It was the first time in his life that Jason had cut off his own arm. He felt slightly sick when he saw it fall to the ground.
But he had no other option. His life was more important than his arm, wasn’t it?
He didn't know whether it was because of the buff that the toolbox had given him, or his strange illness, but Jason felt emboldened by his sensitivity to pain being completely numbed.
In his mind, the extreme fear in others’ eyes was just slightly awkward.
To anyone else who was unaware of his hidden disease, it was simply mad for Jason to hurt himself in the way he did.
It was one thing to know that a virus could turn you into a zombie, but it was another to cut your arm off without hesitation.
After pausing for a few seconds, the bullet comments frantically flooded across Jason’s livestream.
[OMG... what did I just watch?!]
[Was that real?]
[He cut off his arm with a knife?! Can that be f*****g true?]
As the bullet comments poured in, Jason noticed the numbers leaping around below his field of vision.
The number of spectators in his livestream rose from 48 to 87.
99... 121... 189...
Jason was a little surprised, “Huh?”
Why did so many people suddenly pour into his livestream?
Then, some strange gifts started to appear.
[Lollipop x1]
[Hamburger x5]
[Deluxe Steak Dinner x10]
......
What were these things? The signs kept floating below his field of vision. Moments later, his number of changed from 0 to 850, and kept rising.
Jason: “…”
This...
“You need to stop your arm from bleeding right now,” Zoe reminded him.
“Thanks,” Jason began.
Although Jason didn’t feel any pain, Zoe was right. He was still alive and not a zombie. Even though he'd lost his sense of pain due to his strange disease, excessive blood loss could still kill him.
Zoe was confused, but she still helped Jason get a piece of clean cloth, and asked him to come over so she could bandage up his wound. She knew that he was injured because he'd sacrificed himself to save Lily. After all, it would be quite difficult for him to apply bandages to himself when he only had one arm.
“I learned a little bit of first aid,” Zoe said, “but that was a long time ago. I’m not sure if my bandaging will stop the bleeding.”
“Thank you,” Jason said. He couldn’t help but laugh as he watched Zoe awkwardly tie a very crude bow around his arm.
Hearing him laugh, Zoe glared at him with embarrassment and anger, “If you don’t think it looks good, then you can do it yourself.”
“No, no, you misunderstood,” Jason explained hurriedly, “I was just thinking about my doctor. The man was so busy doing his own thing that he didn’t even take my life seriously. I’d rather have a hundred bows tied to my arm than hear his cold words again.”
Zoe frowned with resignation. Although she didn't quite understand what kind of illness Jason suffered from, his words stirred some sympathy in her, as she was also unlucky in this regard.
After dressing Jason’s wounds, Zoe looked at them and spoke out her concerns, “How did you do that?”
Jason knew exactly what Zoe was talking about.
“I have a strange disease, which is incurable...”
Before Jason could finish the sentence, there was a sudden loud noise as something almost knocked the glass door open.
Lily shrieked and threw herself into Zoe’s arms.
They saw the zombies that had just left. They'd probably heard the movement inside the building, and were attracted by the sound, causing them to gather outside the door again, banging at it frantically and trying to break in.
One of the zombies even put its hand between the broken glass and tried to open the door which was locked from inside.
Jason was shocked and shouted, “f**k! We can’t let them unlock the door!”
“It seems that even after becoming like this, they still have some intelligence. They won't be that easy to deal with after all,” Zoe said while pulling out a dagger from her leg bag and quickly walking towards the door.
Perhaps because Jason had just courageously saved Lily and put himself in harm's way without hesitation, Zoe, who'd been a bit afraid when she first entered this strange world, pulled herself together.
She walked towards the window with a dagger in her hand. Standing in front of the group of zombies who were making threatening gestures, she raised the dagger with some slight hesitation.
No matter how close she was to these decayed faces, she simply couldn’t find any signs of mischief on them, or any shred of humanity left inside them.
They really were zombies…
Recalling the zombie’s head which had just blown up right in front of her, spraying blood all over her face, she still felt quite nauseous.
However, the death of Michael and Steve was more vividly ingrained in her memory.
This was a real world where people could get killed.
Zoe closed her eyes, and after one second, she opened them again. With a strong intent to kill, she forcefully stabbed the nearest zombie between its eyebrows.
Even though it had just been stabbed, the zombie didn’t seem to feel any pain. It still let out horrifying howls and stretched out its hands in an attempt to reach Zoe.
Putrid blood stimulated Zoe’s sense of smell. She withdrew her upper body so that its dirty hands couldn't reach her. She gritted her teeth and twisted the dagger hard before she heard the sound of bones breaking.
Gradually, the zombie’s strength failed and it slid down the door.
Jason and Lily watched as Zoe subsequently killed all the zombies surrounding the door as she had just done.
“I guess this might be a virtual world, but it’s not entirely unreal. Michael and Steve are probably really dead. People must get killed here at any time,” Zoe muttered.
She panted and turned her head around. Her face and chest were covered in blood, but she wasn’t scared. She seemed to be muttering to herself while scrutinizing her dagger.
She had just used the dagger to make the group of dirty zombies immobile again.
“But this place is so much more exciting. It’s much more appealing than the unlucky world we’ve lived in for over twenty years. Hey, do you remember how you got here? We got here because of an app called Monopoly,” Zoe whispered.
At that moment, a hint of greed appeared in her charming eyes.
“I can earn points by completing tasks, and exchange them for money, power, and anything else that I can imagine. I think it might be true after all.”
Jason read the dangerous thoughts in her eyes, his heart pounding in his chest .
The moment he'd seen the Monopoly app mysteriously appear on his phone, Jason had assumed it was a scam app.
If he hadn't logged into the app on the spur of the moment in his desperate situation, it was unlikely that he would ever have been brought to this crazy world.
Jason recalled the rules of the game he had read when he first logged into the app.
In the app, one could earn points by completing tasks. Each point could be exchanged for one dollar.
That meant that…
Jason immediately turned his attention to his own points.
It was clear that he hadn’t completed the “Do Me A Favor” task, but his points were nearing 1,000.
This was all thanks to the reward spree he'd earned by cutting off his own arm.
So...
He'd actually made about $1,000 in such a short period of time?
Good heavens.
Jason recalled his work experience when he was a kid. If he'd earned $300 back then, it would've blown his mind. Worse still, he was often cold-shouldered and picked on from time to time.
He had never earned $1,000 in the blink of an eye like he had today.
Jason’s heart thumped.
He could earn such a large sum of money just from the tips in the livestream. How many points would he get if he completed the task?
He regretted not having read the rules carefully when he logged into the app.
Jason was overjoyed, but he reminded himself that this might not be true. Only when he'd exchanged the points into cold hard cash would he be convinced.
Jason suppressed his pounding heart for the time being. After all, he was still in danger and it wasn’t beneficial to be distracted.
Jason had no idea that his livestream had rocketed among the “List of New Live Streamers” and was now ranked within the top ten due to its popularity at the same time.
Plus, he was the only pure novice among the top ten livestreamers, and was the newest after only logging into the app for the first time.
