Megan's words captured everybody's attention, and Aidan couldn't help but groan out loud. He had a sneaky suspicion she would put herself in harm’s way again. Even though she hadn't said a word, he could tell from her expression he would not like what she had to say. Lucy heard his groan and sent him a sympathetic glance, bracing herself.
“I would hazard a guess this Witt Pierce guy was trying to get to the farm to see if he could find me and the veil. But someone wanted to prevent him from achieving his goal. Maybe the killer was tired of mistakes, maybe it’s a warning, or maybe the dead man tried to cheat his killer. I don’t know why, that’s for you to discover, Detective Carson. One thing we know; the killer is here in Citrus Beach and we need to draw him out.”
