Chapter 19

It was a month after the first court against Frank Wrech held. I was glad that He finally put in Jail for forcing me and Max to steal Jewellery. He was behind the jewellery robbery.

I remember the first time I gave testified on court. I was nervous, I never did before. And then I met Kate in the waiting room. She was also going to testified against Frank.

" Kate!" I called her

" Alexa!" She called me almost at the same time, and we hugged each other.

" I missed you Alexandra Carter! How are you ?" She asked me after a few month we never meet.

" I missed you too Kate. I'm fine, they treat me good. How are you? I hear you on witness protection too." I asked her.

" Yes, US Marshal protect me and my family. I hope it's going to be over soon. I really missed my life" she said.

" I'm sorry I put you and your family in trouble" I said as I felt sorry I made her and her family thru this.

" It's not you fault Alexa, it was Frank. He should not do this to either of us."

" I hear about what happen with you. Why don't you tell me about that? " she asked me

" I can't tell you Kate, I don't want to put you in danger. " I said.

" I always wonder why you don't want to take picture with me." she said" now I know".

She was right. I never want to take picture with anyone back then. That's why I've survive for the last 7 years.

" We could take picture after this all over." I said smiling.

" I know, I can't wait till it's over" she said hugging me again.

And then someone open the waiting room door. It was Jack.

" Jack?" I called him as I stood up and walked to him.

" HI Alexa, hi Kathryn " he greet us. Kate smile to him.

" How do you feel?" he asked me.

" Nervous." I said

" You'll be fine. Just tell them the truth, you can do this." he said

" Ya, I'll do this for Max too." I said. " Have you testified?" I asked him.

" Soon I guess. They just started the trial." he said.

" You can wait here with us" I told him.

" I can't. I'm sorry. I had to be in the court room Alexa. Just want to see how's going with you. " he said smiling

" Well, here I am" I said jokingly.

"I'll see you in court room, don't be nervous, you got this." he said

" Thanks Jack, you too" I said.

He nodded to me and Kate, then he left the room.

" That agent is cute" Kate said at a sudden.

" You think so?" I asked her as I get back to my seat with her.

" Yup! And he likes you." Kate teased me.

" I don't know about that. He said I'm not his type and he can be annoying sometimes." I told her.

" He likes you! I can tell!" she said widening her eyes convinced me that it was the fact.

" I wished" I said in lower tone. And I smile wondering I can be with him.

And then I had to testified. I saw Jack, Sam, Mr. Pearson and Kelly were in the court room. And then I saw Harry was there in the court too. He always followed the court update. And I feel more comfortable and confidence with support from the people that I know.

I still in the witness protection for my next case. The case that I most afraid of, the case against Xaverius Black.

I never met Xaverius Black in person, but I saw him in the news.

He was free on his father bail. And the US Marshal gave more protection to me due to several attemp of murder, but they manage to saved me.

It was late at night. Marshal Jean was sleep in her room next to me. Her room and I had a conjuction door. And there were 3 other Marshal on guard. Marshal Brad, Dylan and Steve. I almost remember all US Marshal signed in my witness protection team.

I feel sleepy and about to sleep when I hear something falling outside my room for few times. And then it was silent, but I still can hear some sound. Smooth sound. It wasn't sound of people talking or walking in usual, but it was a silent move sound. Like what I was doing when I want to steal something. Moved that you don't want anyone else to know what you are doing. I know, because I learn it.

I woke up slowly, and open the door to Jean's room quitely. She was still sleeping in her bed.

I wake her up slowly.

" Jean." I called her whisper as I shock her shoulder slowly. She open her eyes, but I put my index finger in my mouth, sign her to be quite. She woke up quitely. I sign her that someone outside. It was quite. Too quite, that we can't hear other Marshal talking. And that was suspicious, because usually it was never been this silent, there were always people talked or watch TV or play games during their guard time.

Jean reach for her gun in the side table. She move forward and she told me to walked behind her. I followed her. She open her room door slowly and took a peek outside. she told me to stayed still and not moving in her room. She come out from her room door.

I cant see what she was doing clearly, but then I hear a fighting outside the room. I took a peek and saw Jean fight with a man in black bodysuit. The man has a knife in his hand. He pin Jean, and about to stab her with his knife.

I have to help her, she was not match with the man. She barely move as the man pin her to the floor.

I run to the man and hit his head with a lamp in the table near by. The man fall to the side loosing his balance and drop his knife. I kicked his knife away. He was in pain and holding his head, but he still conscious.

I saw Jean grimaced in pain, she was bleeding in her stomach. I run to Jean and drag her back to her room and Locked the door.

" Jean, are you okay? can you breath? " I asked her.

She nodded, but she bleeds a lot. The man yelling, kicking and trying to open the door.

" Open the door Julie. No one would save you now" the man yelled.

" Pushed the alarm" she said pointing to a button below the table.

I pushed the button, but no alarm sound. I guess it's the silent alarm.

" Give up Julie, I promise I make it fast" the man said laughing evilly.

" Go, run" Jean told me to saved my self.

I shook my head.

" No Kelly, I'm not leaving you." I told her.

I hide her in the closed, and I walked to the conjuction door to my room. I took a peek from my room door. The man still banging on Jean's room. He didn't know that it was conjuction room.

I walked slowly and take another lamp from my bedroom. I came out from my bedroom door, and sneak behind him. I want to hit his head again, but he notice my presence and turned around slaming me to the ground. My hand catch him when I was falling and We both fall to the ground.

I scream in pain when my head touch the ground. I don't want to get up because it hurt so bad, but I know I would died if I stayed.

I remember the training combat Max told me. I tried to stand up right away and hit the man with my elbow, in his stomach coupke of times and it worked. He was in pain, but still tried to wake up and reach my legs. I fall to the ground again. He grab me and punched me. I feel the sting in my head. I turned him around with all my power, I pin him and punched him. It hurt bad in my knuckles, but he felt the pain as well. He get back to his conscious fast enough to turned me back to the ground.

I thought I was going to died when he strangled me, I almost can't breath. And then I saw Jean's gun below the side table next to me. It was a glock handgun, the Marshals usually had.

I tried hard to reach for the gun, but the gun seems to far from me. I can't die, not today!

I tried harder and push my self up with all my power and reach for the gun, and I shot him right in the head. He was throw off backward right away and I throw the gun away reflectly.

This isn't the first time I had a gun with me. Max teach me how to shot a gun, but I never pull the trigger to a live person before, and it shocked me.

I looked at the man, he didn't move, and blood started to spread on the floor around his head.

What I just did? Did I killed him? I cover my mouth and throw up, knowing that I've killed someone. It still shocked me that I killed the man nevertheless he tried to kill me.

I was so stress out and tried to stand up. I walked unsteady holding my neck, it still hurt and burning after the man strangled me.

I walked around the house and found blood everywhere. I find Marshal Brad, Steve and Dylan on the floor with blood around them.

They can't be! They died because of me, because protecting me!

I cried and cover my face. I can't be here, I put people in danger! I have to leave, people died if they around me!

I walked fast to my room, almost stumbled with the stuff messing on the floor. I reached for my backpack, grab any clothes and put them in my backpack. I don't have time to change my clothes, so I just put on my sneaker and my coat to cover my short and tank top. I don't have alot if things with me.

I went to Jean's room and checked on her. She is still alive. I move her back to her bed.

" Jean, I have to go. Help will be here soon for you." I said.

" Alexa" he tried to talked

" please hanged on Jean" I said to her. Hopefully she can hold on until the medic and help came.

I took Jean purse and took her money.

" I'm sorry, I need this. I'll pay it back later Jean. " I said as I looked at her.

She nodded. 

" Thank you Jean." I thanked her and then I left her and I walked out her room.

I walked fast to front door passing the man I just killed and saw Jean's gun on the floor. I take it with me as I think I need that for my protection. I don't know what else I'll be facing in the next few days before the trail.
