We sat by the fire in the fire place after cleaning the kitchen and a quiet moment he then starts to open up. "My grandparents raised me because my mother was a alcoholic woman who only cared about the bottle and men".
I responded "Rodney you don't have to talk about this if you don't want".
His sipped the glass of wine and said "no I need to . You asked why I don't date black women..."
I knew where this was headed and what he was about to may not sit right with me . I tried to stop him, but he kept talking.
"My mom she was alway loud and mean and angry. She had me around other black females who were also alcoholics and I was molested not once by these women and my mom did nothing. I told my grandma finally and that's when I moved in with them. It just the way my mom presented herself along with those abusers that turned me away from black women. The loud, angry all the time s**t was a turn off".
I snapped back quick "so what you think all us black women are mad and angry and loud. Yes I admit there are some who fit that category, but you can't label us all that way".
He chuckled "some every black women I've met had one of those tendencies I just said if not all . I don't like having someone...someone ghetto..."
"Woah wait a minute ghetto ? Look you don't like black women cool but what you won't do is disrespect us . I won't allow that especially coming from you a black man. How do you sleep at night with that mindset yea your momma ain't s**t, but damn what do you think of your grandmother who was a black women? You quick to call us ghetto but it's us black women who are risking our lives to save and protect y'all black men and then what y'all do go get a Karen or a Maria who probably calls you a n****r behind your back. While us black women are front line at this protest speaking because these white cops out here killing y'all off like it's survival of the fittest. I won't sit here and allow you to do it".
He replied "you just proved my point your getting mad over something I believe in and with that Karen and Maria I won't have that problem".
I shook my head laughing sarcastically sitting the glass on the table ....
"I think this conversation is done I'll call my own taxi in the morning and this black girl will get out of your hair . I think I have enough to do my story on good night Mr. Evrining" . I heard him say my name as I walked away to the guest room but I kept walking I didn't need to hear no more of the bullshit that leaves his lips .
Rodney
I woke up the next morning and realized what I said last night was offensive and it came off wrong and I wanted to apologize to Diamond . When I got to the guest bedroom the door was cracked. I slowly opened it with a light knock and saw Chino sitting on the made up bed . She was gone and I didn't even get to apologize .
One month later
"Nigga you stressing like you scared to see what she wrote" my homeboy said after showing up to my office with the magazine.
"Man just had me the s**t okay"? I said finally reaching for it .
He had the page fold so when I opened it, it went straight to the page. "So let me guess Mark you already read it"?
He smiled and said "yep I sure did and I mean you need to read it".
I began reading hoping for the worst, but I didn't read anything bad . And when it came to the question of why I didn't date black women she simply said "us black women to sum it up just ain't his preference" .
"She didn't drag me" I said to Mark .
"Yea she didn't and I'm surprise because any other probably would've with the s**t you said". I had told Mark what had went down and he to went in on me as he did plenty other times before.
He then slid his phone to me "but your mom on the other hand oh she dragged the f**k outta you on TashaK show".
I pressed play and heard my moms voice on the blogger TashaK show saying how me her son never did anything for her and how she was homeless and I knew and didn't help".
I stopped it and said "that's just some bullshit man I can't deal with her right now".
Mark replied "thinking of how you going to fix things with that journalist aren't you"?
"Man she may just be the one to change my preference bruh she lives up to her name she's a diamond man a true diamond".
I grabbed my phone and called my assistant who was out getting me coffee. I needed to reach out to her and see her.

Posted my phone up and took a quick picture before sitting down and looking at the menu. Rondey's assistant called me and said he wanted to meet to talk about the article . I spared him a great deal in the article so what could he possibly wanna talk about .
Soon as I picked up the menu I heard his voice say my name.
I looked up and saw him standing before me with a small stuffed elephant in his hands . I couldn't help but to smile and he replied "peace offering I come in peace" he said handing over the elephant.
"Thank you" I said as he sat down beside me getting comfortable.
"I wanna say first that I apologize for the way I came off the last time we saw each other and then I wanna thank you for not dragging me in the article because you really should've".
"You're welcome".
He breathed in and then out before saying "and I owe you for that so I wanna take you out".
"Wait .... I can't... you don't need to do that..."
"I don't but I want to and I won't take no for a answer plus I already made reservations for tonight . It's not a date it just a thank you dinner for not bashing me please"?
"Rodney I....."
