The sound of the door being knocked startled Danielle in her prayers and her heart instantly started racing at the thought of whomever was behind those doors and what message they bore. "W-who is t-there?" She asked in a scared little voice then cleared her throat knowing the person didn't hear her. "Who is there?" "Princess, we are your maids." A voice replied her. Danielle didn't bother changing her position before allowing them in. "Do come in." The door opened and in came three servants. An older woman, who she recognized as the head of maids, and two girls who looked about her age or younger. They came in and bowed in respect which she acknowledged with a nod. "Princess Danielle. Your father has requested that you get ready for the dinner tonight where he shall announce something important. Would you require our help in getting ready?" The older maid asked her. Danielle wondered what could be so important that her father had to send the head of servants to inform her to get ready for dinner. Were the barbarians still in the village? Did they come to an agreement? Inviting someone to dinner meant that you were at peace with them, right? "Ha... How important is this dinner? Are we having guests over? Is my father unharmed?" Danielle asked the maid hoping the lady had at least some bit of information to share with her. The older woman nodded her head solemnly. "The chief is fine and is now having some drinks with the guests from earlier." Danielle sent a little thanks skywards before getting up from her knees. "I'm happy to hear that, and yes please, you may help me get ready for tonight." She replied the maid's question from earlier. **** Feeling thoroughly refreshed from her scented bath and feeling confident in her choice of clothing, a long white full cotton gown trimmed with gold that her father had given her for her last birthday, with a royal blue sleeveless tunic that could be laced in crisscross patterns was worn over it. The sleeves of her dress were full and free just the way she liked it and her face had been lightly powdered and coloured. Her blonde hair was the cherry on top. It was a pile of curls and twists underneath a large loose braid that ran from one edge of her hair to the other. The head of maid had spent a great deal of time on it to get it just right using blue, white and silver pins to hold it in place. Danielle could sincerely say that she had never looked more like a princess than she did now. Accompanied by the three maids, Danielle walked into the room that functioned as the royal dining room. The room was set in a way that Danielle had not seen it set in a while. Multiple tables were in place and the place was crowded with not only guests but servants alike.. There were maids everywhere dishing out food and drinks to the people sitted. With the atmosphere, Danielle could only say that the deal with the barbarians must have gone better than expected. 'The Lord be praised!' Danielle thought even as her eyes scanned the room subconsciously to find the guests of honour. It was not that hard to find the two men that she had seen earlier. This time there were three other Vikings in the room but amongst everyone, those two stood out in looks, stature and their mere presence. Just then, the man she had assumed was the king of the Vikings, the one with the long hair took a sip of his wine and looked up away from her father who was being a loud, bashful drunk and stared straight at her. Danielle's breath caught in her throat. (Who can blame her, Cahir had that effect on most warm blooded women) "He really is handsome " Danielle thought again, but before she could fully admire his good looks, his eyes hardened and seemed to flash a deadly red before going back to it's original black as coal colour. Danielle's head quickly bent downwards, shivers caused from fear running down her spine as the maids ushered her to her seat by her father. In his side, Cahir watched with a bored look as the princess was led to her seat. Fear was an expression that he was used to seeing on other people faces and it unfazed ....more like bored him to see it on the face of his future wife to be. Sure, the girl looked pretty but other than that, he had no interest there, and neither did his wolf. Not like he was surprised. What could interest his wolf in an ordinary human? ***** "I would like to make an *hic* annou—announcement." The already drunk chief said staggering to his feet. He grinned widely before turning to look at his audience. "Today, ...marks a new kind of ...of Uh, friendship *hic* for the ...for West Creek and between the barbarians..." The old man said mistakenly mixing up his words and using an offensive word right to the face of his guests under the influence of the alcohol. The citizens of West Creek began to laugh nervously and stare at the said guests but immediately shut their mouth when three of the men bared savage teeth at them. They gulped in fear. Cahir exchanged glances with Vlod wanting to be done with what the chief had called a party of utmost importance, an engagement party. Non-Viking and their bloody traditions. Why hold an engagement and then a church wedding separately? Of course, a Scandinavian wedding was much, much more extravagant but considering that the maiden was being forced on him, Cahir had no interest in having a traditional wedding with the chief's daughter. That was too intimate for him! He looked at the drunk who now had a sheepish look on his red face. He would so love to snap the man's head off his neck and was almost sure he would do it before the night runs out if the old man did not watch his drunken charades. "We are here today to the engagement of, oh... where are you? ...there you are!" The chief grinned broadly, pulling his daughter up from her seat and making her stand beside him. "Of my daughter, Danielle to this my new friend over here..." Danielle's heart raced and pounded out in fear "Oh no." As her father raised his pointing finger and turned, as though in slow motion, towards the Barbarians. "Please God, no, no, no, no. I'll do anything... I'll spend all my days in the chapel. I'll give a bigger offering next service... For the whole month, no, three months. I'd rather die, just not that scary looking barbarian." "...King Cahir, the king of..." Danielle's whole world came tumbling to the ground at those words... ...and so did she. "Well, that was a first." Vlod said with an amused expression to his best friend amidst the awe of the other guests as princess Danielle collapsed to the floor. Cahir narrowed his eyes at the princess pale and still form, not in the least bit amused. ***** Blair opened up her eyes, after what seemed like an eternity and blinked severally trying to regain focus. She tried to remember where she was last and had a flashing memory of going to work at night, ...the dark alley, and being attacked by three men. They had tried to steal her purse but she didn't let them. And she had been brutally murdered. Actually, she had been punched ...twice. But that hit had hurt like a fvcker. So it felt like she was being slaughtered and gutted. She noticed that she was in an unfamiliar room and seemingly laying on a silk bed. It was by far the most comfortable bed that she had ever been on. It felt like clouds. Do hospital beds feel like this? Why don't I hurt anywhere? Don't tell me that I was in a coma for years. She checked her hand and realized to she had no needles sticking into them. So where the heck was she? And oh my God! Where was Violet? Blair sat up and really looked around her. The room she was in was the strangest she had ever seen, ever. It was like a princess room, but like from the set of Game of thrones or something similar. It was filled with dresses, frills, more dresses, a vanity, an heavenly bed and... Christ! What was she putting on? Blair got straight off the bed and stood on bare feet. She crossed over to the vanity and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked normal, she had no special glow that told her that she was now an angel in heaven. The contents of the vanity caught her attention instead. Several bottles and bottles containing different contents from powder to paste to liquid, all of various colours. If she was somehow in the scene of some medieval movie, this seemed so legit. "O. M. G. Don't tell me I'm Sleeping Beauty and I'm supposed to be waiting for True Love's kiss? Is this a prank?" Blair mumbled to herself. She immediately began to look around the room for hidden cameras. It was most likely that she had been kidnapped by a group of psychos who had a medieval wedding fetish. So was she now a married woman? The door creaked open making Blair jump and let out a panicked yelp. To her surprise and obvious relief, Violet came in through the doors and gave her a smile of relief. "Oh thank goodness that you are awake Blair." "Violet, I'm so happy that you are safe. Now can you tell me what in the world is going on here. Why are we both in this weird place and dressed like we are in the cast for Snow White and the Huntsman?" "Do you remember what happened last night Blair... or should I say, Princess Anne?" Violet said in a low voice that put Blair on the edge. "Why are we whis..." Blair started whispering back but then Violet's question registered in her fogged mind. "What the hell did you just call me?"
