~ Abra pov~ “Wake up Girl!!!” Ivy yells, while pounding on my door, before turning the knob and letting herself in my room. Ivy is my best friend for life, we were born on the same day and have been inseparable ever since. “It's Saturday….. means it's sleep day” I mumble while pulling my pillow over my face. “You asked for it, Ivysaur used tackle attack on Abra” she yells playfully while jumping in the air and landing on me “Ooof a critical hit” I say. We’ve used Pokémon attacks on each other since we were 10 after realizing there was a Pokémon with the same name as me. “Okay okay I’m up” I say looking at my bestie who has yet to get off of me “Mom and Dad want us to get up and get dressed right away, I think it’s something big the whole pack is in a frenzy” she whispered as if someone might hear us and scold us for gossiping. “We have 20 min so hurry up lazy butt!” “You are still in your pajamas” I say while raising an eyebrow and wagging my finger “Tisk tisk” Suddenly Ivy looks down eyes wide “Oops I was so excited I came here before getting ready, alright get out of bed and meet me down stairs when you are ready.” Ivy jumped up and raced down the hallway. morning people, I’ll never understand them. I lay in bed for a few minutes longer, finally with a sigh I rolled myself out of bed. I sat staring at my wardrobe wondering what I should wear; in all her excitement she didn’t tell me if it’s just the family or higher ranked members as well. Moments like these I wish I was 18 already, so I could mind link someone in our pack. I guess before we get ahead of ourselves a little backstory might help. Hi I’m Abra Alice Lore. I’m 17 and only one week away from my 18th birthday. I live with the Alpha Derek Moore and Luna Beatrix Moore who also happen to be Ivy's parents, my parents died 10 years ago. They were both the head warriors and the pack's gammas. They died protecting the alphas first born and only son Xander Moore from a large-scale rogue attack. Afterward Alpha Moore and his Luna took me in and raised me as one of their own. My mother and Beatrix were besties even before I was born so we were already very close before they were gone. I miss my family very much but know they would be happy that I was kept safe and still had a loving family after they were gone, well everyone besides Xander the alpha to be. We used to be really close when we were younger but it all changed after the attack. He never treated me as a sister but did respect me as part of the pack. He is a year older than me and Ivy, and probably the hottest guy in our pack. He’s 6’3 short spiked black hair and cerulean blue eyes. I used to daydream that he’d be my mate, but all he cares about anymore is training and being the strongest. With his insistence Ivy and I started training when we were 10 and he never went easy on us, even without our wolves he made sure we were strong and masters at both defense and offense. I am also the top marksman with firearms and stealthy enough to take on the lead scout. Once I get my wolf I can complete my full training and hopefully become a warrior. I am thankful for his strict training, but I also know there is more to life than just strength. The morning was hot already, even though it’s Fall. I quickly throw on my favorite red plaid skirt and a black tank throwing my long black hair into a messy bun and a pair of black combat boots my go to for foot wear. I give myself a one over in the mirror and with a small shrug head down stairs. I don’t have anyone to impress so why should it matter how I’m dressed. Ivy is waiting in the hallway outside of her door, she puts her arm out and I link mine with her while we head down stairs to see what was so important that I had to get up at 7am this morning… We make are way downstairs and into the dining room where the rest of the family has already gathered and are waiting for us “Good morning, Alpha, Luna I say sweetly taking my seat next to Ivy “Morning girls, took you long enough.” alpha Moore replied with a disapproving look that slowly morphed into a teasing smile “It was her fault daddy, you know Abra is the Luna of sleeping in” Ivy said “Lazy Lunas are not a thing my dear” Luna B says with a loving smile. “Don’t you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby, I don’t want to be a Luna” I squeal and we both break into laughter Xander is looking at us and shaking his head, “Seriously you two, grow up why are we even here dad? I should be out on the field training with Jax. ever since Xander got his wolf Ajax a year ago it’s all he talks about. “Son there is more to being an alpha than just training, you should be out there looking for your mate.” his mom pressed “As much as being able to retire and pass down my title as alpha to Xander and his future mate, that is not why I called you all.” “Daddy what is it? Is it about our birthday party next week?” Ivy asks nervously. “Alpha Justice Miles called me this morning. We are to have a meeting of the Alphas to discuss and possibly Align with the Blood Moon pack. “After all of these years why do they suddenly want to join The Treaty of the Alphas that was formed years ago? They were firm in the past that they could protect themselves without aligning.” Luna B responds. “That is true my dear, but apparently Beta Matt Stone from the Blood Moon pack found his mate, which happens to be Alpha Miles eldest daughter Violet. When the Treaty of the Alphas was first decided one of the clauses was if any Alpha born children find their mates, they must decide to either join the alphas pack or be a pack in the treaty.” “Why would they make a clause like that? Shouldn’t it be the mated pair's choice?” I asked “Well my dear years ago the treaty was first made, it came together because many. of the top ranking packs in our areas were abusing their power, treating their packs like slaves and killing anyone who defied them. The mate bond being practically unbreakable because a wolf almost never rejects their mate forced them to go around the rules. It was getting worse with each generation and went from bad treatment to torture, or even killing their fated mate. Finally certain leaders decided it was enough. They did not want their members or families to keep suffering because of different packs and the mate bond. Although most of those packs are no longer around mostly due to the alliance there still remain one or two packs that enforce s*****y and mistreat their packs. So, we will keep the clause to ensure the safety of future generations.” “How long is this meeting going to take?” ivy asked “I’m not sure my dear, but I promise I will be back in time for both of your birthday parties. I will be taking my leave in just a moment . Xander will be in charge of Alpha duties while I am away, and your mother will continue working with you both on party preparations.” With that Alpha Moore stood up, first going to his Luna and giving her a deep kiss, you could feel the longing and loneliness come through it. they never liked to be away from one another. Then he walks over to us giving us each kisses atop our heads and promising he will be back before our birthday. Lastly to Xander who gets a warm hug and words of affirmation about his taking over while he is away. As he leaves it dawns on me that if the treaty does decide to include the blood moon pack then their first event would be our birthday, just what we need extra pressure. After the Alpha left, Xander did not wait much longer before excusing himself leaving just the Luna, Ivy, and I at the table. “I don’t know much about the blood moon pack mom; can you tell us more about them in case we end up hosting them next week.” Ivy asked but we were both wondering. Whenever we wanted information on other packs or even things that did not necessarily concern us the only way we'd be able to get said information would be by making a case about why having said knowledge could help us perform our duties as daughters to the Alpha. Our family, although open and loving behind closed doors, were expected to maintain a certain amount of charm, grace, and strength to the outside looking in. that included all pack members because as Luna B would say “A pack puts all its faith and trust in their Alpha, so we must always make them feel confident in us. Never let them worry because of your actions or behavior. The strength of a pack can fall apart with poor leadership.” “you make a valid point my dear, although I do not know much about the newest Alpha. They are the number 1 pack on this side of North America and have single handedly brought down many of the enemy packs we had been looking at for rumors of horrid abuse towards pack mates and other unspeakable acts.” “So are they like heroes?” “I don’t really know, The Blood Moon pack like most others has dark spots in its history but since Alpha Alexi Masters took over as Alpha on his 16th birthday, He has done nothing but bring strength and pride to his pack.” With that Luna B. took her leave as well. She would have a lot of just in case planning and changes to adjust for in case we are welcoming an extra pack to our first shift. With it only being the two of us left now, I look over to Ivy and only half seriously complain. “Did they really have to wake us up so early for this, haven’t they discovered texting yet?” “Oh come on Abra, it’s not like you can just sleep all day now that we are done with high school.” “I know, but it's Saturday” “Don’t act like you are not super excited for our party coming up. we've been talking about it since we were 7” “I didn’t say I was excited but you know the two things I treasure most are Food and Sleep.” “ True. they definitely lost the mold when it came to you" she laughs "You mean broke it, no one else will ever be as awesome as me." I say sticking my tongue out at her. Ivy, although silly with me, was going to be a perfect Luna. She was beautiful and carried herself with dignity and grace. never letting emotions best her or forgetting her place. I tried so hard, but never mastered those qualities. when I focused I could keep it together for a bit but it wasn't really me. I'd never be that type of girl. Pulling me from my train of thought, Ivy asks. "Do you think we will meet our mates next Saturday? I know deep down you can’t wait until you are mated to my alphas beta or gamma and we always get to be together always, Just like our mothers!!” I smiled at my friend but deep down I knew not to wish for things because we have no choice in who we are with, I mean we can reject our chosen mates but that’s like spitting in the face of the goddess. Something I had no intention of doing. “Oh, mom, just text me. Our dress makers are here and want us to try on the dresses we helped design last time they were here!!” Ivy takes off running, I smile and chase after her. Only one week left, I know it’s going to go by much too quickly.
