CHAPTER 4 - Betrayal on my wedding eve

1425 Words
JORDYN’S POV “Simon?” I said quietly as I approached the bathroom. It was enough to startle the both of them but I could not believe who Simon was having s*x with. For a moment, it felt as if every organ in my body had stopped walking. “Silver?” I said with my voice barely above a whisper. Silver immediately used a towel to cover her body and ran out of the bathroom. Simon walked boldly as if nothing had happened. He wasn't feeling any remorse that he had cheated on the eve of our supposed wedding. I couldn't believe that someone who was my best friend up until the time we had that quarrel at the strip club was sleeping with my husband. Tears filled my eyes immediately. “Silver, so you are f**king Simon?” “When did all these start?” I couldn't even say any more words but I just picked up my bag and headed out of Simon’s house. I cried as I walked through the streets without any idea where I was going. I wiped my tears when I approached a black limousine that stopped beside me. “Hello, Jordyn” “Having a bad day?” “Do you care to hop in please?” MARK’S POV I felt secluded in this family. My cousin, Simon, is getting married to Jordyn just for him to have a stake in our inheritance. Am I not part of the Smith family? Why must I be excluded from everything going on? The thoughts were heavy as I was having a quiet drive to the grocery store to get some cereal items. I was going through my cousin’s marriage invitation card. Don't I have some stake in all this wealth? Not once have I heard a talk about being a CEO at one of our companies while Simon is already in charge of 3 companies. I just work as a mere employee and it's not fair. Wow! “Simon’s wife is everything,” I whispered to myself as I went through the invitation card. I wish it was me getting married to her. Simon doesn't deserve to marry this girl but who am I to judge? I hope he treats her well, but the odds are quite low because one thing about my cousin is that he will definitely cheat. Just as I drove by, my eye caught the attention of someone. “Is that not Jordyn,” I whispered. I had already driven past her a bit so I reversed and slowed down beside her. Her face was swollen as if something bad just happened. What has Simon done this time? Jordyn was crying as she used her hand to wipe her face when she noticed my car slowing down beside her. “Hello” “Are you having a bad day?” “Do you care to hop in please?” I said. Jordyn looked at me and I could feel a pause in her thoughts. “Oh, it's safe. I am Simon’s cousin, Mark” “We exchanged greetings yesterday when you moved in, remember?” I said with a smile. Jordyn soon got into the car. Honestly, it looked like she was in desperate need of help. She took a front seat beside me as I drove. “Hey, you could help yourself with this,” I offered her a folder of clean handkerchiefs. “Were you heading somewhere?” I asked. Jordyn just nodded gently as she cleaned her face. “Is this about Simon?” There was an atmosphere of silence before I proceeded, “Look, I know that you feel terrible right now” “It's not easy being married to my cousin” “Growing up with him was already very challenging because of his attitude but I always wondered why he seems to be the favourite choice.” “I guess because we are only cousins” I was talking while I drove and I noticed that she stared at me for a moment. “Perhaps being a good man doesn't get you much,” Jordyn teased. “You think I am good?” I said, smiling. “Ehh, I guess we would see about that” “Let’s not rush into conclusions," she responded. I was happy that she was being responsive at least. I wish Jordyn could be mine instead. I excused myself to get to the grocery store while she waited in the car. Once I returned, I said, “here, I got this for you” I got her an expensive wine. “It's alcoholic though but this one is not,” I said as I pulled out another drink from the cart. “Oh, it’s fine” “I take alcohol and especially now, I would so much need this,” she smiled. I was so happy that she could finally have a real smile. Gosh! I couldn't stop admiring her beauty as I stole glances at her. I swear to God, if my cousin ever maltreats her again, we might have a problem. We soon got to my house which was only a few meters away from Simon’s house. “Do you want to stop by here or do you think you can handle staying with Simon through the night?” I asked. I knew it was going to be traumatic going back to Simon but I needed to know what he did that made her sad. “I think I will stay with you through the night at least,” Jordyn said. “But I wouldn't want him to know, we might even be exposed here” “Oh, you don't have to worry” “To ensure that it's safe, we could go through the back door. My house has quite a few entrances but it's more secluded and away from public view from behind,” I assured her. “That's cool then, thank you,” she smiled again. We soon got to my house and I was quite nervous. Funny how I was still stealing glances at her. She felt more comfortable than I was expecting and for a moment I didn't know if it was a good thing or not. Anyways, the most important thing is that I like her and I would do anything to make her feel happy. “You might want to join me,” she said, smiling, as she popped the bottle of wine I gifted her after I went to the grocery store. “Wait, wait, isn't that meant to be a gift” “It's kinda like a take-home gift,” I smiled. It had been a while since I was that happy. Being with her made me feel at peace and we had barely spent up to 2 hours together. “Oh, it's too late,” she smiled, faking a little dance. Jordyn soon got two cups and we drank. We played music all through the evening and played games. I felt like a teenager in love. Her eyes were like nothing I had ever seen and the glow around her smile was a thing of ecstasy. One thing led to another and we got to bed drunk. We had what seemed like the best s*x of our lives. Well, it was definitely the best for me. Gosh! It all felt like a dream with every stroke of energy that was used in our s****l adventure. Every touch, every kiss, every fondling was beautiful. She stayed in my house unnoticed by Simon or any other person for 3 days and I was beginning to get worried even though I enjoyed every bit of her presence. “So, have you thought about Simon?” I asked nervously during one of our nights cuddling with each other. “It's almost 4 days now” She just remained silent as she drew with her hands on my chest. I could tell that she was uncomfortable with the topic. It's understandable that she wouldn't want to leave though. We had shared many memorable moments in these few days. “After all, the marriage was arranged for a purpose,” I continued. “Mark, I need to tell you something,” she said, her hands retracted from my chest. My eyebrows were raised a bit as I wondered what she wanted to say. Her demeanor definitely suggested that it was quite serious. “I am all ears,” I responded. “I am pregnant, Mark,” she said nervously.
