Chapter Three

Nora's POV

It was Mia's birthday the whole house was flooded with lots of people,I was instructed to serve her guests,it was time for the celebrant to cut her cake, I was signaled to bring the cake which I did, heading towards her I tripped,one of her friends had stretched her leg intentionally to make me fall,I was covered in cake.

"What have you done?" Alpha Daniel's voice thundered, making me shiver.

I stood up and bowed my head,"I'm sorry I tripped, I didn't mean to." I tried my best to explain.

"Is this how you decided to take it out on me?" Mia said as she approached me.

"Because I didn't allow you to hang out with my brother, because I told him the kind of person you are, Bryan you can see for yourself the kind of person she is" She screamed these words at me,and called Bryan's attention.

So the reason why Bryan has been cold towards me was because of what Mia told him,he didn't bother to hear my own side of the story.

"So you've been trying to seduce my son?"

"I wouldn't dare Alpha" tears had started to well up in my eyes,I tried my best to hold it in, I couldn't afford to cry here.

"You should have kicked her out Alpha" A woman spoke up

"The Alpha is just being merciful towards her" An elder replied.

"It's just an accident,why the commotion, Bryan kindly help your sister order a new cake." Cynthia said as she approached us

"Okay mom"

"Sweetheart, why not have a change of clothes?" Cynthia said as she smiled at me.

Cynthia is the wife of Alpha Daniel the Luna of Crescent Pack. She saved me from being skinned alive. Sometimes I wonder why she is so different from the others. She's kind, beautiful and caring. Bryan and her share similar facial features, unlike her daughter and her husband.

"Mom, what are you doing? You should be on my side" Mia retorted.

"I'm on your side darling, I'm doing this so your party can continue." Cynthia replied

"What are you still waiting for, sweetheart." It was as if she was helping me secretly.

"I'll have my leave now Luna."

I couldn't return to the party,so I went home Sarah was fast asleep when I returned,I went to my room laid on my bed, the scene of the party kept playing, no matter what I did or how hard I try,they will never accept me as their own, I'll always be the enigma of the pack, a wolf with no lineage or legacy I said to myself as I drifted off. I woke up late in the morning,I didn't want to go to work,but we weren't that well off. Sarah was the one in charge of the pack groceries. Her pay isn't enough either, though she didn't want me to work. She wanted me to study but they never permitted me to go to school. They didn't want me to associate with their children because I had no origin,so Sarah homeschooled me and she had a hard time putting up with them for my sake.

"Nora, you are late for wo-rk." She stopped amidst her sentence when she saw me.

"Nora, have you been crying?"

"No, why will I? Something flew into my eyes." I said as I tried to avoid her gaze.

"What happened at the party Nora,what did Daniel do this time? He might be the Alpha but that doesn't give him the right to treat you unfairly, I'll let him have a piece of my mind." Sarah said furiously.

She was making her way to the Alpha's place, which will make matters worse or even get us killed.I had to plead with her "You will only make matters worse by going there Sarah,you could get us killed."

"I'm so sorry Nora,I couldn't protect you." She sounded emotional.

"I'm fine Sarah Cynthia helped me last night, I'm so grateful for her intervention."

Deep down in my heart I wanted to call her mom not Sarah but the laws of the land doesn't permit an adopted pup that is also not from the pack to be seen as a real child so it's basically illegal for me to call her mom since she's not my real

mother,I do wonder sometimes who created the damn law of Crescent Pack.

"Nora that reminds me the full moon is some days from now might fall on your birthday do you know what that means?"

"That means the wolf's ability and strength increases that day and I might be able to shift!" "Yup,but the truth is we don't know your real birthday so you might be able to shift later or sooner" Sarah replied.

What Sarah said was the fact we don't know my real birthday, Sarah had just speculated my age when she found me, which means I might be younger or older than my age,but it doesn't matter I'm sticking with this age. "I can't wait to see the special gift I have Sarah."

"Same here Nora."

Every wolf has a special gift and Sarah's gift is that she can sense people approaching from a long distance.I wonder what my own will be. I decided to skip work for that day and helped Sarah in the store.
