I ran as fast as I could through the trees.
The farther I got from the Night Shadow Pack's forest and the closer I came to the border, the better. I just hoped no one would notice I was gone before I made it beyond their territory.
Suddenly, Ignis spoke after a long silence, her voice filled with concern. "Do you smell that?"
I gradually slowed down. Then I lifted my head, closed my eyes, and took a deep breath. "It's blood."
I opened my eyes, tension tightening my chest. The scent was strong... Very strong.
"It's coming from over there," I whispered as I stared between the trees.
