Chapter 2

1690 Words
Scintilla POV: My father and his new wife Vivian had gone to their friends house, I really didn't know why, since usually during the day of Solstice one would spend time with its family and then in the evening gather around to spend time with friends and others. But then again I wasn’t too shocked, since my father had been avoiding me more and more after he married Vivian. She definitely had created a different kind of atmosphere in our house, it was nothing like the one we had with my mom. With Vivian in our house everything felt more tense, a bit more dark, I got the feeling of secrets being kept. I had gotten my mothers gift of sensing things, especially feelings, so I knew I was right. I hadn't quite polished that skill of mine or any of my fairy skills really, but I knew I had plenty of time for that in my life, so I wasn’t rushing to become anything I wasn’t sure of.  My father knew I could sense more than most fairies could, so probably that’s why they had chosen to avoid me on this day, when my senses were even stronger. I don’t blame them for that. He probably doesn’t want to shove his feelings for my stepmother in my face. Since a while ago I had realised he truly loved her and adored her, which made me uncomfortable and sad. I had told him that, so he tried to hide his feeling from me and he was quite good at it too. I knew he wouldn’t lie to me, just to tell me that he didn’t love Vivian as much as my mother, so he kept his feelings quiet around me. He could never lie, but it didn’t mean that he wouldn’t try to protect my feelings. After I had cleaned the whole kitchen, which took me almost two hours, I went back to my room. It was located on the second floor of our A-frame house. And I could see the whole forest outside of my window. If I had better eye sight, I could even see the waterfall from my own room. But sadly I wasn’t gifted in the “Out of this world amazing eye sight” department.  After taking a very cold shower, I brushed my teeth for the second time today already. And looked in the mirror in front of me. My almost white hair were drying over my shoulders, hiding my tattoo which was located on my upper back. And my pale grey eyes looked a bit more sad than usual. My short and stumpy eyelashes were barely visible, so I put some eyeliner and mascara on, to hide the fact that I practically didn’t have any. And my incredibly pale eyebrows didn’t help to shape my face in any way, since they also were almost invisible, so I shaded them in a little bit and put on some lip gloss. The lip gloss I had gotten from my best friend, who loved to practice witchcraft, so she had created this lipgloss to smell like poppy seed muffins. It made me think of my mom and my love for baked goods.  Once I left the bathroom, I headed straight back to my room to get dressed. I already knew what I was going to wear today- A white tulle dress without straps. It was my moms, she always looked like a true fairy in that dress, the kind of fairy that would be the main character in a fantasy book. I had taken pretty much all of my moms clothes after she passed away. I wanted to preserve them and keep them close. So whenever I would feel lonely, I could put something of my moms and feel like she was still there with me.  After getting dressed, I sat down on my windowsill to stare out in the forest. There was a slight breeze, making some of the leaves on the trees dance around. I took a few deep breaths to feel more calm, before I had to head out to the town. I knew I would meet my best friend there and spend most of my day with her, so that didn’t make me anxious. I was just worried that there would be still people sending sad looks my way and saying sorry to me endless amount of times, because this was the anniversary of my mothers death. But then a weird feeling struck me out of nowhere. Anger mixed with frustration flew my way, but those most certainly weren’t my own emotions. They came from somewhere in the forest. I tried to see if there was an angry fairy flying through the forest, but I couldn’t see anyone in the near distance.  “Bizarre” I mumbled beneath my nose. I had never felt anyones feelings from further than a couple feet away. But there was no one I could see. Yet my stomach twisted as I felt once again immense amount of rage coming my way. It made me nervous. What could it be? As I squinted my eyes to see better, all of a sudden I saw deep black pair of eyes in the forest, they had a metallic shine to them, which I had never seen. Whomever that was, it most definitely weren’t a fairy, so that could mean danger. I took a sharp breath in and turned my head around, to not see the menacing eyes. I slowly got up, because I feared to move too quickly, just in case the creature would decide to attack, if I moved too swiftly. With soft steps I headed out of my bedroom, closing the doors behind me.  I leaned on the door with my back and tried to take deep breaths in and out, to calm myself. While at the same time I tried to feel the location of the mysterious being. I hadn’t seen anything, besides his eyes, so I had no idea what it could be. I listened in to hear any sounds around our home, but I heard nothing. yet I felt the anger feeling moving closer to my home, so he was definitely coming this way. Elijah POV: That f*****g witch b***h! I will murder her! How dare someone toy with my powers days before I will be announced as the new King of our Black Dragon Kingdom. Some jealous hag had put one son of a spell on me, so I couldn’t turn into a dragon anymore. I tried everything to be able to turn into the strong, metallic dragon I am, but nothing worked.  The witch had laid a course on me over the night. As soon as I woke up I could sense that something was wrong with me. And as I was about to jump out of my rooms window in the kingdoms tower, so I could turn into a dragon while falling, I realised that my dragon senses were off. So I tried to turn in my bedroom, but it didn’t work. I ran out of the castle to use our garden space, maybe I just needed to cool down and then I would be able to turn into the powerful dragon. But that didn’t work either.  That’s when I smelled the dark magic wreaking from the riverside next to our castle. I knew immediately that the powerful witch Moira of Habromania had done this. She had warned my parents and other dragons in our kingdom, that she would get her revenge on us, but none of us believed her. What could a sad little hag do to the most powerful creatures in all of Nine Kingdoms. Now I knew what she could do, but she didn’t know how fast I was and that I could still quickly catch on to her in the forest. I didn’t think twice and started running in the direction where I could smell the dark magic. She was too old to move faster than me. She most likely moved with half the speed, and she most certainly hadn’t used flying as an option, since I could smell her on the forest leaves.  So I ran, I ran for miles alongside the river, yet still letting the forest cover me, as my rage grew bigger and bigger. I couldn’t go back home before I managed to get my powers back, no one would accept me as a king, even I couldn’t do it, so I had exactly a week to get my powers back. Whatever it takes.  I heard the water crashing not too far away from me, so that must be the waterfall that leads into the Fairy Kingdom of Nature. I couldn’t stand the nature flies, too annoying and chirpy. Even the fairy men were pathetic, not even talking about the girls. I had seen the royal fairies in some of the events over the years, they are nothing to me. They didn’t even deserve the respect of a true Dragon. I stood in the middle of the forest, I could see some of the first fairy houses on the edge of the forest, but I had lost the smell of the witch. She might have used some magic to hide herself in the Fairy Kingdom, I wouldn’t be able to tell anymore, because the Fairy magic was interfering. I could smell the sun on the fairy magical skin though. And then I remembered that it was the day of Summer Solstice.  FUCK! There was no way I could find the witch in this kingdom on this day. Just my luck. I moved closer to the towns houses until I saw someone in a wood house window. The completely white hair got my attention first. But then I locked eyes with the owner of the beautiful hair. Light grey eyes looked at me with shock and fear, but then she broke the eye contact and turned way. Damn it! Another mistake on my part. No dragons are supposed to interfere with the most sacred day for these stupid fly like creatures. I could get even in more trouble if I was to be found out. Well that just means that I will have to take care of the little fairy in the window.
