Chapter 5

Jasmine's Pov. Dad was the first to burst into bouts of laughter, then mom joined him. I don't understand what's so funny about me wanting to quit that hell of a school. “You're joking right?” Dad asked in between bouts of laughter as he wiped at a tear on his eyelid. “I'm serious, and I want the both of you to take me seriously. Prescott academy is not for me, I can't fit into that school.” I almost cried, my voice cracked. Mom stopped laughing, her expression became serious, for a moment I thought she was in alignment with me, but I was wrong. “So, what happens to the scholarship? Would you just throw it away?” “I never wanted it in the first place, you made that decision for me.” “I made a decision that would change your future. I expect you to be grateful, not to be here throwing tantrums after your first day.” I folded my arms in my chest. “I don't care, I'm not going back to that school, and that's final.” “You quit that school, and you ceased to be a part of the Galloway family.” Dad added with remorse. “Dad!” I exclaimed, bitter that he could even say such. They ignored me and went back to watching TV, I was hurt, it felt like a thousand needles pierced down my heart at once. All they ever wanted was for me to attend that pricey school, my feelings didn't matter to them. ***Later in the evening*** I sat in my favorite ice cream shop with the one person that actually cared about my feelings. “That Amara is such a bitch.” Erica spat angrily. Erica was like me, she hated bullies and was always ready to stand against them. “I wish I was there, I would have taught her a lesson she would never forget.” She bawled her hands into a fist. Even if I tried, I don't stand a chance against her, and I told Erica so. “There is one nice person though.” I said quietly. “Yeah, the handsome guy that saved you.” She teased. “It's not like that, I wish I got to thank him.” “You should, tomorrow, when you see him again.” I definitely will, but my focus was on how to get out of there. “What's the plan now? You can't continue with that school, they will kill you for sure.” “If I don't, my parents will disown me, I can't have that.” We were both silent, thinking of ways out of my quagmire. Suddenly, an imaginary bulb lit up on my head, my mischievous smile came on and Erica saw it. “You have an idea, I love when you have that smile on.” I laughed heartily, the first for the day. “How about I get expelled, instead of quitting the school, my parents won't disown me when the school kicks me out.” “Brilliant,” Erica squealed. My mind was made up, one way or the other, I'll make sure to get kicked out of Prescott academy. I went to school the next day with a firm resolve in my mind to get expelled. The minute I set foot inside the school hall, everyone paused, all eyes were on me, and I knew why. It felt odd being the object of attention within forty eight hours as a student. I made my way to class, no sign of Amara and her minions, no sign of my bullies either. The day was going fantastic, I might not have to go on with my plan after all. Not until we had PE in the field, I was sitting at the back as a substitute for the team when he came again. “You have a habit of being wherever I am, do you have a motive?” I looked up to see him shirtless, why did he have to confront me half naked, staring at his abs was pure torture itself. I wasn't going to allow him the satisfaction of seeing me squirm from fear. “I don't see your name on the school's building, so I can go wherever I please.” “Look over there.” He pointed at Prescott's state of the art gym. On top of the building was his surname in huge letters. Okay, they own a part of the school, so f*****g what. “I haven't forgiven you for yesterday, maybe you were shy, and didn't want to bow in front of so many people, so I'll help you, do it now and I won't carry out my revenge on you.” This guy appears to be real cheeky. He really wants me bowing down so bad. “No, go get it from one of your worshippers, you have lots of them frolicking around you.” Aidan took a step closer and I stepped back, my back touched something soft, it was Vale Damien. “Buzz off Delacroix.” He stood beside me. “Or what?” Aidan called his bluff. Vale pulled me behind, and stood in front of me like a shield, they stood nose to nose. Aidan walked away, not without giving me a warning first. “I'll see you around, miss Galloway.” I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. “Thanks for the save.” Vale ignored me and sat down on the grass, I wasn't sure he ignored me, he probably didn't hear. I quickly unzipped my backpack and brought out a soft drink. I stood in front of him holding it out. “I didn't get to thank you yesterday, you got into trouble because of me, I want to give you this.” His flaming red hair shone in the sun, he looked up slowly, he stood up. I expected him to accept my token, and maybe we would become friends. Instead he slapped the drink out of my hand, taking me by surprise. My mouth hung open, not in a million years did I see it coming. “Have you gone bunkers, what makes you think you can offer me a drink?” He shouted. I didn't think anyone could get offended by a gift, I tried to offer an apology but he cut me off. “Don't say a word to me, and keep your distance, or I'll make you see hell.” I stood there, stunned with my mouth wide open.
