The Adventures of Jack and Jamie (summer camp edition) episode 1 In a world where people could count on so few things there were a few things that one could depend on. A persons unique scent broadcast their status, alpha, beta or omega. Everyone came into their Status between ages 5-6 and everyone, no matter where they came from, what their background was, or what color skin they had... they all were born with the first words their soulmates would say to them, printed in their handwriting somewhere on their body. These were the facts that everyone knew. They were so ingrained in everyones life that, when the day came that someone was born different, people didnt really know what to do. Little Lake summer camp was the hot spot destination for every little Omega, Beta and Alpha child who had ever heard about it. They had everything! water to swim in, trees to climb, cabins where you would get to sleep with other kids your own age, in BUNK BEDS! And this was the year our main character was finally old enough to go. Jamie was a short kid, he had just turned 6 years old and he had come into his Alpha status, and boy was he excited to go to camp. He had skin that always looked slightly tanned, his hair was a sunny blond and his eyes were bright blue, full of excitement and mischief. If you looked at him, he'd look like any other kid on the street but Jamie had a secret, one his very successful parents were afraid would hurt his career down the line. You see Jamie was a very happy kid, he was healthy and smart but unlike every other kid on the block Jamie had one thing wrong with him, he wasn't born with a soulmate mark. This didnt bother Jamie at all, he thought love was ickey and he still covered his eyes when his parents kissed infront of him. Anyway back to Jamie. "yay!! camp camp camp!!" Jamie bounced up and down excitedly, his father laughing at his eagerness as he tried to help his son put on his backpack. Jamie turned to smile at his dad but that happy smile slipped away and was replaced with a pout as he realized his dad was once again paying more attention to the person he was talking to then him. "yes i understand that it's a costly piece of equipment but I'm confident that it will help the hospital provide better service to its patients." Dr. Robert said, giving his son an grin that conveyed he was close to convincing the hospital board to agree to buy the new machine. Jamie gave his dad a small smile and carefully slipped his arms into his backpack straps, sighing softly and watching sadly as his dad walked away to finish the call with the hospital. He knew his dad was always working hard, but he quietly wished that he'd take a few hours off of work to play with him once in awhile. Jamie knew he was being selfish by wishing for that, his dad loved him and Jamie was really happy his daddy had gotten enough time off to drive him to the Camp. It was a full two hour drive from their home in the city, two whole hours he would get to spend time just talking with his dad, it was a birthday wish come true! Jamie had everything packed and Ms. Eli, the lady that watched him every day when his dad was at work was helping him bring his bags out to his daddies car that was parked outside the fancy hotel they lived in. Jamie waved hello to the nice lady at the front desk, and he giggled happily when the doorman crouched down to give him a high five. Eli helped Jamie into the back seat of the car, on the right side so he could watch his dad while he drove, he was so excited, this would be the longest he had ever gotten to spend with his dad in person without him being on the phone, they would get to talk and Jamie would actually get to know his dad a bit better. "so you think he'll like my present?" Jamie asked ms. Eli as he held the little tin of goodies nervously. The two had been up for 2 hours making the little tin of treats, Jamie still had a little flour in his hair because of it. He had wanted everything to be perfect for his dad so he had been super extra careful to measure everything and portion it out just right. "i think he'll love it Jamie," Eli smiled sweetly and she pressed a kiss to the top of his head just as Dr. Robert came out of the hotel and sat in the front of the car. "go on Jamie," she whispered softly to the boy, encouraging him to give the tin to his dad. Jamie chewed nervously on his lower lip before taking a big breath and holding out the tin to his father. "daddy i made these for you!" He said, holding out the tin, waiting for his dad to take it. His dad did take the tin after a moment, then tossed it carelessly onto the seat beside him. "thanks for the consideration, ill be happy to submit my formal proposal at the board meeting tomorrow." Dr. Roberts said, finally turning off his phone and grinning at Eli who frowned at him. "Jamie made cookies for the trip." She told the busy doctor, a slight scowl on her face after having seen Jamie's look of heart break when his dad had tossed aside the tin. "oh? did you help Eli make cookies Jamie?" Dr. Robert turned in his seat to grin and ruffle his son's hair, Jamie instantly perked up and beamed happily as he nodded at his dad. "well i think that the other kids at camp will be delighted that you brought cookies to share with everyone." Dr. Roberts smiled and turned back around as his phone started ringing again, he answered it, happily talking to someone he knew at the hospital. Jamie's little heart fell and the little boy struggled to hold back tears as his father pulled out of the hotels driveway and onto the street, the next two hours his dad talked on the phone, the longest he went between calls was maybe 20 minuets. After his dad said goodbye to the person he was talking to Jamie would try to tell him a joke and ask him a question about what his dad did at the hospital the other day, Jamie however, had to stop talking whenever his dads phone rang and he had to pick it up. It was a long two hours, Jamie only got to talk to his dad 4 times during the drive and he felt so miserable as his dad pulled into the camp driveway, it was supposed to be just the two of them, talking and laughing, instead his dad had spent the whole drive on the phone. Now they were here and Jamie had run out of time to talk to him. His dad was still on the phone as he helped Jamie carry his things to the registration booth, most of the kids would be coming in about a half an hour on the camp bus so the only other people at the camp were grownups. 15 minuets later... "Bye Jamie! have fun at camp!" Dr. Robert yelled as he drove out of the camps parking lot, leaving Jamie in the care of one of the Omega camp councilors. "Alright Jamie, your all signed in, and your stuff is put away in your cabin, do you wanna do something while we wait for the other campers to get here? maybe have some lunch?" Councilor Jenna asked, crouching down to be eye to eye with the young alpha. "no thank you.." Jamie said softly, camp already seeming a lot less fun now that his dad was gone. the little boy let out a soft sigh and he went over to sit down on underneath a little maple tree that was only a bit taller then him. The blond looked around with a little bit of interest. The camp was huge, it held kids from the age of 5 to 17 the younger kids all bunked together in the cabins closest to the main activites and they always had a councilor there to keep them out of trouble and help, the older the kids got the fewer that shared a cabin. the youngest kids had 24 to each cabin, the oldest had only 3. It took awhile for the buses to arrive, there had to be at least a hundred kids of all ages, they piled out of different buses, alphas omegas and beta's all traveling together, the older kids headed to the cabins farthest from the main building, to put their stuff away before heading off to do activites. the youngest were herded inside to get registered while the ones inbetween rushed off to play, leaving all their bags in a pile on the ground. Jamie got to his feet and walked over to the cabin where he, his dad and the nice camp lady had put his things away, he was tired and sad so he just wanted to sleep. Jamie climbed up onto the top bunk of the bed and he sighed softly as he moved to be as close to the wall as possible so no one could see him. He pulled his pillow close, closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. The next thing Jamie knew he was awake after someone had thrown something at him, he looked at it and was confused to see another pillow, and then the head of another boy poked up over the head of the ladder. Both boys stared at the other in surprise, the one that had climbed up the ladder pushed his messy black hair out of his icy blue eyes to get a better look at the blond. his heart beat loudly, his breath coming out a little quicker as he stared at the boy who was giving him a wary look. He felt so nervous but... also really excited. He took a breath and held out his hand like his father had taught him. "h-hi... I'm Jamie." "hi Jamie, I'm Jack."
