“You know, this song kind of reminds me of you,” I whispered, staring down at my hands.
“So you think I’m a heartless monster, who doesn’t really care about anything?” Klaus asked, and I could hear the amusement in his voice. I didn’t say or do anything.
“You’re right. I don’t really care about anything.” Klaus murmured. As much as I didn’t want that to hurt, it did. It cut me deeper than I would like to admit.
“I’m sorry.” Klaus whispered, sliding across the couch, and cradling me in his lap.
“Get off of me.” I muttered, blinking away the tears.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you.” Klaus whispered in my ear, and I shook involuntarily.
“I said get off of me.” I muttered again, trying to push him off me, my strength was replenished, and I managed to get a little space between us.
“You know you’ll fall for me eventually, don’t you.” Klaus muttered.
“If that happens I’ll make sure to tell Damon to kill me first.” I whispered, glaring at him.
“That stupid basturd! Claiming he had you! I would have ripped his head off!” Klaus hissed, and I knew he was talking about the time that Damon tried wooing me.
“He didn’t have a claim on me, and neither do you! You need to stop treating me like a possession!” I yelled.
“I have all rights to you, and there is nothing you can do about that. You belong to me.” Klaus growled, grabbing my wrists and twisting them.
“Kill me. Like I care what you do to me. I’m better off dead!” I yelled. Klaus stopped trying to break my wrists and just stared at me. I could tell he was angry, but I didn’t know if that anger was directed at me.
“You’re lucky I didn’t kill you,” Klaus muttered. He got off the couch and started pacing. I sighed, rubbing my wrists. Stupid vampire, stupid Klaus, stupid curse…
“Greta.” Klaus said, and I heard the door open. A girl walked in with a very pissed off look.
“What happened?” Klaus asked.
“The werewolf broke free.” Greta sneered. But that was impossible. Damon had set free Klaus’s vampire and werewolf for the ritual hours ago. Unless…
“You had two werewolves?” I asked.
“Yes. And another vampire too. If only I could have had another doppelganger.” Klaus smirked at me.
“Who was your werewolf?” I asked. I knew that the werewolf Damon had set free was Tyler, Caroline’s friend. And Caroline was the vampire.
“Jewels. My other werewolf’s babysitter.” Klaus snapped.
“Who’s this?” Greta snapped, only noticing me for the first time.
“Aria,” Klaus sighed, walking over to the fridge. I heard him open the door and grab out something. After sniffing the air I could tell it was blood. How much blood did this monster need to survive?
“So you’re the little skank that cursed Klaus, eh?” She asked, striding over to me and glaring daggers at me.
“Don’t call her that.” Klaus hissed. Greta was across the room in an instant, while Klaus held her three feet of the ground by her neck. She started choking and coughing.
“Klaus put her down.” I snapped. Instantly, he let her fall to the ground, and I watched as she choked for air.
“You call her that again, and you won’t live another second.” Klaus hissed. He left the living room and stalked into the bedroom, where he shut the door on us.
“Watch her,” I heard him instruct. I sat on the couch, a little dazed. How the hell was I supposed to get out now? I sighed in frustration, curling up to keep myself warm.
“You’re so pathetic. I don’t understand why someone as powerful as Klaus would want you.” Greta spat at me.
“Trust me, I don’t understand it either.” I sighed. I heard her walk over to the couch on my right, and turn on the TV. I looked up to see some documentary about wolves.
“Really? You’re gonna watch a documentary about wolves?” I asked her with raised eyebrows. She never answered me; she just kept staring at the TV. In the next instant I saw a little black pup scurry across the TV screen, and I cooed. It was so cute.
“Argh,” I heard Greta sigh. I looked at her just in time to see her roll her eyes at me.
“Stuck up much?” I muttered. The next instant I felt a throbbing, and my head started to pulse loudly.
“She’s a witch too. So whatever you try to hurt her with will be rendered useless.” Klaus muttered, walking out the room and over to the kitchen again. The throbbing stopped and I realized Greta had tried to ripped my cells apart.
“Neat trick. But that’s like a parlor trick compared to what I can do,” I grinned. Greta glared at me again and I laughed.
“You don’t seem so powerful now.” She snapped.
“That’s because I used up most of my power trying to kill your boyfriend over there.” I said, inclining my head to Klaus. I heard him chuckle, and looked back to see Greta looking at the floor. What the hell…?
“I have some business to take care of. Make sure she doesn’t run away.” Klaus said to Greta. She nodded and smiled, and I wanted to laugh out loud. Klaus grabbed his jacket, strode over to me and pecked me on my cheek. I groaned, pushing him off me and wiping the spot that he kissed.
“You’re so cute, “He said ruffling my hair. I growled in irritation and heard him chuckle. I glared at him as he walked out the front door. As he closed it, I saw him glance and wink at me. I rolled my eyes, turning back to the TV. This was probably my only chance at escaping. I glanced over at Greta and saw her reading a novel intently. I inhaled, then tried with all my might to make it as fast as I could out the door. I stopped at the doorway, feeling something blocking my path.
“It’s a spell, i***t. You can’t get out.” Greta said not looking up from her novel. I grabbed the closest thing near me, which was a lamp, and flung it across the room. It shattered across the floor, leaving a dent in the wall it hit.
“Klaus is going to be really mad at you for that.” She sighed, still not looking up from her book.
“Why the hell are you even here?” I asked, walking over to the couch again. I plopped myself down and stared at her. Greta never answered.
“What? Cat got your tongue?” I asked sarcastically. She shot me a death glare then went back to reading her book.
“Come on! Is everyone around here as boring and dead beat as you and Klaus?” I asked throwing my hands in the air in frustration.
“Don’t you dare talk about Klaus like that!” She spat at me. I stared at her in amazement, as everything settled into perspective.
“You’re in love with him!” I gasped, knowing I was right. She nervously glanced at the floor, and that was when I knew I was right.
“It all makes sense now. You hating me, acting all high and mighty around Klaus, trying so desperately to please him,” I laughed at the thought of someone actually falling for him.
“You love him, too!” She snapped.
“Correction. I loved his act. Klaus was always a monster; I was just too blind to see it. And so are you. Unless you like his whole evil guy attitude,” I looked at her with scrunched eyebrows.
“There still is some good in him,” She muttered.
“That’s what I thought too. Then he had to go and prove me wrong by turning me into the worst creature imaginable.” I muttered.
“He loves you.” She said defending him.
“No he doesn’t. He’s using me to break the curse. And even if he did, the man you’re in love with is in love with another woman. His first love. How does that make you feel?” I asked.
“Go to hell.” Greta hissed, glaring at me.
“Sorry, hun, but that’s where you belong.” I smirked. If I was being held hostage here I might as well have some fun annoying my captors.
“Did you to bond while I was gone?’ I heard Klaus walk into the room and I saw him drag a girl through the door by her hair. I stared closely at her…
“Elena?’ I asked, confused and a little scared.
“Wrong.” Klaus said, cheerfully.
“Katherine.” I gasped. The first doppelganger.
“Correct. Good to know you’re as smart as I remember.” Klaus smirked. He tossed Katherine towards the end of the room where she went crashing to the floor.
“Why do you still need me? I have no use to you!” She yelled. I could see the bite marks running down her neck and along her arm.
“Because, my dear Katarina, I want revenge. I have spent five hundred years looking for another doppelganger because of your foolish mistake.” Klaus smiled.
“Please,” Katherine begged, “Please let me go.”
“I’m sorry love, I just can’t do that.” Klaus whispered sweetly.
“Monster! You beast! You bastard!” Katherine yelled.
“Call me all the names you want, but in the end you will still pay.” Klaus grinned. He walked over to the fridge, again, and poured out a glass of blood.
“Greta.” He said simply. I heard Greta giggle, then Katherine burst into a stream of yells, screams and other horrifying sounds not yet known to man. She yelled and clawed at her head screaming “Make it stop! Please make it stop!”. I watched as Klaus sipped his drink with a grin plastered to his face. Finally I couldn’t take anymore.
“Stop it!” I yelled. Klaus turned to me with that same amused look on his face.
“Stop it Klaus!” I yelled, glaring at him.
“No.” He grinned.
“Dammit! Klaus stop hurting her!” I yelled even louder.
“No.” He smirked bigger this time. I yelled in frustration. Suddenly there was a rage building inside of me. I lifted my palms up and faced them towards Greta. Power surged through me and she went flying across the room. I gasped for breath, as I tried to calm down.
“Well done.” Klaus said, and he started clapping. I glared at him for a moment before walking over to Katherine.
“Can you walk?” I asked , leaning down to her.
“I, I think so,” she gasped. She tried standing up, and I helped her walk to the bedroom. I sat her on the bed and started rummaging in the drawers. Soon I found a pair of jeans and a sweater.
“Here” I said handing her the clothes.
“Thank you.” She said, taking them with shaky hands.
“Go take a shower.” I smiled.
“I, what if, what if he hurts me again.” Katherine asked in a scared tone of voice. She looked like a little girl living her worst nightmare.
“I won’t let that happen.” I smiled. I handed her a towel, and led her to the bathroom. She gave me a reassuring smile, and I shut the door, walking over to the bed. I sighed, plopping myself onto the bed and sinking into the soft mattress.
“That was some hit you gave Greta.” Klaus walked into the room.
“I just wish I could’ve done more.” I snapped.
“Her heads bleeding. She’s really injured. It would take her about a week to heal that completely. You really are powerful.” Klaus said walking over to the bed and sitting beside me.
“I just wish I was strong enough to kill you,” I sighed. I heard him growl.
“I don’t really care what you think.” I muttered, rubbing my eyes. I was so damn tired.
“You are so stubborn.” He hissed. “Well let’s see how your friend likes suffering for your stubbornness.” Klaus growled.
“What?” I snapped, shooting up.
“You obviously don’t want to stay here. So Katherine will pay the price for that.” He smirked.
“You wouldn’t kill her over my choices. Would you?” I asked in uncertainty.
“If I am the monster you claim I am.” He grinned even wider. Klaus strode over to the door and turned the handle.
“Wait!” I snapped. He turned to me with raised eyebrows. I closed my eyes and mentally slapped myself for doing this. “I’ll…I’ll stay. Just promise me you won’t hurt anyone else?” I asked.
“Promise.” He whispered. He was in front of me within half a second, his face inches away from mine.
“That means you can’t kill or hurt anyone as long as I stay here.” I said again with emphasis.
“Alright. As long as you do me one favor.” He smirked.
“What?” I asked, fearing the worst.
“Spend the weekend away with me?” He asked me.
“Huh?” I asked, not liking where this was going.
“I’m going away for the weekend. I want you to come with me. It’ll be just the two of us.” Klaus said wrapping his hands around my waist.
“Hold up a sec.” I said placing my hands on his chest and trying to push him off of me.
“Or more people die. It’s up to you to decide.” Klaus said, tilting his head to the side a little. I sighed in defeat. He had found my weakness.
“Fine.” I sighed, giving up hope of ever escaping again.
“Good.” He said and then crushed his lips to mine for what felt like the hundredth time tonight.
