“So are we going to leave any time soon?” I asked in irritation. Klaus was busy throwing things into a humungous Louis Vuitton case.
“I’m still packing.” He snapped. I sighed in irritation. My eyes were aching, practically begging for sleep.
“Go lie down. You’re tired.” Klaus said, stopping for a moment to stare at me.
“I can’t. You might just decide to kill Katherine for the hell of it.” I snapped. After our little agreement, and after he finally managed to pull himself off of me, we agreed that Katherine would remain alive. And so would everyone else. But knowing Klaus; he was just so unpredictable. I couldn’t trust his word.
“Do you still not trust me?’ He asked in disbelief.
“Of course In don’t trust you. You’re the fricking devil.” I said in irritation.
“So stubborn.” Klaus muttered, going back to packing. I heard the shower turn off.
“Out.” I said to Klaus, pushing him out the door.
“I haven’t finished packing yet.” He whined.
“Out.” I snapped again, shutting the door in his face. I heard him sigh in frustration. Good. He should be irritated with me. It was only fair.
“Hey,” I said to Katherine as she walked out the bathroom. She smiled at me. All her cuts and the blood was gone, leaving her looking refreshed.
“Thank you.” She said.
“No problem.” I said handing her a brush.
“Going somewhere.” She asked, inclining her head towards the suitcases.
“Klaus has planned a little…weekend getaway.” I sighed.
“Aw, cute. Honeymoon?” She giggled.
“God no!” I snapped. “Why the hell would you think that?” I asked.
“You and him aren’t together? But I thought you were Aria?” She asked.
“I am Aria.” I said.
“So you aren’t engaged to Klaus?” She asked.
“No. I was a thousand years ago, but I think me running away kind of cancelled future plans.”
“You’re a thousand years old?” She asked in disbelief.
“You make me feel old.” I whined.
“It’s just that I can’t really imagine a vampire that old. You’re an Original.” She pointed out.
“Yep. One of the very few that were changed by Klaus himself.” I frowned.
“You must be powerful.” She smirked.
“I guess. I’m also a witch.” I said, bragging just a little bit.
“Impressive.” She grinned. “So how come you haven’t escaped yet?” She asked, walking over to the mirror and checking herself.
“Klaus promised not to kill anyone else. And I’m all out of power.” I said simply.
“So you’re one of those self sacrificing types.” She said a little snobby. “I’m grateful to you saving me, really I am, but I look out for myself and only myself. So I’m just warning you now, I wouldn’t be much help in suicidal missions.” She narrowed her eyes at me.
“I always thought the doppelgangers would be exactly like the original Petrova girl. I was wrong. You’re the exact opposite of her. You and Klaus would be a perfect match.” I hissed. Katherine shot me a warning glance. “Stop worrying. I don’t waste my powers on pathetic fools like you. Grow up. You should know that if you don’t have alliances with someone, you’d end up dead.” I grinned, walking out of the bedroom.
“I’ve survived this long.” Katherine countered.
“You’ve survived on luck. You’ve made more enemies than you would like to admit. The man that would have crossed the world for you hates your guts. You’re alone. You’ll always be alone.” I added over my shoulder. I walked over to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of vodka.
“You’re more like Klaus than you would like to admit.” Katherine growled.
“At least I have people that care about me.” I grinned, taking a swig from the vodka.
“I hope you’re talking about me.” Klaus said, walking over to me and wrapping his arms around my waist.
“Yes Klaus, I’m talking about you.” I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes.
“Good.” Klaus said kissing my neck.
“Get off me.” I snapped, pushing him off.
“Aw babe, come on. We’re spending a weekend together . You might as well get used to the intimate closeness.” Klaus said, grinning mischievously.
“If you want to leave tomorrow you should probably continue packing.” I rolled my eyes.
“Where are we going?” Greta asked, putting her book down onto the table.
“You’re staying here. Put the plan on hold for now.” Klaus told her. I wanted to laugh out loud at the look on her face.
“Can I get some things from my apartment?” I asked him.
“Sure. I’ll come with you.” Klaus said. I was about to protest, when I realized he wouldn’t let me go alone.
“Fine.” I muttered. Klaus opened the door for me, probably trying to be a gentlemen. We walked out into the street and along the sidewalk a black Chevrolet Camaro was parked on the side of the road. Klaus grabbed a set of keys from his pocket, and when he clicked it the Camaro flashed its lights.
“This is yours?” I asked, my mouth hanging open.
“You don’t think I’d travel with a piece of junk do you?” Klaus grinned.
“Well I didn’t expect you to drive this car. It’s my dream car.” I squealed.
“Well that’s another thing we have in common.” Klaus said grabbing my waist. I was too excited to bother with him. “Aria,” Klaus said opening the passenger door for me. I didn’t hesitate as I got into the car.
“Good to know we’re getting along now.” Klaus smiled as he started the car.
“You do realize it’s only because of your car, right?” I laughed. But the truth was, I was tired of constantly fighting with him. And no matter how much it annoyed me, this truce was probably the best thing that’s happened between us.
“I am perfectly fine with that.” Klaus laughed. After a couple of moments, Klaus put his hand around my shoulder.
“You’re still a little damp.” He said.
“I was standing in the rain.” I laughed. My clothes were absolutely freezing.
“I still don’t understand why you ran away after saying you loved me.” Klaus frowned.
“I only said that because I wanted to get away from you as fast as I could.” I sighed. Which wasn’t completely true. I didn’t understand it before, but those words did have some truth to them.
“Really?” Klaus asked. I turned to look at his face, and it showed exactly what his voice sounded. He was hurting. I was hurting him.
“I…I don’t know. I’m tired, I’m confused, I’m scared.” I whispered the last part.
“You don’t need to be scared. You’re perfectly safe with me.” Klaus muttered.
“You expect me to believe that? After I cursed you, you almost ripped my throat out. You slaughtered my family.” I protested.
“Because you left. I didn’t rip your throat out because I knew if I did then I would only be killing myself. And I killed your family for two reasons. One: I hated them for helping you place this damned curse on me. And Two: I hated them for letting you run away. I wanted you, no I needed you. Then you just up and run away.” Klaus growled. My heart skipped a beat when he said he needed me. But…this was all a lie. He was doing all of this so that I would lift the curse for him. I couldn’t fall into his trap.
“Let’s go.” I said getting out of the car. We were parked at the hotel I was staying in. Then something occurred to me.
“How’d you know where I was staying?” I asked, not looking at him. I was afraid he was still worked up over our conversation.
“I asked Greta and Maddix, my other witch, to do a tracking spell on you.” Klaus said simply.
“Have you ever gone into my apartment?” I asked cautiously. Unlike most vampires, Klaus didn’t need to be invited in. One of the many perks of being the First.
“When you first arrived to town.” Klaus smirked.
“So you knew I was here before anyone else did. And at the graveyard you only acted surprised.” I said, apprehension hitting me.
“Smart girl.” Klaus chuckled.
“Stefan and Damon were both counting on the element of surprise. But you already knew I was there. You knew I was coming.” I said, a little irritated now. All that sneaking around for nothing.
“I’m surprised you haven’t yelled at me for sneaking into your room yet.” Klaus added for my benefit.
“I’m working up to that.” I mumbled, and I heard him chuckle. We entered the elevator and he clicked the 7th floor button. Of course he knew which floor I lived in.
“So what exactly did you do in my apartment?” I asked curiously.
“I went through your underwear drawer.” He grinned.
“Come on. I’m serious.” I said elbowing him playfully. Then I realized this was the first time we had had a normal conversation.
“So was I. And I really like that black lace pair you’ve got. Sexy,” He smirked. I suddenly realized he was telling the truth. I stormed out of the elevator and almost ran to my room. Then when I got to the door I realized that my keys were in my black hoodie, the one that I had changed out of in Klaus’s apartment.
“s**t,” I mumbled. Now I would have to break down the door.
“Allow me,” Klaus said gently pushing me aside, and picking the lock with a small Barbie pin. The door clicked, and he swung it open with a victorious grin.
“Why do you have a Barbie pin with you?” I asked curiously.
“You never know when it’ll come in handy.” He said stuffing it back into his pocket. I rolled my eyes at him and stepped into the dark apartment. I switched on the hallway light, and was blinded by the white light streaming into the room.
“Ow,” I hissed, covering my eyes with my hands.
“Come on. We don’t have all night. Grab what you need and lets go.” He said, grabbing my waist and towing me into my bedroom. Of course he knew where my bedroom was.
“I need to take a shower, I’m freezing.” I said, walking over to my closet.
“Here, let me help with that.” Klaus said wrapping his arms around me from behind. A wave of warmth enveloped me and I sighed in pleasure.
“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” I asked him, with a knowing look.
“Enjoying what?” He asked innocently.
“Just get your hands off of me.” I rolled my eyes.
“But you’re warm now. I at least deserve a thank you.” He whined.
“Thank you. Now get out. I’m still taking a shower.” I said. I grabbed a pair of dark skinny jeans, a white top and my leather jacket.
“Can’t I at least stay in the room?” He begged, following me around as I grabbed my toiletries.
“Fine.” I sighed, knowing he wasn’t going to stop irritating me. He smirked, kissing my neck.
“Stop that.” I said in a blank tone. I was getting so tired of this routine.
“No.” He said. I sighed, grabbing a towel and walking into the bathroom. I locked the door and turned on the water. After a couple of minutes in steaming cold water, I got out and wrapped my towel around myself. I turned around to where my clothes were to find Klaus twirling my bra in his hand.
“What the hell?!” I yelled.
“Hey,” He smirked at me.
“Get out!” I glared at him.
“Make me.” He smirked. I sighed, gathering up my power. I lifted my palm towards him, and…nothing. My powers were completely exhausted. He laughed, staring at my furious face.
“Ask nicely and maybe I’ll leave.” Klaus smirked down at me.
“Klaus, can you please leave the bathroom so that I can change?” I asked in the politest tone of voice I could muster. He walked towards me and I backed up against the wall. Great. Just great.
“Okay.” Klaus muttered, huskily. His face was inches from mine and I could feel his breath on my face.
“But first,” He added with a strange glint in his eyes. He started kissing my neck, trailing kisses all the way to my collar bone. Not again, I thought in irritation. Then he bit down onto my neck. Not hard enough to pierce through my skin, but hard enough to make me gasp. I grabbed his hair, trying to pull him off me but he wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me into him. He started sucking and biting down onto my neck again.
“Klaus,” I muttered, still trying to find the strength to pull him off me.
“You like it, and don’t try deny that.” He mumbled against my neck. He was right, but I wasn’t going to tell him that.
“Get off me.” I snapped. I pulled my hands back and pushed them against his chest with all the strength I had in me. I managed to get a few centimeters between us.
“Get out of the bathroom.” I growled.
“Alright.” I he smirked. He looked at me for one second before undoing my towel. I screamed as I tried to keep myself hidden behind the towel. He laughed, walking out of the bathroom.
“Stupid vampire,” I muttered, putting my clothes on.
“I heard that,” He chuckled.
“Good. You were supposed to.” I snapped. He laughed again and I rolled my eyes. I turned towards the mirror, about to brush my hair, when I realized the purplish mark on my neck.
“Ah crap.” I muttered.
“What is it?” Klaus asked, opening the door. He had an amused look on his face.
“You are one irritating bastard.” I muttered.
“What did I do now?” he chuckled.
“Look at this.” I snapped, pointing towards the hickey on my neck.
“Did I do that? My bad.” He chuckled. I glared at him, grabbing my brush and throwing it at him. He dodged it perfectly and I sighed.
“Come on, it’s not that noticeable.” Klaus chuckled wrapping his arms around me again.
“Yes it is.” I said. Even with my jacket collar raised you could plainly see it.
“Well then people will know not to mess with you. You’re already taken.” He smirked.
“I hate you.” I hissed, throwing his arms off me and storming into the room.
“I love you.” He muttered sitting on the bed.
“Go to hell.” I mumbled.
“Only if you’ll be there.”
“Stupid vampire.” I sighed. I started throwing my clothes into the suitcase I had taken out.
“You already said that.” Klaus pointed out. I rolled me eyes at him even though he couldn’t see me.
“These look interesting.” Klaus said opening my underwear drawer.
“What’s with you and my underwear?” I snapped, grabbing it all and stuffing them into the suitcase.
“I have a very perverted mind. The twenty first century is to blame for that.” He grinned.
“You’ve always been perverted.” I pointed out.
“True.” He smirked.
“But you liked that about me, didn’t you.” He smirked, wrapping his hands around my waist.
“You need to stop doing that.” I muttered.
“Well I’m not going to. I know you enjoy it.” He grinned. I sighed, choosing not to fight with him.
“Can we just get going?” I asked. He kissed me, and I sighed again.
“Klaus.” I snapped.
“Fine.” He sighed. We grabbed my suitcase and as we drove back to Klaus’s apartment I started dosing off. That last thing I could remember was my head leaning on his shoulder and him playing with my hair.
