After everything that happened in school, Brenda decided she was going to tell her mother about what Desmond told her In order to hear what she had to say

" mummy there's something I want to tell you "

" Go ahead Brenda am all ears".

" There's this new boy in my class, his name is Desmond and he was a member of my group. He's intelligent,calm and well behaved. So today he asked if I could be his partner for tomorrow which happens to be valentine's day but I told I did not want anything that will distract me from my studies""

" You did well Brenda.You are at a very crucial stage of your life and anything you do now will either mare or make your future. Stay focused and make your family proud cause that's the goal. If you know accepting to be a partner of your classmate will get you distracted then don't bother. You might think that it's just a one day stuff but don't forget that emotions are built with time ""

" mum I promise to make you and everyone proud. I will study very hard hard to come out in flying colors "

" I trust you Brenda and I know you will never disappoint me ".Both mother and daughter hugged before they carried on with their activities for the day.

The next day, Brenda woke up very early in the morning and wished everyone happy valentine's day.She looked very happy.

" Morning my princess.How was your night?. you look extremely happy this morning. Is there anything I need to know?".

" nothing really.i just feel happy today maybe because today is valentine's day "

" I have heard you Brenda,no problem. Am very sure if there's anything you are hiding you will tell me later "

"c'mon mum am not hiding anything from you. I just feel lucky to have a mother like you". She said as she went ahead to prepare for school. When she got to school that day, the first person that wished her a happy valentine's day was Desmond.

" Happy valentine's day to you miss Brenda "

" Happy valentine's day to you Desmond". She replied but her heart was skipping cause she knew that Desmond was going to ask her for his reply.

" Yesterday you asked me to come back today for my reply so now am here "

" Ok Desmond I haven't forgotten about that. My reply is............"

" Is what Brenda? you are keeping me on suspense". At this point Brenda didn't know what to say. She liked Desmond as a friend and didn't want to hurt him. Also, she was scared cause she didn't want anything that will distract her from her studies.

" Go on Brenda am listening to you "

" ok Desmond. I will be your partner ". Desmond was so happy and didn't even know the time he hugged her.

" But ......"

" But what.go on say what is on your mind "

" It is only going to be for today and nothing more. And I don't want this to get to the ears of my mum". She said

" I promise you Brenda. you are making the right decision and your mum will not hear of it ". He then quickly went to the class to get a gift he had specifically bought for her.

" Please wait for me I will be back ". Brenda was curious. She wondered where he was going to.Was he going to tell his friends that she had accepted to be his partner? or was he going to brag to Tasha that they were now partners??.

Though she was curious but she didn't allow her curiosity to get the better part of her. After some minutes, Desmond came back with a little box in his hand and handed it over to Brenda.

" Brenda this is the gift I bought for you. I know it might be small but please accept it "

" Well Desmond you didn't have to. but thank you so much for the gift. and am sorry I did not get you a gift "

" You don't have to be sorry Brenda. The best gift you gave me was by accepting to be my partner ". He said looking straight into her eyes. It was not long after when they heard the footsteps of one of their teachers which later turned out to be Mr Brian and they hurried to the classroom to avoid being scolded. Mr Brian was a no- nonsense man. He didn't tolerate any form of disrespect from any student.

" Good morning class ". he greeted

" Good morning Mr Brian" they replied. You all know that today is valentine's day so the proprietor has asked me to tell all of you to prepare for the valentine's day and assemble yourselves in the school's hall "

" ok Mr Brian" they replied as he left the class almost immediately.The whole class became noisy as everyone was trying to prepare for the party. Brenda decided to go and meet her friend so that they could prepare together.

" Hey Tracy, can we find somewhere to quickly change??

" sure we can. I think we should go to the restroom."

" That's a great idea. let's hurry !!!" Brenda replied as they hurried out of the classroom to go and prepare.Within a short time,they were done changing from uniforms to the clothes they had brought from home.

" wow Brenda you look gorgeous!.Am sure Desmond will be super duper excited when he sees you in this dress "

" Thanks Tracy for the compliment and you look beautiful too "

" Thanks for Flattering me Brenda but I know I am not as beautiful as you are *

" c'mon Tracy! am not flattering you. It is a fact that you are very beautiful and besides no one on the surface of the earth is ugly talk more of an angel like you ".

" Enough of all this Brenda. I've heard enough. Thanks by the way. but we need to go now ". Tracy said as they both hurried out of the restroom. On their way to the school hall, They bumped into Desmond. When Desmond sighted Brenda, he starred at her for some

minutes. She looked gorgeous and he couldn't help but stare at her.

" Brenda you look so beautiful. This dress fits you well. I almost didn't recognize you.once again thanks for accepting to be my partner. I feel opportuned right now "

" Thanks Desmond.You look good too. And thanks for choosing me to be your partner ". She said and they exchanged glances and made their way to the hall for the party had begun.
