Chapter 29

The dwarf had led us inside the town as we were flanked on both sides by miners. The town compared to Pieranto was small but the architecture from the walls and the road was in a league to itself. It was adorned with same hammer that was on the dwarf’s shield. Was he someone of importance or was it a faction that he belonged too. I wondered as we came to a stop by the reception of a small building that resembled an interrogation room as the door was opened. “Have a seat, the two of you,” the dwarf said removing his helm. “The rest of you wait outside. We took our seat beside each other before we had entered I had managed to cut the rope of the guild master’s hand. It wouldn’t be wise if things were escalated further than they would need to be. It wouldn’t make difference now to have it could only serve to bring further distrust.  The dwarf sat on the opposite side of us. “How many goblins are with you?” “Fifty Five goblins in total beside us but there are far more of them than that.” “Hmmmm and what did you do for them to allow them to be so friendly with them like that. I never know goblins to ever be so friendly to humans or any other kind.” His gaze fell on the guild master. “We didn’t have---.” “We killed goblins for the goblins and indirectly reunited the clan. I killed the last goblin the agreement was for them to tell us the location of this place after.” “And so they have.” “I was surprised that they did. I thought they were going to betray us at some part away from everyone else.” “Such is the way with their kind and the girl? I smell the whiff of tainted magic upon her.” “She is a diplomat from our country; she is well verse with magic.” “Is that so? Then why did she have the guild master tied and you think I haven’t noticed that you barely allowed him to talk. When he first came here none of the others talk before him due to his rank. Usually the high one talks and the others listen so care to explain yourself Seth or should I put you down with my axe?” I took a deep breath as I explained to the dwarf everything that had happened so far. He looked at me as I told him the story from my village to now and the affairs of the town. He didn’t reveal anything to me that would hint his mood it remained neutral even at the thought of what had happened. When I was done he stood quiet for a while the only thing I had not revealed to him was my sister. He scratched his beard. “Human politics aren’t a concern of ours. A dwarf respects honesty and from the guild master actions the last time he was here he didn’t strike me as the type. If he was he would have told you that he wasn’t the one to find here it was a man named Maracar.” My eyes and the guild master met as the dwarf continued. “However the Stupor that you talk about is here in this holding but I don’t know if we have a direct cure for it for a human. It’s more of a drink but it might be because of our innate nature to not be affected by magic. I can tell you where we got it from maybe there it might help you.” “Thank ---.” “However for this information I want something in return.” “What do you need?” “For you to slay all the goblins.”
