CHAPTER 10

CHAPTER 10 It’s nine in the morning. Leona has put on her clothes in colors of red and black. She has a sack with her stuff inside and is about to board in the airship. Xialing kissed her goodbye, and she is now waiting for everyone to arrive. The airship is huge made from metal. For Leona it looks like a balloon. It actually works with fire, perfect for a Dragon. The boys arrive at the scene and are lined up. “Good morning. I hope you are ready. The trip is gonna take four hours and then a representative is gonna wait for us there so we can start” she announces. Ren appears to wish them good luck. “So, a pilot will fly you there and drop you. He won’t be staying there with you since we want you to blend in. He will come in three days to pick you up. If something happens and you need him to come earlier you can signal him and he will come back.” Leona has learned about this. The Grandmaster has taught them of the bright fire. It’s a specific move that the person sends a piercing light up to the sky thinking the one that he wants them to see it. The light will appear bright, and the person will see it. “Yes Sir” they said in one voice. The boys started boarding and Leona is waiting to go in last. Ren approaches her. “I’m sorry I won’t be there.” Leona puts her hand on top of his shoulder; she feels really comfortable around him. “Please, don’t. You helped enough and this is something small. More important things are needing your attention.” Ren reaches with his palm on her forehead, touching it. Leona feels a surge of energy hitting her. “What was that?.” “I just gave you a blessing. That will help your powers grow. Dragons that are blessed by the Emperor are vigorous.” Leona blushes and already feels stronger. ‘Wow, who would have thought….’ “Thank you so much Ren. We won’t fail you.” And like that she boards the airship. They take off and lift to the sky. She is glued to the window realising how beautiful it is from up here. All the boys do the same, feeling this urge to fly. “That is so unfair. We are Dragons yet we can’t fly” Josh whines. Leona can’t help but agree with that. The Dragons gave up their form to understand the humans, but they kept their powers. Why not flight though? Also, from that point, the were no Dragons meaning, they all transformed to humans but never back to their original form. Because of that, they had to come up with an idea of flight; and that where airships came as an idea. “Why did we give up on flying anyway?” Val says. The boys are silent as they remember he was an a*s these past few days. “Yeah, I agree” Leona breaks the ice. “Um, can we talk?” Val asks her and she follows her. They go to the other side of the airship, a little further away from the rest of them. “I’m sorry Leon. I’m really am. I was the worst. I--” Leona stops him. “You did great on the first task. But I should explain myself. I wasn’t thinking of myself. I wanted us to get out first. I did a stupid move, I basically wasted my stamina, but it’s not like I abandoned you. I took the heavy stuff. I think from that point on you didn’t like me.” Val is standing there, gawking at her. “That.. is true. Thanks for explaining. But, I was so jealous of you. You have the favor of the prince and also, he gave you his blessing.” She understands that could make someone feel jealous of her. “I know. I’m sorry. I mean that could change to be honest. I heard a lot of Masters were arguing cause they wanted to pick you as their student.” Val blushes and started feeling better. “That is true, I’m still awesome!” he jokes, and they laugh. “Oh, how did you know I’m blessed” she is curious to learn. “Well, you reek of power. You would sense it if it were me. But it’s good he blessed you. Basically, he is helping us all. Your power will make us also strong.” Leona feels relieved now that she can be of help. Josh comes closer to them. “So Leon, how did it go with that girl?.” Leona freaks out as she remembers that bad night that she got almost hooked up with a girl. “I-- um” she tries to find a fitting answer. “She wouldn’t stop talking about you to the other girls says how much of a gentleman you were!.” ‘Oh shit.’ “Wow Leon, that’s legit good” Val comments. Leona feels too much embarrassed of that. “Let’s just change subject.” “How is your sis Josh?” Val asks. ‘He has a sister?’ Leona wonders. “She is good. I’m hoping that I will be able to take care of her now by becoming a Dragon Warrior.” “Sister?” she asks to learn more. “Here look” and he shows a small necklace he has with a drawing of her. It’s like the male version of him. “She even has your eyes” Val comments. ‘That’s our eyes.’ “Dragon eyes?” she let it slip. “Yeah, weird huh? Sometimes it happens on girls, having the eyes of a Dragon if a member of their family is a Dragon but it goes away when they grow.” Leona thinks about it. What if the girl is like her? Will it go away from her too? “She is all I have. Our parents abandoned us, and we are on our own since then. I have to become great so to give her the life she deserves” Josh’s eyes are full of tears. Leona reaches him with her hand, touching his shoulder. “Josh, it will happen! I’m sure of that!” she sounds reassuring and confident. But someone would say, don’t promise things you never know that you can keep. *two hours after the landing*. ‘Blood, screams. Who would have thought this will turn out like this? I’m shivering, I don’t think I can move my body. I need to get out. I didn’t plan for this. Why, why so much blood?.’
