>>>Alpha Gideon's pov<<<
I stood in the dimly lit cell, my arms folded across my chest as I watched Stephanie huddled in the corner. She was trembling, her eyes wide with fear as she tried to make herself as small as possible. I knew that I should feel satisfaction, that I should feel some sense of justice for what she had done, but all I felt was a hollow emptiness.
I turned to leave, my footsteps echoing against the cold stone walls of the palace. But before I could take more than a few steps, I heard a voice behind me. "Gideon, wait."
I turned to see my mother standing in the shadows, her arms crossed over her chest. Her eyes were stern, her expression unreadable as she regarded me.
"What is it, Mother?" I asked, my voice edgy.
She stepped forward, her eyes never leaving mine. "I came to talk to you," she said. "To make you see sense."
"Sense?" I scoffed. "What sense is there in letting a traitor go unpunished?"
"Stephanie is not a traitor," my mother replied firmly. "She's innocent, Gideon. You know that as well as I do."
I felt a surge of anger rising within me. "Innocent? She betrayed us all, Mother. She deserves to be punished."
My mother's eyes narrowed. "And what about the war, Gideon? What about our pack? You think this is the time to be distracted by petty revenge?"
I felt confused. "What are you talking about, Mother?"
"The vampire clan, Gideon," my mother sighed. "We're at war, in case you've forgotten. And all you can think about is punishing a girl who had nothing to do with it."
I frowned. "Stephanie is supposed to be my mate," I said. "But all she's done is bad luck and regrets, I'm an Alpha and she's just a lowly Omega."
My mother shook her head. "You're not thinking straight, Gideon. You're blinded by anger and hate. Stephanie is not your enemy. She's a victim, just like the rest of us."
I felt a pang of guilt. Was it possible that I was wrong? That I had misjudged Stephanie? I shook my head, trying to push away the doubts that were creeping into my mind.
"I don't want her as my mate, Mother," I said firmly. "The moon goddess didn't bless me, she cursed me with such a mate that I hate."
My mother's eyes softened. "Gideon, you can't choose who you love. The moon goddess knows what she's doing. You just have to trust her."
I felt my resolve wavering. I didn't know what to do. I was torn between my duty to my pack and my feelings for Stephanie.
My mother stepped closer, her hand reaching out to touch my arm. "Loosen up, Gideon," she said softly. "Open your eyes. You might just see something you've been missing all this time."
I looked at my mother, unsure of what to say. I felt a sense of conflict raging inside me, a battle between my duty and my desire. I didn't know how to choose between them.
As I turned to leave, my mother's voice followed me. "Think about it, Gideon," she said.
******
I sat alone in the cold, damp cell, my knees drawn up to my chest as I tried to keep warm. I had been locked up here for hours, with nothing but my thoughts to keep me company. I had no idea what would happen to me now that I had been accused of betraying the pack.
Suddenly, the door opened and the queen mother walked in. She was a formidable woman, with piercing eyes that seemed to see right through me. I couldn't help but feel intimidated by her presence.
She stared at me for a moment before speaking. "I can feel your strength," she said. "You are a very strong woman. I know it's hard, but you just have to keep going."
I felt a sense of comfort from her words. It was as if she could sense the turmoil inside me, the fear and uncertainty that threatened to overwhelm me.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked up at her. "Thank you," I whispered. "I'll try to be strong."
The queen mother nodded, her expression softening. "I won't let you suffer too much for now," she said. "I promise to send food to you and release you by tomorrow morning."
I felt a sense of relief wash over me. At least I wouldn't have to spend another night in this cold, dark cell.
"Thank you," I said again, my voice barely above a whisper.
The queen mother smiled, a rare gesture that seemed to light up the otherwise gloomy cell. "You're welcome," she said. "And remember, Stephanie, you're not alone. We'll get through this together."
I felt a glimmer of hope as she spoke. Maybe, just maybe, I wasn't as alone as I had thought. Maybe there were people who believed in me, who would stand by me no matter what.
As the queen mother turned to leave, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards her. She had given me a small glimmer of hope in a dark and uncertain time. And for that, I would always be grateful.
But I still knew that there is more to come, and this was only the beginning.
After having food from the queen mother, Gra came to visit me in the cell.he stares at me with such sadness in his eyes that it breaks my heart. He's promised to do everything in his power to ensure my safety and freedom, but he can't help but feel guilty for not being able to protect me earlier when the Alpha first took me captive.
"I'm sorry," he says, his voice heavy with regret. "I should have been there to protect you."
I offer him a small, understanding smile. "It's okay," I reply softly. "I don't blame you. The Alpha is a powerful foe, even for someone as skilled as you."
Grey takes my hand in his, holding it tightly. "Still, I should have done something," he murmurs, his eyes locked onto mine.
I lean forward, our faces only inches apart. "You are doing something now," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. "You're here with me, and that's all that matters."
The warmth of my breath against his face sends shivers down Grey's spine. I can sense that he feels something for me, and I can't help but feel the same. He leans in closer, our lips almost touching, ready to take a chance and express his feelings for me.
But just as our lips are about to meet, the sound of approaching footsteps echoes down the dark, dank hallway. Grey quickly pulls away, his heart racing with the fear of being caught.
"I have to go," he says, his voice barely above a whisper.
I nod, a sad smile playing at the corners of my lips. "I know," I replied. "Be careful out there."
Grey gives my hand a final squeeze before turning and hurrying away. As he disappears into the darkness, I wonder if we'll ever have a chance to explore the feelings that have been brewing between us. But for now, all I can do is wait and hope for a brighter future. Little did I know that I have no clue of what is waiting for me.
