Ch.5: Show me what you've got

1967 Words
"Excuse the blood, but I have slit my wrists and neck. It was the intention that I would die in the woods so that it would take a few days before I was possibly found. I belong in the woods and have always done so. No one will understand the reason for this anyway. To give some semblance of an explanation I'm not a human, this is just a dream and soon I will wake. It was too cold and the blood kept clotting, plus my new knife is too dull. If I don't succeed dying to the knife I will blow all the s**t out of my skull. Yet I do not know." —Pelle Dead— ******* "... Elle?" A pat on the shoulder pulled her out of the waking-nightmares, looking at the hand on her shoulder made her ghostly ocean eyes darken, waves of deception and remorse would drown whoever looks at those ocean eyes... "Do you understand what I mean?" The teacher's words echoed in her ears again. "No!" Howled the voices in her mind, "Yes Mrs. Murphy!", responded the words coming from her mouth. Looking at the cup of coffee that got cold in her hands, Elle couldn't even think of anything and only raised her hands to freshen her senses with the sour yet bitter taste of the coffee that she didn't even like. "That's great then..." The teacher sighed, put on a smile before standing up and leaving the girl with a couple of words, "You know where to find me whenever you need anything." As the old-woman's straight figure disappeared behind the walls and rows, Elle drowned the rest of the cold expresso all in one gulp, put the empty cup on the table and leaned loosely on the chair... Closing her eyes and drowning in guilt even more, the sorrow of her best friend's suicide right in front of her eyes was nothing in compare to the remorse and disgust she feels... Disgust of herself! Seeing Evegenia fall down, she never thought of catching her up, as she knew she'd never reach her in time thus never intended on wasting the effort... The time she heard the heavy sound of the body hitting the cremated floor, all that crossed her mind were bits and pieces of what to do next... She sort of felt sad, or maybe she didn't... Maybe she was just used to that... To people disappearing from her life... Anyone nearing her was doomed to fall... Or maybe she was just a monster programmed to ruin everyone in her life. Witnessing the sight of her one and only friend's b****y mess and the unrecognizable disfigured corpse, she didn't even bat an eye... She didn't even give it a second look after making sure that she erased all traces of her existence, fingertips and foot prints. "... Rest in peace...", Were all she had to say, her eyes as emotionless as ever, and so she left the crime scene... Like the monster she has always been. Even when she was interrogated by her father in his study, she was just proficient, her lies so perfect... Like she was born a liar from the start. "Give me a reason why I shouldn't let Evan take care of you for stealing the car." That was the first time ever her father's hoarse, chilly voice and his scary tone that seems like the calm before a storm didn't make her nervous... "I had to eliminate a threat." She made everything short and clean, a white-lie that was would make things easier for everyone. The totally unexpected answer made the ma freeze for a second before shifting his eyes from the documents on his bureau to the girl whose aura changed completely from what he remembers. In fact, that was a surprise for Elle too... The piercing gaze and the dark green eyes that seemed as if they could decipher all the secrets of the soul felt totally unfamiliar. It was the first time her father ever looks at her... "What threat?" A short sentence... The typical style of the Rosenvelts. "A girl trying to get closer to me..." She identified the target, before adding, "I killed her." His piercing eyes interlocked with the girl's empty eyes, he was intrigued as to know if she was telling the truth. It was a surprise coming from this girl in front of him, but never a surprise to him... "Did she find out anything specific?" He asked. "No." "How did you deal with her?" "Made it look like a suicide accident." "Any clues left in the crime scene?" "Made sure to erase them all." The firm tone, empty eyes and short answers were all it take to reassure him... "... You're free to go." After getting the answers he wanted to hear, he looked at her for the last time before going back to his documents. Elle hated herself so much, she was disgusted of the blood that flows in her veins... The blood of a monster, an eternally cursed monster... No human would use their friend's death as an excuse to avoid punishment... And she just felt so unhuman! She was lost in her self-hating on her way out of the building, walking aimlessly, thus failed to notice the bunch of guys coming at her. She just regained her senses as she felt the hand of someone being put around her neck. "Where you going to sweetheart?" The guy who put flaunt his hand at her jiggled with the tone of the playboy that he is. And she knew who he was right away... The guy she hates most. "Hey, Ace!..." One of his friends called out his name, "What are you doing for God's sake?" "Hey hey Lucy boy..." An abbreviation for Lucian and th nickname his friends use on him... Another guy interfering, "This chick is the real deal with this Rapunzel-hair whatsoever..." He was seizing Elle up and down, his pervy tone was nothing good... Elle was quite upset, uncomfortable but that didn't add to anything compared to how much resentment she felt for Ace. In fact, she just never liked him before, but after Evegenia's accident, all that turned into enormous hate and disgust... "May I help you?" She finally voiced out some exasperated words... She really wanted to slap his hands off her shoulders but she couldn't, as indifferent as she was, she still felt intimidated facing all those strangers and her being socially-awkward never really helps. Looking at all of those guys whose faces were screaming "assh*les" gave her a scare. They were all so old, the youngest of them was Ace himself, a twenty-two years old high-schooler was hanging out with those drop-outs... She didn't even know how did they enter the institution's grounds. "Hey, chill sweetheart... Just asking if you wanna tag along... Drinks, beats and boys...?" He put these words in a chaotic order, the smell of alcohols and cigarettes making Elle's nose numb and her tired brain get sort of dizzy. "No thank you..." She quickly refused, trying to pull herself out of the problematic g**g, she got rid of his hand, "I may just excuse myself." As she was slipping through the bunch, the flirty guy pulled her hand, "If you're not joining us, why not give me your number?" "Yo-yo... Listen here, I saw you the morning acting all sick whatsoever... And all you need is a waft of some good weeds." Elle was left stunned at the two weirdos, her wrist starting to hurt and her brain sobering up, her senses sharpening realizing how greatly in danger she was. In fact, Ace was really her classmate, but he rarely comes to class... She doesn't even know how did he see her the morning, but most probably he saw her state back in the corridors and unintentionally caught his attention. She looked left and right, ignoring the boys' chaotic hustle and bustle, looking for anyone... But it was so late. The school's staff never roam in the outside, especially in autumns' and winters' cold weather, students have long left too, unless it's for a basketball match or studying for the exams. "... I'm fine." She let those words out with clenched teeth and glared at the guy holding her hand, "Would you get your hands off me please? It hurts..." The guy with his sturdy figure seemed all the way scary to Elle, and the height difference maximized his impact... In fact, he wasn't even the tallest in his g**g, but still above average... And Elle herself was at most the above average type of girls if she wasn't considered short. The 6'3" tall guy and the 12 inches gap between them gave Elle a hard time breathing as she felt totally surpassed, and this inferiority complex turned her senses on to their most vigilant state. After a short silence, the man and his g**g all burst in crazy laughter. "You want me to take my hands off? Sure babe... " The sturdy man did let go of her hand, but the next second he put his hands on her waist and pulled her whole body up, as if he was lifting a weightless baby, "Look at those puppy eyes... Better now?" Elle wished to tear the ugly playboyish smirk off this golem's face, but finding herself in the middle of the air and feeling the weight on her hand disappear, her heart gave a beat and all she wanted now was to get down and get her handbag back. A tear unconsciously formed at the edge of her eyes as she screamed out loud, "Let me down!" Her voice died out in the cacophony and her struggles seemed pointless... Her kicks would never reach this guy and her hands were stregthless and unable to shake this giant's stone-hard arms. In her greatest moments of despair, she felt like the heaven and earth shook, her body floating in mid-air before she found herself in someone's arms, the manly cologne wafting her noise yet not suffocating her, just fresh enough to make her open up her eyes to try and look at who this person was, yet her blurry teary eyes weren't able to see the man's face, and his charp jaw line said all about his suppressing aura and strong character. "That's enough Jayson! You were too much!" She heard this hoarse, ice-cold voice coming from the man holding her. A voice that sounded like her father's typical tone, yet something about it made her feel safe... Maybe because she felt the emotions in his voice, that her father never had,and unconsciously, she closed her teary eyes and leaned on his chest... "Leo! What the f**k do you think you're doing?" Another guy howled at Elle's savior, looking at his bro who fell on the ground holding his head as he got punched right on the face. Once he regained his senses, Jayson sprung up of the ground, wiped his bleeding nose before talking through clenched teeth, "Are you kidding me? You want a fight this bad? You doin' this for such a b*tch?!" The savior, or Leo as they called him, looked at the five hulky guys in front of him with fearless eyes... Putting Elle on the ground and making sure to hide her with his comparatively-giant figure. Unbottoning the first couple of buttons of his shirt, rolling his sleeves up, cracking his neck and fingers one by one, he took a step ahead, his ice-cold eyes glaring right at the man's eyes... With an evil smirk, a tilted head and the voice of Lucifer coming from the deepest of hell, "...Show me what you've got..."
