Fake Relationship Stage 1: Planning

Rodney

"Okay um favorite movie"? I asked her as we walked along side the beach barefooted .

"Love Jones" she replied smoothly .

"Awww every females favorite" I said with a grin.

She flipped the question back on me and I replied "my favorite movie of all time is Booty Call".

She busted out laughing and said "are you serious Booty Call"?

I nodded and said "yep, yep that was a good movie and I always had a little crush on Vivica".

She stopped walking and sat down "the ocean is so beautiful at night".

I sat down next to her and said "yes it is I remember growing up how my grandparents brought me to the beach every time ...." I stopped and then she asked "every time what"?

"Every time my mom would flake on me . She would call and get me hype up about coming to get me and then the day would come and she would be no where in sight. Sad and crying my grandparent brought me to the beach. We'd spend hours upon hours just until my mind was completely off my mom".

She looked at me and said "that still to this day bothers you don't it"?

I stared back at her and replied "what"?

She answered back "your mom not keeping her word"?

I looked back at the ocean and said "not going to lie it is and everyday I'm fighting to overcome it".

Diamond grabbed my hand and said "the only way you'll get over it is if you forgive her for that and everything else".

Hearing what she said I know she was right because I've heard it before from plenty other people, but I wasn't at the point in my life to just let everything she had done go and forgive I couldn't just yet, but I prayed maybe one day I will.

I stood back up and pulled her up saying "come we should go it's getting late".

Walking her to her door she thank me for a great night .

"Your welcome and again thank you for taking it easy on me in the article".

She smiled and said "again no problem".

I then asked "I'm going to a banquet this weekend and I was wondering if I fly you to New York would you occupy me"?

Diamond looked down at her hands nervously and said "wouldn't that be in public and you know paparazzi would probably be at that event you don't want them making up something that isn't true. Like us being together or something now would you"?

In my mind I wouldn't care , but I said to her "I promise if they do I'll straight it out immediately. I just need a date since the invite was such a short notice. Everything is free think of it as another vacation for you just for two days".

She leaned in and kissed my right cheek and afterwards saying "just let me think about it okay"?

I nodded and said "sure that's fair but I hope you decide to come".

She unlocks her door and with a smile said to me "goodnight".

When I got back inside the car service Mark calls .

"So what did she say"? He asked .

"I didn't ask I couldn't" I replied .

"Look I know you feeling her and s**t which is a good thing , but you need her to show the public that you'll date a black women".

I sigh and said "I know I just don't wanna use her she such a good girl . I invited her to New York if she agrees then I will ask her there".

Mark replied "you might not even want to ask her you said she has a strong head on her shoulder . And the less she knows the more authentic it'll look to the public eye. She has to go to this banquet with you everyone who's everyone will be there".

I blew off and said into the phone "I know man I know just what I'm going to do".

So I'm at work working my upcoming piece for the magazine when a delivery guy comes walking in.

He stops and chit chats with one of my coworkers before I see him point to me. The guy comes over and hands me a big huge box .

"The hell did you get delivered here"? Charlene asked.

Confused on what it is I responded “nothing I didn’t order nothing to come here”.

Another coworker of mine name Lavern says “well s**t open it I wanna know what the hell this mystery s**t is”.

Grabbing the scissors off my desk I opened the box and inside was a beautiful blue gown.

“Oh b***h that dress looks like money” Charlene said looking at the tag and then she said “and damn this dress is two thousand dollars b***h one where did you get the money and two where are you going because I’ve never known you to spend this much on a dress”?

Reading the card that came in the box with the dress it read “I hope you come this is a gift from me to you even if you don’t decided to come. I just wanna see how beautiful you’ll look in it. Love Rodney”.

I smiled sitting the card on the table and said “wow Rodney wow”.

Lavern smirks and says “oh Rodney, Mr. bachelor dropping the coins on you . Girl you must slob on the knob last night on y’all little pow wow”?

I quickly spoke “I did not slob on no knob he just asked for me to occupy him in New York this weekend at a banquet”.

Charlene then asked “I hope you said yes”?

Looking at the dress in my hands I said “I told him I’ll think about it but maybe just maybe I’ll take him up on the offer I mean I need to wear the dress right”?

Lavern nod in agreement with me and respond standing up “you need someone to dust them cobwebs off that p***y I say go live yo best life”.

I placed the dress back in the box and with a smile said “I will but not because of the cobwebs”. I sent a text to Rodney saying “I got your gift and I’m down I’ll occupy you as a FRIEND to the banquet this weekend”.
