Rafe POV The fire crackled, but it didn’t warm me. I was somewhere else, lost in her. No matter how hard I tried to push her from my head, I remembered things like the way her hair glistens as it catches the sun, the way she smells so divine—I’m sure she has been baked in Hell’s Kitchen just to tempt me—and how her eyes sparkle when she smiles. Bright glowing embers drifted up on the cool breeze, disappearing into the indigo sky. I can hear laughter behind me, but it sounds distant. I can’t focus. I’m distracted.
