Naira POV
I rolled my shoulders slightly after sitting for so long, then looked out the window, observing the surroundings as the aircraft descended.
I had expected a large residence belonging to the leader of a powerful Pack, but what I saw exceeded every expectation. The structure stood imposingly, with its vast grounds and luxurious design making it look more like a royal palace than an ordinary home.
Apparently, the influence Draven Nightshadow possessed wasn't just a rumor.
I sighed quietly as I stepped off the aircraft.
While I was observing the place, two people approached me.
The first was a young woman with long chestnut hair falling over her shoulders and warm hazel eyes. A gentle smile rested on her face, making her appear approachable and kind.
The man standing beside her was slightly taller, with calm features and a neat appearance that reflected a great deal of discipline.
The young woman smiled and said, “Hello, I'm Evelyn.” Then she gestured toward the man beside her. “And this is Mr. Sebastian.”
I returned her greeting with a small smile and introduced myself. Sebastian nodded respectfully before greeting me in a calm voice.
Evelyn continued, “I'll be responsible for assisting you and making sure you have everything you need during your stay here.”
Sebastian effortlessly picked up the large suitcase and the medium-sized travel bag, while Evelyn carried the smaller one. I kept my personal bag in my hands.
I tried offering my help, but they immediately refused as though the matter wasn't open for discussion.
Perhaps there were unspoken rules here.
Or maybe they considered the Alpha's guest someone who shouldn't carry her own luggage.
I followed them silently, observing everything around me with curious eyes.
Honestly, I had nothing else to do.
Every step inside this place revealed something new.
The stone pathway leading to the main building stretched for quite a distance, surrounded by carefully maintained greenery and towering trees that looked decades old.
I even noticed several guards stationed at different points, quietly monitoring the area without interfering.
It was obvious that security was taken very seriously here.
Tall iron fences surrounded the property, while surveillance cameras had been positioned in places that were difficult to notice at first glance.
For a moment, I felt as though I were entering a military compound rather than a home.
But perhaps that was normal.
People with power attracted enemies just as much as they attracted allies.
And no matter how powerful you were, caution was always better than regret.
I continued studying the massive building before me.
Everything about it reflected wealth and influence.
The marble columns.
The towering windows.
And the intricate architectural details that made the place seem as though it had stepped out of a historical novel.
Compared to this, my father's home suddenly seemed modest, even though it had been considered one of the finest houses in our Pack.
But this place belonged to an entirely different level.
I sighed quietly.
The last thing I wanted to think about right now was the owner of this palace.
Draven Nightshadow.
Even hearing his name was enough to make tension rise inside me.
So I decided not to ask about him.
I didn't want to see him.
And I didn't want to talk to him.
At least not today.
Some people might call that cowardice, but I preferred postponing the confrontation for as long as possible.
Every minute I wasn't standing in front of that man felt like a precious gift.
As soon as we crossed the entrance, the heavy doors closed quietly behind us while Sebastian and Evelyn continued leading the way through the wide hallways.
I followed them while trying to memorize the route, though I doubted I'd remember it later.
The place was far too large to understand after a single visit.
We climbed a marble staircase to the upper floor, then stopped in front of a door near the end of the corridor.
Evelyn smiled as she opened it. “This will be your room.”
For the first time, genuine curiosity stirred inside me.
I thanked her quietly before stepping past them and entering.
A large bed occupied the center of the room, covered with luxurious cream-colored bedding. A soft carpet stretched beneath my feet.
One wall held an elegant bookshelf filled with books, while a comfortable sitting area stood near the large window, containing a small sofa and a round table.
There was also a private balcony overlooking the vast gardens surrounding the mansion.
I stepped onto the balcony for a few brief moments.
Then I went back inside and entered another room, which turned out to be a walk-in closet.
I noticed that Sebastian had already left, while Evelyn was busy arranging my belongings inside the wardrobes.
I approached her and said kindly, “You don't have to do that. I can organize my things myself.”
But she refused and continued unpacking the suitcases.
I kept staring at the room and every detail inside it, trying to process everything.
The last thing I had expected from a man like him was for him to prepare a fully furnished room equipped with everything for someone he had never even met and had acquired through a contract.
I couldn't shake off the unsettling feeling that had followed me since my arrival.
There was something strange about this place.
Something I couldn't understand or even describe.
Every time I tried to ignore it, it returned stronger than before.
Ever since I stepped off the aircraft, that sensation had been steadily growing.
I tried convincing myself it was simply nervousness.
Any girl who was ripped away from her entire life and thrown into an unfamiliar place wouldn't feel calm or comfortable.
But that wasn't all.
There was something else.
Something that was making my wolf behave strangely.
Then suddenly...
I heard Ignis's voice inside my head.
She sounded nervous.
Excited.
And perhaps shocked as well.
“He's close,” she said in a trembling voice.
I immediately frowned.
I had no idea what she was trying to say.
So I quickly asked, “Who are you talking about?”
Silence filled my mind for a second.
Then her short reply came, making my heart stop for a moment.
“Our Mate.”
