The bell rang, signaling the end of the day and the start of the pep rally for the game tonight. I closed my math book and opened my backpack to shove it in.
As I was zipping up my bag, a shadow fell over my desk. I looked up to see Billy.
“Hey,” I said.
“Hey, I’m assuming you and Nina are going to the pep rally, right?” he asked.
I stood up from my desk and replied, “Yeah, as far as I know. Why do you ask?”
“Is Nina okay with going? I’m just concerned because I was with her at lunch. She didn’t even want to sit by David, and now she’s going to cheer him on?” Billy said.
