowly. From my skill, I heard the approaching steps of Maracar and the other adventures coming. I took deep breaths, holding a tree as the horses came neighing to a halt. Maracar got off his horse as the others came closer to me. I leaned my head down as he watched the forest. “Is it done?” Maracar asked. “Yes, the Whistling Wolf is no more.” “Good,” he replied, “Then there will be no need for you and your name as a Troll Slayer and Whistling Wolf vanquisher. Those titles will gladly go to us. How tragic it was for us to see poor Reno caught in the middle as we saved his life  unfortunately succumbing to his wounds. The sound of a sword being drawn bellowed behind them as Seth and Carmelia appeared. “So you got the entire g**g here, No matter you’re the only threat here, and you die.” An arrow whistled through the forest as it connected to Maracar’s hand, it was followed by a howl. I smiled as Seth and Carmelia engaged in their own battles. The bandits stormed out to engage the few adventurers charging me as Maracar used the chaos to get away. I looked back at the tree. “He is mine.” A howl was the response. I followed quickly behind Maracar. “Summon I.” The dog ran forth and bit him on his leg causing him to fall over a stump landing on his back. Dark Arrow. I held the spell with three of them behind me. “Wait get back, I didn’t mean it I was just joking it was a joke. You understand right Reno, I wouldn’t harm a kid.” I drew near to him and looked down. “You know Maracar, I knew what sort of man you were from the moment I met you.” “Please.”  “You and I have something deep down in common.” “You don’t have to do this.”  “Both our hearts are dark. I knew you were there by that fireside and now I have one final task for you and after this the town will follow.” “Anything you want, I will do.” A grin took my face. “Die for me.”
